Do any of you awesome players out there use an Elite Controller? I’ve read reviews ranging from “It’s freaking awesome” to “it’s nothing but a $200 paperweight”, which doesn’t help me at all. If I get honest opinions from real gamers things may become much clearer.
Hm… is it worth 200$? In my opinion no. Is it worth 100$ definitely yes. But i dont like it for forza. I dont like the vibration of the elite. Some people say the paddles are perfect for shifting. I like the buttons more.
I’ve been using an elite for awhile now, even traded in my old one for a brand new one shortly after Forza 7 hit for Prerelease. The paddles can work marvelous for shifting, but I don’t use the paddles. I still use the buttons and there is more to the elite than just vibration and paddles. You also have the different joystick lengths that really help out. They are in a short, medium, and long set up. Of course using the longer thumbstick options for the joysticks give you more accuracy, the mediums work just as fine as well, and the short ones make the turning a lot quicker. You also have 2 configurations of the controller so you can set up the deadzones for each configuration for racing/drifting or racing/drag racing and use the right thumbstick for your gas/break so you have more accuracy when getting the sweet spot between letting off the clutch and not just peeling out when getting off of the line.
Is it worth $200? We won’t know because it isn’t $200. Is it worth the $150? Absolutely if you actually use it for its features and change things up. Is it a paperweight? Well if you treat it like a normal controlled than yes, it’s a paperweight. People who say it’s a paperweight would be the same idiots who use a racing wheel for boxing. Of coarse it won’t work fully, you’re using it wrong!
Thanks for your input, but I should clarify that $200 is the asking price because I’m from Australia which exists in the world outside of the USA (no malice intended).
I use mine without the paddles for all games I play.
The quality of the controller justifies the price in my opinion.
Had to get back to the original one a short while ago for multiplayer (wife would only use the elite) and it felt like I picked up a knockoff from a flea market.
It is like comparing the interior of an Audi to that of a Dacia.
If you can spare the money go for it and you will not regret it.
I avoided buying it for the longest time. $150 for a controller for a $199 console, are you kidding me? Early this year I participated in a tradein deal with Gamestop. It is the single best controller I have ever used. I haven’t spent a minute using my other controllers ever since. Especially racing games profit so much from the non-existing deadzones on the Elite. I don’t use the paddles. So is the Elite controller worth it? Absolutely yes. If it ever broke I would buy a new one instantly. It’s the best money I have ever spent regarding gaming.
For me, it’s worth the price. After one year playing with the Elite controller, I cannot go back to the standard one. This is specially important in driving games.
Is it worth it? I recently changed over to the elite controller a couple months ago. My time on Goliath in FFH3 went from 4,563,982 all the way up to 4,563,980!!!
All joking aside, I think the elite has noticeably more precise handling/movement. When I first changed over, I could see/feel a dramatic difference. I also don’t use the paddles, but I can see potential with using them. Just have to adjust how you hold the controller and make sure you preset button mapping so you can navigate menus. For me, the extended USB cable is an added bonus as I play connected to save on batteries. Overall, I think it is worth it.
Which is fine, but the same goes for your price as well. It is well worth the money. The customization of the controller alone is worth it since you can hot swap the pieces. They are magnetically held in place. Just simply pull up on the piece and it comes right off. So you have 3 different joystick sizes, plus changing away from the original directional pad for one that gives more precise, movements as in a omni directional pad (think circle vs 4 buttons that are suppose to be for up, up/right/, right, ect. Then, as I said, you have a hot swap between two different configurations. The vibration IS more felt, but you can control the vibration through the device settings, same as on the original controller. For me, I like the vibration since you can feel things better.
Thank you people, this feedback from some obviously very experienced Forza players means a whole lot more than a few random online reviews. I’m only tier 9, if players from tiers 10/11/12 give the thumbs up that’s good enough for me. If only I could find a shop which has one in stock.
The tier system is much more than that. A players forza score represents the total of a number of things like overall gamerscore, game-specific accomplishments, in-game milestones e.t.c dating back to Forza Motorsport 3. Goto ForzaHub for more information.
Well, i’ve got 7D 6H 38m in the game and I havn’t really played in the last few days. MY campaign is at 100% for over a week now, collection tier 22, Driver level 212, and 276 cars. Is that sufficient? lol
No he means the broken tier system that is for the rewards. Mine glitches between Tier 4 and Tier 9, which I am Tier 9 and the only reason I am 9 is because Not all of my data has been uploaded (360 days when I was in Iraq for 15 months for instance) so it’s missing some of the earlier days but i’ve owned every title. And it doesn’t always update right away.
