Upgrading my cars

Hi there, let me start by saying that I loved forza4, so I was really excited to get my hands on forza5. I started from the beginning to get the feel for it and was immediately impressed. Now what I liked about forza4 was that you could pretty much choose a car that you liked and upgrade it to the class you wanted to race in, so as I ground my way through the novice levels, which was great I got to a point where I felt that I could move onto more powerful cars, this is where I have become very frustrated, in this particular set of races you are offered some pretty tasty cars to drive so I bought a Mercedes AMG, I didn’t change anything on it and quickly entered the first race, I didn’t do too well so I took it to the upgrade shop so I could do what I normally do which is start off by making it lighter, put better breaks on it, better tyres ect, basically make the car my own, this is where it all starts to go down hill, I couldn’t do any of this because it puts it over the class limit, now correct me if I’m wrong but I thought as you are driving a powerful car on a RACE track you could at least put some RACE tyres on it, but you can’t. So being very disappointed with this I tried another car, the same thing happened. I am at the point of giving up with the game, so can someone please tell me that I am missing something and does this carry on through the game, I loved trying different upgrades in the previous game. Please someone HELP!

Cars bought in Career mode are automatically upgraded to the top of the eligible car class for that series. You can back out to the main menu Buy Cars to buy them at stock PI (and for fewer credits) without the parts, and then buy the parts and upgrade as you see fit. There’s a limit on each particular Career series, but there are Rivals events and multiplayer where you may want to upgrade that car further. Here’s a list of the Career event restrictions:

Buying cars how ManteoMax has said is the way to go. But if you have already bought a car in career mode you can go to the upgrade shop and restore to default. From there you can upgrade it using your own parts to the class needed for the career event.

Thanks for the reply, the trouble is even putting the cars back to stock in career mode I am still unable to even just put the first upgrade of tyres on and that’s without adding anything else. Seems to make the whole upgrade shop a bit pointless. Like I said a car on a race track should at the very least be able to have some kind of race tyre on it even if it’s the first level upgrade. Thanks again for your help.

Some cars are close to the PI limit for the events. I assume you are talking about the C63 AMG. That starts at PI 581 and has a PI limit of 600 in its career event. I would add race suspension, race anti roll bars, race diff, aero and increase rear tyre width if you have PI available. Get the suspension tuned well and pray. From memory that is not one of my preferred B class cars lol.

When you are in career and look at the buy car menu try to quickly look at each cars PI before the game applies the auto upgrade. Then you can see how much room you will have to upgrade them.

I know what you mean with the C63, it’s like driving a car with tyres made out of butter, I still find it frustrating that you can’t upgrade what you want. I will definitely try your suggested upgrades out, because I really don’t want to just give up. As I am a more experienced gamer ( older gamer ) maybe I should try a Morris minor. Lol. Thanks again.
