Im playing with the g920 and i think i got some exp with racing games, coming from the PS/GT corner - played GT4/GT5/GT6 on PS, and GP Legends/GTR/Project CARS/Shift1+2 on PC with the old G25.
I cant get used to the wheel in forza 6 - Even with 900 degrees its way to twitchy.
Please, i need a setting to get the wheel to travel more - If i adopt the 900 degrees to the playing, its more like 90 degrees in every direction for “full” steering lock.
If i adapt this to the 900 degree setting in forza, i would need like 1800 or better 3600 degrees setting, because its unplayable.
I always “oversteer” into corners, because the wheel travel is too sensitive/too narrow.
There needs to be something done about this, i cant play the game.
Keep in mind that the animation of the driver is not full lock, it will match your rotation for the 90 degrees but past that they don’t move although you do have the full 900 degree range of steering. If you still find it to sensitive try using normal steering, it has a slower linearity and makes it feel less twitchy
I use the G920 also. My advice would be to tune out the oversteer. I had that problem with the Lotus Exige S and many of the race cars. After tuning up I don’t have the oversteer and I have confident control over all my cars. I run 900 dor with street cars and I lower it for race cars. For the Indy Cars I lower it down to 270.
By oversteering i dont mean exactly oversteering. I mean over-steering = turning the wheel too much. I always do it out of reaction - i steer too much. I cant adopt to forza.
Yeah 900 is too much.Im at 540 as well.Wheels are always after thought with turn ten.I wouldnt count on much changing during the life of the game with a patch for wheels. You got what you got and thats prolly it.Game is made around controller for most mart.Always has been.
If he is turning the wheel too much then I don’t think lowering the dor is going to help. Unfortunately the Logitech wheel doest have amy linearity/sensitivity adjustments like the fanatec and thrustmaster wheels. And I don’t see T10 adding these options into the game because they have already been requested many times before. Perhaps you could try get in touch with logitech and see what the possibility of getting these features added to the wheel via new firmware.
Otherwise you will have to try get used to it, and the ffb doesn’t help in this regard because you don’t feel when you are on peak or gone too far
I found that listening for tyre squeal helped me tell when I was getting close to the edge of grip. You can also feel the wheel starting to lose control. I had to slow down quite a bit while I figured out what the indicators were, but it’s second nature now. I’m now faster with the wheel than I was with the controller.
This use your ears. I also recommend watching telemetry to learn where peak grip is. Typically at very low steering angles. I think sim steering is too twitchy, especially in light cars. Turn that off and give it some practice.
I have the same issue. The wheel just doesn’t behave very realistically. Vehicle steering starts to oscillate out of control. Tried 270 DOR, 540, 900. nothing seems to help or make it feel realistic.
I agree, I have plenty of experience with other sim titles and none have given me as much grief as FM6 for steering. I consider myself a pretty smooth driver with tiny inputs but all my cars act like I’m trying to make a U-turn. Never had this problem in FM4 with simulation steering.
The ffb system is not realistic. It is made to tell you when things are happening with the cars grip. It’s not the best feeling system but it does give you everything you need to be quick. Turning the wheel to understeering point & beyond is a problem most new wheel users have on Forza.
Most new wheel users think that the more speed and quicker they turn into bends is the way to be quick. Unfortunately you must be smooth & hold the edge of grip. Also people believe that a wheel will make them quicker. In most of the other games people have mentioned that is the case. However Forza is made for controller users to be as quick. With the assistance on the controller it’s easier. Forza will never be a wheel users game because the budget would half at least. Unfortunately that’s life…
I’m not saying the FFB is unrealistic (I have they turned to 0). The steering isn’t accurate, turning just slightly (2-4°) makes the car overssteer and spin out of control. If you turn 1-2° the car under steers slightly, then quickly spins out. The whole thing is absurd. One would think forza would have a better (linear, fun) setting for wheels.
In my opinion the ‘simulation’-setting was never intended for wheel-users…‘normal’-setting feels much more like you’re actually behind the wheel of a car… (and you should be able to countersteer just fine)
I would agree but simulation has gotten a bit easier (I think) since last update. I’m still using normal but I do swap to sim if I’m running a stock car (ie. No build or tune) feels better for me.
Also for drifting simulation feels worse than normal.
