I want my money back!!!
I kinda know a few these yt creators and gave them some very negative feedback on the non-disclosure of the t10 vegas event
It’s FM7 without all the things that made FM7 actually good.
This is in contention to be considered the worst launch in Forza history. You know things are bad when FH5 is the other contender.
Theres no reason to go overboard with criticism, but it does deserve to be criticized. This game isnt bad, but it certainly isnt good. It needs major work to pretty much every part of the game. Even the physics which is its strongest attribute still cant keep a race car planted to the ground.
Ive said it before but something happened during development and the sad part is its not easy to tell what it was because theres just so many issues. But whatever it was caused this game to be released in a sub par form. The bugs, graphics, sounds, menus, missing options, missing tracks, missing cars, its like not one thing was ever finished or fleshed out properly.
Even though i don’t care about them, i can’t believe this game is pulling 8s and 9s out of reviewers. I could see someone entirely new to racing games possibly rating it high, but if you’ve played pretty much anything this game doesnt raise the bar in literally any way.
The promise of free content is always a nice carrot to dangle in front of the sheeple, but the game is straight up boring. I cant see people sticking around. Even if theyre thinking of the long game, what exactly is the hook, single player is boring and kind of dumb, i just finished a series with my level 50 911 and now i get to race in a stock 80s m3, what kind of progression is that.
The spec multiplayer is fine but is it that good to keep doing over and over again. One is already kinda broken with the golfs being op, is this the expertly tuned bop we can expect from turn 10 in the future. They have been notoriously bad in the past when it came to track/car selections, i have zero faith this will change.
I don’t know where the team went that made motorsport 1-4, but they need to find them and right this ship. This franchise has lost its way and i honestly can’t see them coming back from this. Theres just too many things that need to be fixed and finished imo, it would literally take them making a new game to do it.
If and when they do a new Motorsport (…probably more if at this point), I am honestly of the mindset that this Turn 10 cannot be allowed to have any major say in it. They just can’t. They are 1/4 for their recent releases, and just like Motorsport 7 eventually drew a major mea culpa out of them, a thorough and serious apology tour is going to have to happen after this. A top-to-bottom cleaning out has to happen, and new talent has to come in and take the reins. This franchise can’t afford a third straight dumpster fire of a release.
That’s what they did with 5, 6, 7, & now 8 - and look where that got us.
I shudder to think about how many people would eagerly rush to pre-order, praise, & defend another half-baked “bUiLt FrOm ThE gRoUnD uP” installment - only for it to follow the same old pattern of “one small step forward with many big steps backward,” resetting everything back to square one again.
I’m enjoying reading this post as a long term forza motorsport fan since FM3, and I do agree with a lot of points here for sure, and to me I don’t understand how games take years and years to developed and they come out broken or lack real substance and the cp system I’m not sure of, it feels grindy and restrictive. and yes, the game looks good and shiny but I Dunno to me it looks fake to me Forza 7 feels more natural with its lighting and feel, new physics are good, on a pad, and career is not very exciting and A I I’m not sure about either, considering all these buzz words we kept hearing. I hope things do improve. I hope the bug progression gets sorted builders cup, I’m doing built for sport let’s see if it saves it here or takes me back, I do have two cups now and only completed one event the other day. (made a post in bug section about it). Thanks for all your thoughts people, I do hope things improve.
Im just surprised at the lack of creativity. They havent really added anything new to the genre in quite some time, they are always on the backfoot when it comes to adding in any modern racing game features. When they are finally added theyre worse then their competitors offerings. If you’re going to use somebody else’s ideas at least inprove on them.
I can’t help but to agree. My biggest disappointment is the stripped tracks. I very much enjoyed being able to race on my home course in a polished game, and being more a fan of “road” racing, I enjoy some of the world class courses, but it seems like many of the others have been removed or disregarded entirely.
That’s probably the most unique point I’ve heard made, that it lacks creativity or ambition.
There’s nothing really new to move the genre forward. Things are the same or slightly iterative. Not much to be truly excited about.
So I would have had to finish the series, and then start it over again as there is not other championship the CTR qualifies for.
Brilliant.
But that doesnt seem to be a problem for other games, they seem to come up with something new. I thought ACCs whole track/consistency tracker to be an excellent addition for those wanting to learn to get better. Gt7s overall wet weather experience is amazingly implemented, i have yet to have a race in motorsport that it rains then stops and a dry line appears, i wonder if thats why it doesnt let you choose that specific scenario.
There are little things like this that raise the bar of what is expected. I just feel as though turn 10 doesnt play or look at anything else but their prior games. They are always on the backfoot of innovation and it wasnt always so, its what hirts them the most. Theyre not unique and if they are like in this carpg model they got going on its not in a good way.
Well do a small test and see if thats the case, like i said i thinkni heard or read that somewhere
Nope, try again its unnecessary
Actually, FM7 was already worse than FM6. And this time around, they seem to have focused on psychology exclusively instead of giving us just great gameplay that keeps us coming back. But MDollar fails to see that their psychology is already outdated and seen through and thus won’t work anymore.
The producers must be fired. This title is a disaster in so many ways. This is not worthy of being a first party title on Windows. 6 years in the making?? More like 6 months. Refund Requested. The original Projects cars was better than this…
Offer more than just 4x 6 lap races for a start.
Showcase Events used to be proper showcases for example, where they’d hire a pro driver to do a quick blurb to set the scene for an enduro, classic car race or something.
The introduction of dynamic environments is great, but it’s used in such a bite sized, accelerated fashion because the racing is always just ~6 laps.
Introduction of pitting and tyre compounds, but it’s not even used outside multiplayer and it’s not even necessary there (pick medium compound for a 7 lap race, done).
They’ve input the features to create all kinds of challenging unique experiences but it all feels very samey very quickly.
I will give them credit for the segment thing though. That was creative and has really added to the experience. Even the corners outside the timed segments do get rated and contribute to XP so I’m always trying to nail every segment.
In my ACC league we create lots of our own Special Events. We might prevent refuelling so drivers have to carefully manage fuel, or turn the heat up so it’s all about tyre management, or turn the dynamic weather volatility up so people have to make choices about whether to pit or hang it out.
Anyway, long way to go for this game and it’s supposed to be built so all kinds of stuff can be done. We’ll see what they do with it.
Also, I noticed they’ve got rid of puddles.
Whilst the effects were overdone in prior games, puddles are a reality and so is aquaplaning. In the heavy rain races I’ve done so far these no longer occur.
Wet to dry line is one of the features of gt7s wet weather not the only one and ive never seen another racing game have a consistency tracker. Rating corners has been in many games thats not the same thing. Seems like you’re trying to imply that racing games havent had any advances so its ok that forza does the same. I would have to disagree.
Yes, sorry I should have pointed them out as being new to FM rather than racing games generally. And you’re right the genre will only allow so much before you start getting into nom-realistic territory.
And yes! “Challenge the grid” is a unique creative feature! Go to Event and you’ll see everyone’s times so you can place yourself per qualifying. I like this feature too.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t regret spending the money pre-ordering the Premium version. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the game thus far (though that blasted career bug is killing it and needs to get squashed ASAP) and I do think it is a vastly better game than FM7 at it’s core (physics, graphics, FRR, tracks etc).
My concern at this point is longevity. New tracks and cars is gonna be great and all, but it needs to offer a diverse racing experience to avoid becoming stale. The game has the tools for the full depth and breath but they gotta use it!
I don’t just want to do 7 lap GT/Touring car races in multiplayer, and hope that the random class each month is also interesting, for example. I don’t want to just do 4x 6 lap single player racing series.
Really keen to see what they can come up with.
