Car Audio in FM behind the scenes update | AMA transcript added Nov. 22

Not to hijack your thread or anything but I’m a wee bit disappointed not to see the Porsches and Ferraris getting updated sounds for the reported models.

Oh well, all in good time, I hope.

If you or anyone for that matter don’t feel like making the car audio posts about inaccurate or not authentic engine sounds, I’ll do it for ya. Just lmk which ones.
Same here I have some friends who Irace on pc. Hope our vehicles will sound authentic someday.

Oh believe me I’ve done my best to report the ones that sound wrong or need updating. I also follow up now and then to ensure that it is being looked into.

Anything to help improve the game.

Listen to The Crew: Motorfest. The cars sound authentic and satisfying, and camera views seem somewhat accurate.

For those who want to get vehicles engine sound authenticity correct. This is the procedure . Hope this helps y’all. :v:

I kinda just want to know, why arent the sounds where they wanted them to be? In that dev trailer, it was said tius was the “best sounding motorsport ever” and of course everthing “was built from the ground up”.

Now a year later, these built from the ground up sounds, need to be built again. Im not knocking their new found efforts, i just dont understand how things like this can happen.

Indeed.
I’ve been trying to find a delicate way to say something similar.

Improvements & communication/transparency are welcome, but contradictory messaging raises concerns about what to believe.

This game shouldn’t have been released for a few years… iron out all the bugs and sounds kinks. Hype up the customer and fan base and deploy. It’s embarrassing and I hope they can recover from it. Many fans quit playing… :expressionless::person_shrugging:

I would like some insight into that, as they sounded pretty confident then about them being the best ever, but now admit they’re not up to snuff. I don’t get what occurred in the interim, they must have heard them before release :pensive:

Like the 2015 Huracan GT3 sounds great in all views and pretty correct, or the 1997 Maserati Ghibli Cup, then you’ll get another car that just sounds terrible, the mix is really inconsistent in different views etc.

I mean you get an RX-7 which sounds lovely in Motorfest and even on YouTube, but in this game both models sound like a house fly using a hair dryer.

To Motorfest

Am I just wrong? Is it just upgraded and exaggerated in this?

Hmm, the RX-7 sound is okay. It’s certainly not among the worst, I enjoy it. With said, FM 5 and 6 have the best RX-7 sound. Even 7 has a good sample.

What sound setup are you running?

Official Xbox dolby atmos headset with the atmos app. Doesn’t improve in any mode with RX 7

The same could be asked about nearly every aspect of this game, not just the sounds. This is not merely a case of an overzealous marketing department, as many of these “best ever” comments came straight from the Creative Director. Which leads to the conclusion that either he didn’t know what was actually going on with the project he was supposed to be leading, or that he was being wilfully deceitful. I’m not sure which scenario is more concerning.

The way they described the game was already built like half way and they had to pick up where so and so left off.

Just sounds like a bad mechanic vibe - like the mechanic lost interest so someone else had to come along and finish the job. I’m sure it’s more than frustrating .

If you find vehicles be sure to create a post so we can get it more authentic sounding. This may be the saving grace of this game- a team willing to keep adding cars, tracks, content and fix previous issues. I’ll stay up day and night trying to find pure vehicle sounds if that’s what it takes to get it sounding better . They don’t seem to mind. I don’t mind putting in the work for the sake of all players and our enjoyment.

I know I’ve done many vehicles already and countless hours of listening and research to get better sounds. I know if they get around to fixing said cars, here’s hoping it’s only gona get better w time.

Im just curious about what exactly happened and why it needs to apparently be redone again. This isnt just specific to this game as car sounds have been all over the place for awhile. With every release its the same old story, same sounds for multiple cars, just plain inaccuracy sometimes, they then fix a few egregious ones, rinse and repeat.

This game had extra time, i know there were problems, but sounds are sounds. The car list is largely carry over for a decade, how many rebuilt mixing techniques is it going to take to just get consistently accurate engine sounds.

I hope it works out i guess, but like Trippul said above, this same kind of issue ran rampant through this game. Something was said before release and it doesnt correlate to whats in the game and it has to be fixed or redone.

Being delicate is key

I think we should all be grateful that improvements are finally being made. Let’s leave any missteps in the past, no point in bringing that up now.

Sweeping past missteps under the rug is how we got more missteps, and it’s how we’ll get more missteps later.

I’m so relieved and happy you’re taking the feedback and moving in the right direction.
PGR4 still has some of the best sounds in a game and the reason why I still have a X360.

I can’t wait to hear the new sounds and I hope you work on the off-throttle sounds as the car loses revs, the overun sound when downshifting and the ear splitting effect of high revs.

My questions would be how quickly/what rate are cars going to be updated with audio, and are you making any changes to the system itself which will effect the audio of all cars as a whole?

My guess is they will be doing cars in batches since they mentioned words like " sourcing" and " over time". They will probably try their best to get the worst car audio out the way first then work on the smaller corrections. If I were to bet I would say to wait at least 6 months to a year for just about all car sounds to be fixed.
