Almost A Year After Launch

Well, I couldn’t find any of that etiquette online. I think that’s only explained at IRL track days which costs more than Forza’s ultimate edition.

I’m all for it. it would draw more hardcore people into the sport. I’m skeptical if they want to go through the trouble of explaining the basics of racing/track day etiquette because that information is kept behind a paywall greater than 99.99+ tax. (If this isn’t true, someone please point me in the right direction so I can know what to expect for my first track day  I’ve tried looking.)

The passing starting when front bumper is aligned with rear bumper has helped a lot when dealing with AI for me. It’s all I needed, they leave-a-space and everything.

Unsportsmanlike Conduct

This one is simple: any evidence of players intentionally ramming, wrecking, pinning, pitting, spearing, shoving, and blocking in any online race will see action taken against them.

We always review the submitted video evidence fully, and we understand there could be scenarios where Player A might’ve frustrated Player B for the entire race, just for us to see Player B retaliate with a ram of his own. Do not fall for this trap! Rule of thumb, always play it straight and honest, and you won’t see any suspension time. Be the better player, don’t retaliate, and just report!

Our moderation team will also evaluate unsportsmanlike conduct violations in the context of the game, whether it be Motorsport or Horizon, where we may be a little stricter when it comes to Motorsport races.

Rules and consequences taken from Forza support. We as a community have to report players if there is going to be any change. I understand we’d all like it to be a streamline process where we just click a button and it automatically does everything for us but it’s really not very time consuming.

Clip a 10s video, upload it along with the gamertag and a description of what happened. It takes 5 minutes.

The effort thing goes both ways when it comes to the community.

Just subscribed to iRacing so I don’t miss out on these videos. Glad they put more information out there, it’s been a long time. Thank you

I wasn’t trying to promote iRacing, but that specific playlist I linked is some of the best content I’ve seen as an intro for virtual racers, and the concepts in those videos apply across the board (not just to iRacing).

I think at this point they have nothing to lose by implementing rules. Regardless of the mass amount of issues this game has had since even before launch, their recycled formula doesnt work anymore. This new variation of that formula whether by design and/or incompetence has worked even less.

This franchise required an actual reboot, not just a shuffling around and removal of assets and features only to be added back under the guise of a gaas.

I think if they do have an actual future after this game, this would be the perfect opportunity to make major changes as to what kind of game forza motorsport is and will be.

It wont be an easy thing to do because 2 of the neccessary systems for this to work, driver ratings and penalty system still dont work properly. Rules wont mean much as long as these systems work against the players that do want to play.

Odds are none of this will happen and they will spend the next year adding recycled content and trivial updates to features. The balls in their hands unfortunately and its tiring watching them constantly fumble it.

This system has been in place for quite some time and while it can have an impact its not a viable solution for a sustained effect. This is why they then made the marshall system, which also can have an impact, but not one that can change the culture. Both of these things require manpower that they cant dedicate enough consistently to. The game needs rules imbedded in its code to make anything have lasting effects.

It’s how sim racing works and it works well in those applications. It just requires people actually caring about the race community they are a part of. I’ve never seen a game where the devs manage the community, this is typically a self regulating issue. If everyone would take the time to report people breaking the rules this would stop.

Like I mentioned in my post you replied to. Yes it would be nice if there was a more streamlined system in place, but there’s not. So if we’re going to use that as an excuse to not report people then it must not be that bothersome. 5 minutes to report vs getting punted out of a 15 minute race do nothing about it to repeat the same process next race.

When it comes to the racecraft and racing etiquette, Turn 10 shouldn’t have to do anything really. It’s on each individual to put the effort in, watching real races, onboards, searching about setups and pro drivers feedback. Showing interest in the art of racing. In this day and age it’s easier than ever before.

I used to think tutorials should come with the qualifier’s series online but it has to come from within, if you really want to understand something and be good at it.

The results speak for themselves after many years of just leaving it up to individual players to care about sportsmanship and just leaving it up to the community to police/regulate itself.
…and the results are not good.

Just bought a bundle of other car games. No Forza and not from T10 or so. Since Forza Motorsport 2023 has been absolutely no fun for me since update 12, I wanted to play the old Forza Motorsport 1-4 first. But now I’m going to play these new games. I hope I have a lot of fun.

I’ve already played version 8 and it’s a real pleasure.
I still have versions 9 and 10 and might buy version 11. Who knows!

You can also see that other companies take care of their customers and know how quality is made.
 :yum:
I wanted to give other games a try - and I see that everything works. All buttons have an effect, not like when tuning in Forza Motorsport 2023, where you shouldn’t do a test drive because otherwise you can’t get out of the menu of tuning enymore.

In Forza Motorsport 2023 you have to kill the game and start again to race the tuned car.

The reporting is not the issue, having people to review these reports is. This is why like i said above they created the marshal program, which was basically a bunch of unpaid people monitoring lobbies while they played.

I can see how its easy to put the blame on players for not helping enough, but there was a time when they did and things didnt really get better. This is not to say things like reporting and marshals are useless, but they arent enough.

An in game system or combination of systems need to be implemented. Combine these in game systems with reporting and the marshal program would be much more effective as well as more efficient.

Like i said the culture needs to change, players have to be responsible to play a certain way and turn 10 have to be responsible for creating a place where players have the chance to do that.

I dont think it helps that turn 10 doesnt help. For many, racing games are their first experience with racing. Wouldnt it make sense to include some sort of education on what their game is actually about.

With this game they did make some videos that are on youtube, but i think it wouldve made some sense to either put them directly in the game or have some links in game that lead you to the videos.

Forza is not iracing or acc, its a gateway into track based racing. Gran Turismo is as well and guess what they put in their game, license tests, track experience mini game to learn the tracks in sections, a mandatory video on racing etiquette before you play multiplayer and most importantly a skill/safety system that actually works to name a few. These omissions have only hurt them in the long run.

This game is simply broken. Progress is not counted up, X-Box Series X hangs, tuning hangs. Just terrible. And more than 100 dollars spent! It’s … me off. Just playing something else!

Today was a good day because I’m not playing Forza Motorsport 2023! A wonderful day with no excitement!

I agree with everything you’ve said here. Once it’s figured out it will be game changing for sure. I would like to note though, I reported three players last night before I crashed out. T10 “took action” and sent me three individual emails by 10am this morning. They really are on top of it.

I would love to see a ‘pro’ series of sorts that is only available to say, S/A safety. Some sort of incentive content would be good imo.

Well that would basically be a ranked lobby which is something that should have been in the game from the start.

As far as being on top of things, its great to hear that theyre still doing it and worked quite fast in your case. But at this time with player numbers most likely at their lowest point ever, this is to be expected. Do you think things were this way at the beginning?

Its a tough situation for any online racing game and thats why i think its important for them to look around the genre to see what works and what doesnt. Ideally they go above and beyond, and instead of playing catch up to others they strive to be at the forefront.
