I picked up Forza today for the first time, upon losing several races, I decided to just hook up my vehicle with all top upgrades I could afford.
In doing so, my card went from a D class to S class. Now I’m not allowed in the very beginning races because I “S classed” my car. I tried downgrading, but was only allowed to take it to B class, it won’t demote any further.
So now I’m locked out racing in those events (and other events because of my s class car.
Now, how do I get back into that very course? (I never completed it and would like to do so) especially since I am still new. I don’t want to skip over to the more tougher tracks yet.
When at the part upgrade screen, hit the button directly below & to left of white Xbox button. Choose reset parts to default. What is the restriction on Class for that race? Is it 500? That would be C Class. You might have done engine swap that won’t go below B Class.
You’re missing something. You should be able to get the vehicle back down to its default performance index. Worst case scenario: you’ll need to take the vehicle to Rivals mode and run some laps in its respective class to earn some quick dough to buy another car that adheres to the events you were racing in.
Tip: always be mindful of the class you are upgrading a vehicle to, the tuning adjustments you make, etc., as that will always have implications on what that car will be setup for in future events. My recommendation is to avoid going crazy on the upgrades until you’ve racked up some more credits; otherwise, you are going to find it difficult to purchase vehicles in your not-too-distant Forza future.
It won’t let me demote any further. I’ve tried
using the quick upgrade system to bring it down to C-class tune. B is as far as it lets me.
This could very well help, I somehow missed that. Thank you.
Yes it’s 500 class (The course is the very first level you play in your career “top left box of your screen” with the 6 courses) See that’s the thing… **where do I locate the course requirement
details that notifies me which vehicle classes are allowed?
Regarding default, once I default my vehicle do I get reimbursed with all my credits & tokens I’ve spent on upgrading?
OR, instead of reimbursing my credits & tokens they give me access to the items I’ve
already purchased without having to
repurchase them?
This tip is very helpful!!! As a noob, I immediately went all out in the “upgrading” dept. Thanks, your tip (the avoid part) reflects exactly what I did. Lol.
I just need help in locating the section within the courses that gives me details as to what kind of “vehicle classes” are allowed. Thus, I can tether my upgrades and not move them outside they’re limit scope. If you know where in the racing events I can find this info I will gladly appreciate it.
Also, I asked this question in response to the other quote right above yours, but just incase he does not respond in time… Do I get reimbursed with my credits & tokens I’ve spent in upgrading it when I revert my vehicle back to default?

Select your career series. Then you will have several different events to pick from. Before you pick the event geared towards what ever cars, hit “x button” for restrictions. I hate to say it, but it’s on the screen, to hit “x button” for restrictions.
Actually, no it’s not there. I am on here now. I do not see anything that says restrictions. Mind you I am in “career” mode. I’ll give you a step by step as I am here now and can walk you through it.
The first race event is “sport compact” (right now there are only two options) press a to select it and then press b for back. I selected it.
The next screen now resolves with the next set of series within that event. For example, one if the events called modern sport - I want to do this one so I select it. The only options are (a select) (b for back) and (x to replay series intro)
I selected it,
Now the next screen is the pick my car for the race. Which I’ve selected. Since my car is d class, I being prompted that this is a (c class event) and that I should upgrade it or be at a disadvantage.
So far, in "career mode"this is the only way I have of knowing which class of vehicle is allowed into the event, by that prompt. Anyways I chose not to upgrade it as I am doing a step by step on here to walk you through paces.
Now the next screen is a selection of tracks that pertain to this event. The only options are (a select) (b to back out) (x replay series intro)
I guess I am not blind (which I called myself earlier when you pointed out restrictions being right on the screen) Lol. Does career mode even have a “restrictions” viewer? Where are you getting this from?
You can’t get a car in a class below the level it is when you bought it (default parts), it sounds like you need to buy a c class car to me…
The tip given before about being careful with your £ is the best tip you will ever get… You don’t want to leave yourself no money, with no cars in the class you want to race and no money to tune your car to the top of its respective class… That will leave you slogging through a lot of races getting very little money!
Cheap cars tuned up, do just as good a job when your starting out as the expensive ones! Also, change all of your assists as soon as you can, and get used how the card handle without. It will get you more money and your level will shoot up, giving you more money. It will take a while to get used to and is frustrating, but its worth it.
In the interests of clarity, this is not 100% true. You can lower a car’s class in a few cases. i.e. You can get a Bugatti Veyron to S class via drag tires. And get a Nissan GTR Black Edition all the way down to C class via an engine swap.
Since you are new, it is best for now to only upgrade a car at a max of two classes higher than where it started. So if the car in stock form is in D class, B class would be the highest class to put the car into. Any higher and you’ll likely have a car that’s hard to drive and will probably be too slow anyways.
Also, in this game you have to be smart with upgrade choices. Simply adding parts that make the stats look good will likely result in a car that isn’t very good (you’ll see what I mean if you ever use multiplayer)
Your best bet is to download tunes (tunes are car upgraded and tuned for good performance) from the upgrade menu. I think its the my tune or load tune button (cant remember butand its at bottomthe of screenthe to the far right) you have to press to pull tunes posted for said car. There’s options to filter to the class you want too.
I know this is a bit off topic but a properly built car will make your progression thru career mode more enjoyable.
I completely agree with the no further that two classes higher than the original class of the car!
Also, if your going to download tunes other people have made(you will have to pay for the pats that need installing), you mite want to start off finding base tunes for good handling. Once you can handle the cars and know the tracks, then branch out.
A naff handling car, or poorly built car, will cause you to suffer when racing. That’s the last thing you want, because this is an extremely enjoyable game!
On the note of downloading tunes I do have a small warning.
Be careful when downloading tunes and always test drive tge tune first before going into races. Not everybody drives the same way you do and you can end up with a great tune that someone can drive but you cant. I would also recommend learning how to tune urself so that later on when your style starts changing you can build for ur style to compete in the races still.
Also watch out for tunes that dont have proper names. They are ussually bad tunes that are thrown out to mess with people.
Thanks! Now this opens a whole can of worms questions. These questions will seem stupid to you most likely (I’m a noob to cars in general)
These parts I’ve already purchased, are they tied only to this vehicle? (The vehicle I purchased it for) OR…
Can I use them for any vehicle in that same class?
Can I use them for any vehicle in any class?
This is wonderful advice and it really speaks to me. Thanks. Also, thanks for pointing out how I can get there with your menu breakdown, because my dumbass would had missed it. Lol.
Wow! This is deep. Thank you,
The calculations in this game must be off the charts. To me honestly it looks like every car is racing the same (except for the aggressive bangers, blockers that I’ve noticed) everything else looks pretty much the same (at least looking outside from the window) once your inside, it’s a whole different story!
I was recently watching videos on YouTube from ROT King. I especially checked out his tuning videos since I have no idea what some of those things do, even though you can read it clear as a day in the description field, but still, it goes over my head. Anyways, back on topic with what your saying, the amount of driving styles that are catered too in F5 is just jarring. I love complex simulation games. (My background is Fighting games, I’m heavy in the FGC: Killer Instinct, Mortal Kombat & card battlers: duels of the planeswalkers)
I definitely get what you saying regarding one style that’s good for one person may suck with another. I guess I have to find my driving style for I have no idea what it is. As my background is fighting games, I have noticed I’ve been aggressive against the AI while still being methodical with certain situations that come up which involve a more tactful approach.
Thanks Gangrel, and it’s ok, do not hate to say it. If I am blind enough to see it, as plain as day as it is there in my face- I deserve that response. Lol. My blindass. Thanks again.
This is great advice. Thanks. I am guessing the “tuning lounge” is in the main forum somewhere. If you read the quote above yours, it reveals, I am obviously blind. Lol. I’ll find it.
This is definitely great advice. What’s better than being payed to practice?
Not only will I practice and familiarize myself with the map, I also get to develop my racing style further and eventually come to understand my habits and identify what I do and don’t do, thus, allowing me to better tune my vehicle to drive style.
War Chief, I really appreciate the amount of
effort, detail you have put into all your
responses in my thread and if that wasn’t enough, you’ve even taken the extra steps of adding carefulness into not confusing me with them. Thank you. I will most definitely PM you.
@Everyone else I’ve missed in the quotes. Thank You!!!
This has been a vast wealth of information, it’s going to take me a minute to fully ingest it, then once the understanding evolves from it, I can appropriately apply these lessons to the many areas they are teaching me to be better at.
To think, I came on here looking for something so small compared to the gems you guys have been dropping on me. What an amazing group of people on here. Thanks again!
You should also take a peak at the tuning lounge. This is where you will find some of the best tuners. When you find a tuner that tunes to your style I recomend following them.
A good thing to do (i found anyway), when you get a car, run it round a few tracks in the Rival Class Challenges. It gets you used to the track, used to the car, with nobody to grief you and you get paid… Works out like paid practice but you have a good idea what time your getting and what times are possible, it tends to make you push the car a bit harder than you would doing practice laps as well.
If you need help on a car, tune or anything. PM me, i’m not the best driver or tuner, but i have come a long way since i first put the game in. Also feel free to add me as a friend online.
