Anyone jumped from an Elite controller 1 to a 2?

.

Curious in general whether EITHER elite controller is better than the standard one that comes with the X1X. In a year I’ve already burned through one (dropped it a bunch of times) and the second one (never been dropped) is starting to feel a bit weird.

They definitely are much better.

Was thinking about it. The price is OK for new players but my Elite is still good  Will buy it soon probably. What’s your experience?

Mine is it’s not good with Forza - the original. It was not made any better than a standard (which actually last longer for me) If you pushed too hard on the stick it would break and become loose and useless. I must have exchanged it 10 or more times. Never lasted for more than a few months. Same failure every single one. It would break even faster with the long sticks. I never had one long enough for the grips to fall off. Gave up on it a while back and I have a replacement that I never use anymore. I suspect I will use it for the new Flight Simulator when it comes out. I would be hesitant about getting this new one specifically for Forza until people report on their experience. It won’t be me lol. Fool me once…
Make sure you buy an extended warranty that is the best advice I can give.

Ohhh that looks good! Hope it’s out for Christmas!!!

LOL, really? I have it almost for two years and it’s still like a new. It’s for sure much better than normal one for Forza.

I push too hard, lots of people do and it cannot withstand it. These days I have kind of got that under control but I still do it. The long sticks just create more force on the stick mechanism and break it faster. One time I even cracked the faceplate around the stick. If you are gentle with it you will probably be ok. I just put a skin on a regular controller and those best buy stick caps and it’s great. The Elite taught me abs off quicker. I’ll give it that. I used the trigger lock at first but found I didn’t need it after a few weeks anyway. This new one has pretty hefty stick mechanism. I’m not willing to gamble on it for that price. Hopefully they studied what went wrong with all the ones I exchanged. Get stick caps too so you don’t wear down the rubber on the sticks.

Slightly of topic but I went with the Razer Wildcat rather than the Elite Controller…

I have no problems with mine. I prefer it for Forza - the paddles make driving so much easier.

I’ll definitely wait for the first “long-time reports” on its production quality before I consider a purchase. The first one wasn’t well built, I exchanged it 3 times. Those rubber coverings were just horrible if the adhesive got too hot. Also one of the paddle holders failed after some time.
In general it provides some advantages for Forza though. Shifting with the paddles is more fun and comfortable for me. Altering the steering input helps me too but the best thing is the trigger lock for the brakes. With adjustments of the dead zones and brake pressure/bias it’s nearly possible to get perfect braking without ABS via the lock. When I’m racing players who are on my level I gain the most time under heavy braking due to this interaction - the same in Rivals.

My Elite controller has held up pretty well until recently. I noticed that it started disconnecting randomly. I know it’s not the battery, because I swapped it to a standard controller about a week ago, and it’s been fine since, so I’ve been using that.

I don’t know if I’m going to bother picking up a new one, or an Elite 2, because the standard one is just fine. The only thing I miss is the satisfying click fiddling with the detachable magnetic bits during loading screens. The underside paddles are a good idea that I’d like to see developed further, but never learned the muscle memory for them, and the programmable buttons are just not programmable enough. I’d like to keep the default button layout on top, and just program the underside paddles, but that doesn’t seem to be an option.

As for the Elite 2: maybe. I don’t know. I’ll probably research it a bit more first, but the price is a bit steep, for something that has more moving parts, it’s just more likely to die sooner. And if the underside paddles aren’t independently programmable like the Elite 1, then why bother? The standard controller suits me just fine. Honestly, my next controller purchase for Forza related purposes would more likely be a wheel, if anything.

Wow, that’s great because blocking doesn’t make much sense. For instance for Battlefield it was impossible to drive some vehicles  Good to know.

I really liked the Elite controller V1 until the bumpers broke (I repaired them with a part from Ebay), then the grips started peeling. I have no interest in buying V2 after the problems I’ve had with V1.

It’s not that hard and better to turn the trigger lock off once you are comfortable. It will not brake enough at times with the lock but it is good for learning. I would not recommend using it past the learning period.

I loved my series 1 Elite. However, it began falling apart after a little over a year (left shoulder button popped out, left analog stick became loose) to the point of being unusable. While I’m still upset about it, and butthurt over paying $150 for a controller that didn’t make it two years, I know I will surely be getting the series 2 before the end of the year. I miss it.

V1 came with 2 years warranty, got it replaced each time I had issues.

for the V2, given the trigger limitation is doing exactly the same than the inside game configuration, I don’t quite see the point. For Forza, I prefer to take a 15 bucks upgrade to add blockers on legacy controller than going for 150 for V2 that does not support it. Kind of extremely weird they are not giving the option to choose whether the locks are reducing the depth of trigger or blocking from reaching max.

What about stick force, has new version looser settings? From reviews it looks like 2 other tighter settings.

You can change the tensions (so tighter or looser) depending on your preference for each thumbstick - Which is pretty cool.
It comes with a little ‘key’ to change it
