Its like T10 got a new toy for Christmas and was able to do this and then took it as far as they could and just overdid it. I mean I can appreciate what they tried to do, I just feel they did too much and took it beyond realistic in trying to make it as realistic as they could.
I’ve been driving for many years, in many kinds of cars, and all kind of weather and I’ve NEVER been blinded by the sun like it happens in this game. In addition, you cant replicate things like being able to wear sunglasses, or put a hand up to block the sun, etc.
Also, even worse, I think they took it too far with the window reflections. Again, I realize they are there in real life, but they are pretty much a non issue in real life. I dont think anyone here has ever really sat back in their car and was blinded by the window reflections from their defroster vents or hands. Again, what cant be replicated from real life is the fact that we can look past and through reflections because we’re focused on what is down the road, not on the window. Our eyes can blur out and look through those things close and look down where they need to. In the game, the window is just as in focus as 100 yards down the road, which makes them more obvious than in real life. I’ve been driving the new Audi and the fluid reservoirs in the window virtually block out the track and cars in front. This doesnt happen in real life and I can guarantee that if they were that bothersome on the real car, Audi would have done something about it and covered them or repositioned them.
Again, I can respect their effort, but it just seems so overdone and doesnt actually replicate what happens in real life and takes it to the cartoon level of putting them there just because they learned how to and can, rather than what is really realistic.
Anyone else feel this way or am I totally alone on this? It wont change how much I play or sour me on future games, but do think it could be a lot better if these were just toned down a bit.
I live in south Florida and have been blinded by the sun in ways similar to in game. Also by sun reflection off of large chrome rims. And I once had a tbird sc that would get terrible dash reflections at times. All that being said, I do think they went a bit overboard showing off the beautiful new tech.
I’ve done that and driven perfectly west at sundown, so I do know what it is like driving into the sun, however, these race times arent really that early or late and there is always something you can do to combat the sun when its a real sun.
That said, I think the reflections are actually worse, mainly cause of the reason I mentioned, in that you can look past them and focus on the road ahead in a real car, something that isnt really possible to duplicate in 2D.
But again, I like their thinking and hope that in the next version they just tone it down a bit, doesnt have to go away, just a little toned down.
The glare in the game annoys the heck out of me, especially as my driver has a tinted visor, per the pre-race animations. On the other hand, real life annoys the heck out of me too because some people never learn - you’ve driven this route to work for how many years now, and you still have to slam on the brakes to flip down your visor because you still haven’t absorbed the fact in summer when you make that turn at this time of the day the sun is low on the horizon? SMH.
I will say it’s overdone however it’s much tamer than it is in FM4. The problem I have is my avatar is wearing a nice tinted face shield which would cut down on glare way more than what the game shows me.
I don’t mind it too much, but I do wish they could bump the sun up alittle on some tracks so it’s easier to see those corners coming in cockpit view. As you said, though, I don’t want to see the effect go away. Will be nice when in the next forza (or the one after that?) we might have a dynamic day/night cycle. I’m fine being blinded some of the time, just not EVERY time.
For realz yo! I put on my Ray Bans and it was still horrible. I repositioned the xbox camera so my grill was front and center, but it still didn’t figure out I had sunglasses on. I was like, “Yo Xbox I’m wearing my shades so turn down the sun,” but it didn’t listen. What up wit dat? I thought this was the newest in new. Really harshin’ my mellow.
Did you calibrate your screen?
All tv settings are junk out of the box. If your highlights are blowing out it will make the effect much harder to manage.
