XBOX One X on new 4k TV vs. High End PC on 21:9 Acer Predator X34

So, I have two high end gaming systems. One I just built for myself a couple months ago. It is has a 1080 Ti, i7-7700K Kaby Lake 4.2 GHz, Samsung 960 EVO Series 500GB SSD, Corsair Vengeance Series 32GB, etc. The other is my previous system which is not too far off from this one with the same monitor that I handed down to my son.
If we stick to PC’s I think we could play together, but it might also work on Xbox 1 x and one of the PC’s

I sold my Xbox One S because I pre-ordered the Xbox One X and I have not played it for a long time anyway. My son is enjoying his PC and would not miss the Xbox either. Since we moved, I put my 4k TV in the bedroom and sold my 1080p 60" TV. I have not watched TV in the living room or used my Xbox since we moved. There is just a 32" Sony LED 1080P in there that the kids watch youtube on. I never watch TV in there so far but might consider it if there was a better/bigger TV in there.

I figured I would just go buy a new 65" OLED or 75" LED for the XB1X when I was about to get it, but I am on the fence. I really don’t even need a good TV in the living room, but was going to justify it with the new Xbox. I could really even do without the XBOX one X when I think about it. I do still have one of the new controllers with Blue tooth , rechargeable packs, and some games, but I could use that controller on the PC.

Anyway, with that bit of background story, I need someone to tell me which rig is going to be nicer to play Forza 7?
Will the PC’s on the 21:9 Acer Predator X34’s (3440x1440) be better, or the Xbox ONE X on a new 65" OLED or 75" LED (3840x2160) be better?

If the PC is going to be better anyway, I am starting to think I should just forget about the new TV and XBOX and cancel my pre-order?? I mostly only buy games I can play with my son at the same time, and this seems to be a smaller and smaller amount of games on the XBOX. They ruined the new Halos with no couch co-op, so I never even bought the new ones. This is part of why we now have two high end PC’s. We can just buy two copies of games and play most any of them online together side by side with our own screens etc. I don’t get much time to play anything, but my son plays his PC about every day. He also likes a lot of the free stuff on PC like Roblox and Minecraft etc. We do have some co-op xbox one games, but they aren’t going to be 4K anyway now…

So, do I just focus on the PC game here or go ahead and get a new TV and keep the XBOX One X coming?

The best experience depends on your preference. It will practically look the same on a new 4k as it will on your 21:9 monitor. The deciding factor will ultimately be, what do you prefer more? Playing on a massive TV on the XBOX One X or playing on your PC on a significantly smaller screen? Before you decide though, you need to be aware of a few things.

One important thing you are overlooking is 4k Blu-Ray and apps like Netflix, Prime, Vudu, and others through the XBOX One X. Although those were all available through the One S, you sold it so you are now without those features if you decide to buy a 4k TV. As much as I love my gaming PC, there are times I just want to lounge in one of the recliners and play games on a big screen. My PC setup is pretty decent but it doesn’t take the place of my 4k TV, 1200 watt surround sound, while lounging. Maybe that is because I work in front of computers most of the day but to each their own. Personally, I think you would be better off wit the One X and the 4k TV because there are a lot more benefits to that setup beyond gaming that everyone in your household can enjoy.

I never used the XBox for any of this stuff except I watched a 4K blue ray once. The TV’s we have are smart TV’s and we have DVD players. I really only watch TV at this point on the TV in the bedroom right before going to sleep which is a 49" 4K. My daughter just watches youtube on the 32" in the living room. So, this aspect of the Xbox is not really important to me.

I do agree with the lounging in a chair aspect of the console though…and those 65" OLED’s look pretty sweet, but I really like a bigger 75" screen…but that’s another choice to think about. I do have a high end Denon, Infinity, Klipsch surround system just sitting on the floor in the basement, but I was not really planning to use it since this temporary house is not pre-wired for it.

It does not help my choice when I also have a 10% best buy coupon that will work on a new TV even at sale price and the LG’s are on sale this week, and I have rewards $$.

I am just posting this for some other people ideas and opinions (especially ones playing on PC already). I have not seen it or tried it on PC. I know you guys can’t make the choice for me…

Really?
How do we make this preference decision for you?
Not inside your head.

I have to agree with firebird, I’ll have both when the one x finally releases, I’d be playing Forza more if i had the Xbox as sometimes i rather just sit in bed and play than get up and sit in my gaming chair.

A High End PC with 200% Resolution Scaling and an Ultrawide Monitor is the way Forza is meant to be played.

Im a gamer in the midst of the scenario in question! Fact is I have the benefit of an i7 black edition msi gtx 1080 Gaming x gaming sli pc at hand both hooked /connected to an acer predator x34A ultrawide panel and an LG 4k 55” ips led suhdtv with hdr+ &dolby vision 10 support!

I’ll give my opinion/break down in steps! 1stly the Xbox one x will never match a high end 1080 or better gpu based pc or an sli rig in my case for picture quality at either 4k or 21:9 ultrawide aspect! The Xbox one x is limited too 4k@60hz whereas an nvidia 10 Series pascal based gpu pc can run 4k @up too 120hz! I game on the LG 4k suhdtv in 4k @100hz when lying back on the recliner gaming! As mentioned I have the benefit of the sli gaming pc hooked too an acer predator x34A panel also! In my opinion if it’s sheer picture quality your after no tv regardless whether it be oled, or led etc match the x34A gaming screen for actual picture quality! Iv had both the Xbox one &ps4 pro running on both but pc always has the superior picture quality! It’s also official on nvidia website a gtx 1080 etc are also capable of supporting 8k in due course @60hz via dual dp! The Xbox one x might be capable of running 4k @60hz with some added extras like super sampling etc a feature one of few relative too the pc gamer for years now! The pc equivalent of any game will always offer the gamer the chance in the ingame options menu too tweak/enhance graphics settings vastly, away more than the Xbox one will at standard 4k @60hz!

In fairness too what one client posted I’m the equivalent, nice too lie in the bed &game either remotely in the bedroom from the pc via the nvidia shield device hooked via the internal House network/router in conjunction with the pc or either or the two consoles both in the sitting room! I’m a windows 10 user and there’s a setting/app in windows 10 for streaming your relevant Xbox too pc via your internal network! In PlayStations case you have too download and install the PlayStation now app on your pc and config/enter details! You also have too install the PlayStation now app on the nvidia shield pro streaming device also! Once setup you can run/game on your bedroom/preferred room with the PS4 in your sitting room/office! As long as your windows10 pc &relevant Xbox are both configured and isp address setup via your internal network I can game away in bedroom whilst both consoles are on&are in the sitting room! The nvidia shield is a device designed to stream/run 4k at a steady 60hz which in my case always does so will easily stream the Xbox one cat 60hz! Like a client says nice gaming or watching sky q hd/3d from the comfort of your bed at times! Via your Inhouse network/nvidia shield pro device that is possible as it’s designed too run/stream 4k @60hz!

The bottom line is if you have a capable 4k/21:9 gaming capable pc at hand then the Xbox one will never meet/ surpass it as a pc at that spec is capable of away more &8k ready even!
