I don’t think it tells you the restrictions anywhere, but it will prompt you if your not in the correct class, then you can tune accordingly.
I was a bit of a noob myself when i first put Forza 5 in, but with a lot of practice and some help from the guys on this forum, i have come a long way.
I know a lot of info and advice has been thrown your way and it is a lot to take in, but stick with it. This is one of the most enjoyable games i have ever played.

The menu system for career mode, finding tune setups and finding paint jobs is not terribly user friendly and can be frustrating. I wouldn’t be surprised if people didn’t realize you can search through hundreds of paint jobs instead of just selecting one of the recommended paints.
For career I go to buy car and see where the game autoupgrades the car to determine what class I need to build a car for. Its annoying.
Upgrades bought apply to only one car. Save your setup so you can bounce between classes without having to buy multiple identical cars.
