TX wheel users, please try these settings

finally, 4 months later, finally i’ve found what i think to be simply the best ‘feel’ im ever going to get out of forza 6. ive been using wheels for about 10 years so if anyone is interested (please just give these settings a blast) ill post my choices and why.

firstly the wheel itself.

DOR (mode button and right on DPAD together) 540 degrees (3 flashes)

SENSITIVITY. (mode button and right paddle shifter) press until (3 flashes)

ADVANCED OPTIONS.

STEERING AXIS INSIDE 0

STEERING AXIS OUTSIDE 100

(unless your having hardware issues you dont need to adjust these, all your doing is multiplying inputs for no reason and losing resolution)

ACCELERATION AXIS INSIDE 1

ACCELERATION AXIS OUTSIDE 99

(reason for me changing these two is simply that i want to make sure im getting the full 100% acceleration when my foot is planted)

DECELERATION/CLUTCH/HANDBRAKE

leave all these at 0 inside 100 outside, simply no reason to reduce unless your experiencing issues with your equipment

VIBRATION 60
FFB 60

ive used 60 for both because i like a lighter wheel, a heavy wheel simply isnt realistic at the speeds you’ll be doing around most tracks. also the 60 vibration means you’ll get some wicked feedback from rumble strips and so on. of course if you like more change these two.

WHEEL ROTATION

same as the wheel itself, 540 DOR.

ASSISTS.

these are just as important, as they can massively change everything you’ve been trying to achieve in terms of feel. me? ive got them all off, with SIMULATION ON. honestly, if i can hit a puddle at 110mph, massively slide out, correct it and carry on then this setting is perfect. simulation steering give true 1:1 steering at any speed, having this on and everything else off means no fake dampners or other mechanics dulling the steering, resulting in the best feedback your going to get.

just trust me guys and try it, feed the car into the corners like you should be, and build your speed up each lap, im loving this game now, this setup is perfect.

If for any reason you not quite happy and want to tweak the feel then i would suggest only altering 3 different options,

the steering sensitivity (mode and right paddle), this can drastically alter the turn in sharpness, i use the third 3 flash option because ive never managed to get as good as this with 540 dor, you never have to cross hands yet there’s more than enough turn in rotaion to smoothly take any corner, its simply awesome i promise. (you might want to lower this if your using a real world aftermarket wheel that has a much bigger circumference

the ffb, some people prefer a heavy wheel to dull twtichyness on their own part when cornering,

or vibration, to create more feedback (for example, to feel the brakes locking up) so on.

thats it guys, let me know what you think, i am most defo keeping these settings, for good

Why don’t you just put it on 900 your essentially making it that way anyway. But if you like it that way stick with it.

900 is to much for pure bred race cars, there’s no point in having that much rotation, its alot of hard work for no reason.

how am i making it that way anyway? did you try the setup? a less sensitive 540 DOR is alot better than a 900 DOR with max sensitivity, for me anyways

whats your setup like pal?

I usually use 900 and when needed lower it to whatever it has to be. My ffb is around 80, vibration around 50. Theres been many different things people have done, one guy suggested to set deadzones at 0-20, then lower the sensitivity to 4 like yours, I dont remember the dor, it was probably 900 and it actually didn’t feel that bad. I’m sure you already know every car is different and the dor has to be adjusted. I just find it easier to start with 900, I have pretty quick reaction times so it’s fine for me with most cars, but here or there a race car will require me to lower it so I do. I’m very happy the tx allows us to adjust these things on the wheel instead of the menus. As far as using the sensitivity settings, thrustmaster does have some recommended settings on their website, 900-1,2 540-2,3 360-3 270-3,4. By setting the sensitivity level to 4, your giving it the sensitivity of the stock 900 dor, but your just able to turn lock to lock sooner. The thing is, you should never have to turn lock to lock in the game unless your making a u turn, most times at full lock your front wheels will just heat up and cause understeer. I didn’t mean to offend you, I’m sure it feels great, I was just adding my opinion to your post. Everyone is different, I’m sure people use all sorts of setups to make it “feel” right to them, do whatever makes you feel comfortable, hopefully someone tries your setup and it works for them too.

Maybe you mistook my reply, i wasnt offended (?) Man, genuingly asking you the question was all. ;).

My sensitivity is on 3 aswell pal, not 4.

I feel you on the dor front, pcars does this better by telling you to set it at 900 and the game then changes the dor for each specific car, which is wicked.

All i can say is after months of not being happy (again) with a forza/wheel experience ive finally found a setup that i really enjoy. Still not as good as forza 3’s was but its getting there.

Let me know if you try the setup, im thinking of putting the vibration up for a bit more feedback but the wheel weight can stay where it is lol

Yes forzas wheel setup is a fickle beast lol, I’ll try your setup but I’m comfortable with mine now as well. It’s been said in other threads, it’s something that you have to get used to, we have to make the best with what we’ve got. Vibration you have to be careful with, even though I haven’t had it happen more than a few times there is a pull to the left bug when you go off the track a few times or something like that. I dont often go off track so maybe that’s why it hasn’t affected me personally too much but I have felt it happen. A bunch of games have automatic dor, Forza seems to be in the minority with its system compared to its competition along with adjustable pov. Maybe forza 7 will add these things (probably not) but I hope they do, it would really help the wheel users out alot.

I asked and asked for a fov slider in f6 before release and was shot down, shame really as the one thing that lets forza down is its sense of speed, this is why i use the bumper cam, it gives the best sense of speed due to being low to the tarmac.

Imagine how epic f6 would be with an fov slider and the option to remove driver and wheel for us rig users ;).

Im in the uk so my th8a shifter is on the correct side (flame suit activated) so its jarring when he changes gear with his right hand.

Anyways back to f6, i havent played it as much as i am now ive sussed the settings

Theres no one setup on a wheel that works… Its a personal thing…No way to blanket this.

I never said otherwise, this was more of an option for people who, like me, just couldnt get it right and were looking to others for their setup.

I mean it only takes 5 mins to change your settings in game, and revert back to yours if unhappy.

Unlike pcars, lol, im still perfecting that beast, its a masterpiece but im a perfectionist…

I’m a TX user with a decent rig. I think 900 DOR is absolutely horrible… that’s just my opinion. I generally run 360 or 540, depending on the car.

I also run around ~80-90 FFB and Vibration. I feel that Forza is quite numb and there’s no reason to make it more so. The only reason that I turn in down is to keep my TX from overheating. At 100% FFB, the fans come on very quickly and run the entire time for me.

900 is defo overkill, 540 with less sensitivity is far better. For me anyway
