Ok since the update steering wheel usage has gotten worse than ever no matter what dor or sens setting u use its rubbish what works for one car doesn’t work for the next one one car might suit no tc with stability on and others feel great with nothing the complete main problem there is not one setting u can leave your wheel on and just drive like a controller junkie. Sad thing is i was really enjoying the game from the beginning but now i just wanna throw it straight out the window and after paying 80 odd quid for vip and wot not. T10 you are alienating your fanbase and i sure as hell didn’t buy a 250 pound wheel only to use a dam controller to be competitive on leaderboards and with friends. I guess I’ll go back to pcars and play a game that at least feels like im driving a car and in control of it. Will be more fun than changing settings for each car which doesn’t help when u play online with a large group and have little time available so thanks T10 but until things improve I’m out. Get your act together such a big following and you can’t support steering wheels properly sucks big time very sad forza fan.
Have you read this information: http://forums.forza.net/turn10_postst41479_Steering-Wheels-and-You---A-Hopefully-Helpful-Guide.aspx
Without knowing which wheel you’re using, it is difficult to assist you.
Yes matey I’ve read everything tried everything and there is not 1 setting you can leave it on and race happily i don’t want to change my settings for each car it’s far too time consuming and a pain when u have scheduled race’s with large groups. Im using the tx ffb wheel. I had great settings when the game came out and now unusable and so inconsistent per car per assist. Have you got a swheel and if so what wheel and settings do u use. Have u tested all these settings cos i have and there’s not 1 which is consistent with all cars unlike the controller.
Thrustmaster TX. And I follow the information in the thread I linked. Also, perhaps this thread will help you: http://forums.forza.net/turn10_postst46475p3_Thrustmaster-TX-Finally-Working---Try-This.aspx

Regardless of what it says in that thread, I use 900DOR for all road cars, 540DOR for the race cars, and usually 360DOR for the open wheel racers. I dont personally have any issues at all. Unlike you, I am using the Logitech G920 wheel. Which doesn’t have and hardware level adjustments on it.
What I would suggest, if you are not doing so already. Is to only change the DOR in the advanced controller options, and not on the wheel itself on the hardware level. I had issues with that back when I had a TX wheel and FM5, mainly with the steering going all strange.
These are the current settings I am using in the controller options
Basic controller options:
“Rumble” OFF!
Advanced controller options:
steering deadzone 0/100
Accel deadzone 0/100
Deceleration deadzone 0/100
Clutch deadzone 0/95
Vibration 0%
Force feedback 70%

Some cars require less DOR than others, that is just the way it is. Not all cars have the same amount of steering rotation in real life. What would help in this case, is if Forza had a soft lock built into it. Which would change the DOR automatically based on what the car you are driving uses. Which is what games like Assetto Corsa, Pcars, and Iracing do. But it is not the absolute end of the world that Forza doesn’t work this way however. And with a little practice, it is very easy to be exceptionally competitive in Forza with a wheel. It is just a mildly annoying quirk.
This is why I use 900DOR for all the road cars in the game, which is what I mainly drive in Forza. And why I use 540DOR for the race cars, and usually less for the open wheel race cars. As these types of cars have less steering rotation in the real world, than what a real road car does.
In that thread, Voodoo says he just leaves it at 540DOR. For the most part anyway. And from my own play through with the game, this actually works pretty well. Especially if you chop and change between road and race cars a lot. I used 540DOR for the Lotus E23 F1 car, and it works great with that setting. I was able to put in a fairly rapid lap on the Nordschleife with it as well, with TCS/STM/ABS all set to off.
I have to ask, and please dont take this the wrong way. But is this your first wheel? Or at least on which offers more than 270DOR?
Also, if you want proof of just how drivable FM6 is on a wheel. Click on my forum signature below this message, which will take you to my youtube channel. I have the video of the Lotus E23 on there, as well as a good handful of road cars from FM6. The majority of the videos where done on the wheel.
Yes mate first proper ffb wheel and when i first got the wheel i went straight onto forza and was well happily playing on 540DOR was making some great leaderboard times but since each update it feels way different. I know what your saying mate about pcars and such and it is a shame T10 can’t implement that soft lock setting for wheel users. To be honest I’m just tired of changing settings and sometimes picking the wrong ones. I know the wheel works but could be so much better with universal settings over each dor and assist options and to be more consistent. Thanks for your help and advice much appreciated especially as T10 don’t want to know that these mildly annoying quirks are pushing wheel users away.
Best thing to do at the moment then, would be to set the DOR at 540, and just practice. That DOR setting works rather well in all the cars, including the open wheel race cars. So it should remove the need for you to change it between cars and races.
I feel the same I have put to much money into my wheel to have to try and drive it like this ( and yes I have read and tried everything) but there just small bandaids. The wheel is broken on this game, oh well back to glitchy project cars so I can enjoy what I spent my money on.
Yep, the game is so broken for wheels:
I am not the only person with a wheel that can drive like this with a wheel, there are a fair few others as well. It takes time, and it takes practice. You cant just pick up a racing game, buy a wheel for it, and then expect to be a driving god instantly. Doesn't work like that. Sure there are things that T10 need to fix with regards to the wheels, and there are aspects that are not so great. Mainly with regards to the force feedback. But the game is still highly playable on a wheel, even with those issues. What some need to do, is to take a step back, take a deep breath. And return to the game with a clear head. When you get wound up because something isn't working how you want, it just makes things worse. Take a little time, and things will click. Once that happens, things will get better, and you will be able to progress.
