I drive with the Fanatec CSW V2 Wheel. I have not tried ‘simulation’-steering after my initial test when running the game, I was unaware anything has changed (will definitely give it a try).
I used to have the same opinion as driftTony above with my Fanatec CSW V2 until one of the recent updates which addressed the sim steering issue. Or at least it did for me.
Normal steering was okay but certain cars like the Lotus Elan required almost a full turn of the wheel to enitiate long sweeping bends which didn’t feel right. Sim steering was more realistic in that respect but much too snappy.
Since the update however I had another go after reading on here people had noticed an improvement. There was a big difference but still took some getting used to. I gave up a couple of times but stuck with it and now I’m so glad I did.
I find with normal steering all cars feel the same.
I now run sim steering with 900 DOR for road cars, 540 DOR for Race Cars and 170 DOR for open wheelers.
With regards to drifting, although I’m still not up to a competitive standard VS a controller I can successfully use 900 DOR also. There’s still the annoying “lack of FFB bug” which I can only describe as forzas interpretation of loss of front end grip/under steer bit that aside I think it’s great.
Stick with it, ride it out and it’s great fun! And that goes for 900, 540, and 170 DOR. A friend of mine with no experience on a games console other than my wheel over the last 3 months can pull of consistent laps of the Nordschlief with relative ease. If he can do it anyone can.
Reading through some of these responses I was just shaking my head. Too each their own opinion - but some of what I’m reading in response to your question would result in the opposite of what your asking to cure. Tuning the behavior out of the car is totally unacceptable and requires a non spec/stock car. I’ve got quite a bit of real on track experience and for me it’s all about making it as close to the real thing as I can, I bring this up as I do have my DOR set at 540 as that’s matches my actual car.
I’ve had the thrustmaster tx and now the fanatec setup - I had a g27 Logitech but of course never used it with a Xbox
You are looking to turn down linear steering or sensitivity as someone else suggested.
So I found this, I hope this info is saved in the wheel and not cached/saved in their software - really hope this helps - just turn down the sensitivity by 20% and see how that feels.
"With G920 you can adjust the steering wheels degrees of rotation and steering sensitivity in the driver, but nothing else.
Buried in the LGS is a parameter called ‘steering wheel sensitivity’ that defaults to 50% and ranges from 0-100%.
This adjust the ‘linearity’ of the wheel without changing the total range. "
if the wheel has sensitivity settings try to lower it that might help, also in advance wheel settings increase your steering dead zone to allow some play for your wheel.
Hi yes unfortunately u cant calibrate my wheel as it hasnt any force feedback or any option to do it in forza 6 options.
Insane79, what setting do you think I should do it too I.e steering deadzone please as I have no idea sorry.
Thanks so much for your appreciated advice
If I were you I’d be using normal steering with steering deadzones set 0-100
Edit: it could be worth looking into the sensitivity setting on the wheel too, I’m not 100% familiar with that wheel but if it’s anything like the tx it will be mode+shift up/down paddles (if I’ve remembered that correctly)
