A different perspective

The issue isn’t the progression.

The issue is they locked cars behind a tier wall, and the only way to advance tiers is to buy cars that you don’t want.

Some races are locked now even if you unlocked the series, there are still races that are locked under a certain tier until you buy a slew of cars.

Not to mentioned, they slowed the amount of credits you get (unless you buy loot crates) and screwed VIP members…

Instead of just having credits be credits for the cars that you want to buy… like normal forza games… I.E oh you want to race prototype cars… well you should race a lot and save up credits to buy that prototype car… THATS PROGRESSION…

Now its… oh I want to buy that prototype car… buy a different car, buy a different car… a car i don’t want, don’t want to race that car… oh… now I’ve unlocked the tier to spend credits… oh wait… I don’t have any credits because I spent them all unlocking all of the tiers to get the ONE CAR I WANT TO RACE…

You… really think thats fun? Instead of saving up credits and saving them up to buy the car you want… its locked until you buy a bunch of cars that you don’t want…

The economy is screwed…

One thing you can do is sell back the BS cars and still retain the tier level. You only get “used” car credit for them, but it’s one way of trying to get back some of the CR to advance the tier nonsense.

Most folks complaints, outside technical issues, are around the economy being based around loot crates. I think we can all agree the base game itself is great Forza action.

I just read a user’s take on this and agree somewhat: https://www.reddit.com/r/forza/comments/73g7do/ive_worked_in_mobile_gaming_for_nearly_a_decade_i/

"So whenever there’s a change made to make credits or cars more difficult to get, it was made for loot boxes.
- VIP 2x Credit is now consumable instead of permanent - the most obvious design change to get people to buy loot boxes
- Collection system - you need more cars to drive the cool stuff. What’s the easiest way to get new cars? Loot boxes.
- Cars all cost more money - creating artificial scarcity. Loot boxes.
- Homologation rules - you can make an argument this was done to make multiplayer more fair. I agree that was a partial reason, but I also think it was done to force people to buy more cars (loot boxes) that qualify in more races. Previously you could upgrade your starter car fairly cheaply and run it in all sorts of series.
- No more assist bonuses - more credit scarcity. Loot boxes.
- Weird AI - no idea here. I don’t think this was a microtransaction change.
- No Upgrades - they want you to have to buy more cars which cost credits which…you can see where this is going."

The good news is we do effect changes and discussions on a discussion board should happen whether its good or not so good.
VIP description changed because of our focus on it: Buy Forza Motorsport 7 VIP | Xbox

It’s more vocal now and will be after each iteration simply because we care alot about this franchise.

As much flack as I’ve given this game for things like lackluster DLC, inexcusably inaccurate car sounds for some cars, and even the incomplete feeling Forzavista, Of course I will not be returning the game. I will, of course, keep playing it and still enjoying it for what it is, and am looking forward to what the car pass has to offer. Now that I’ve cooled down a bit I must say some positives. The sense of speed is much better here than in FM6. I also really like the racing experience in general, and I think the handling is great this time around. In FM5 the steering felt a bit too heavy, in FM6 you had no grip unless you were in an F1 or Indycar, in FM7 it’s perfect to me. I just got frustrated at how the marketing of this game has gone and the clear decline that’s been going on in the Forza series since FM5.

But tricking players into getting the consumable VIP… That’s not something i’m very happy about.

Fix the AI and I’ll be happy. That’s it. I hate microtransactions and the fact that the game is built around them but if you fix the disgustingly **** AI so that racing is fun again I can live with them.

Your post was necessary, but it happens with every franchise… EA apparently can never get NFS right, despite the old games (by old I mean Underground era which the millennial kids worship, not the true classics prior to HP2) having absolutely horrible balance, lazy development and stupid bugs, and inferior to newer entries in a number of ways. Codemasters can’t get GRID right, people get angry that they remove cockpit cam, but they don’t make an effort to actually play in cockpit cam because hood and heli cam are faster, have always been, annoying people who just want to win, and they also complain about GRID 2 being for “casuals” when GRID itself wasn’t that difficult unless you were racing against the Ravenwest cheats. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

God forbid you’re forced to drive cars you don’t want… You might even end up liking them!

I’ll have to play it to see whether the progression is too grindy, but a bit of progression doesn’t hurt anyone, there’s plenty of awesome cars I discovered in FH3 just because I was forced to use certain classes at some point (sometimes due to self-imposed restrictions). The Rally Fighter is one such example, I love that thing, so boss. From experience I’ve found quite a few games become really boring the moment you’re given omnipotence in them, that is, you use a money cheat to buy everything, an XP cheat to instantly max all your characters, and so on.

If you don’t want progression and would like the ability to play through a strictly optional career, there’s always Project CARS, I guess.

Yes, a different perspective is all that is needed

let’s not give turn10 shit for providing us with a extremely lackluster multiplayer that is devoid of most of the features that were in almost every forza title to date

let’s not give them shit for setting this game up for micro-transactions

the VIP rewards and the fact that assists don’t influence your credit rewards anymore either is just fantastic as well

turn10 just can’t do it right, good multiplayer, bad multiplayer - do you guys even know what you want?

now you want features the old games had that everyone loved? hit and miss with this community

I’m doing the same 6 presets over and over in multiplayer all day with half full lobbies of people that seem to think this is not a racing game but bumper cars and I’m having the time of my life
