I have been trying to resolve a similar error that others have reported in the forums regarding installation of Forza 7 Ultimate Edition. The pre-install failed at 11.98 GB (17%). Each time I retry the download work nicely at between 15mbs and 25mbs and when it gets to 11.98gb the data flow stops. The download message changes from installing to installation stopped. I then flips between these states on and off with now data downloaded (I assume retying) and then I get an error code 0x87e00005.
I have tried:
• Pausing and un pausing the download
• Restarting the xbox
• Resetting the xbox
• Removing the failed download from disk multiple times
• Removing the demo as well as the failed install
• Switched to my mobile data service via my mobile hotspot, same issue
I have seen multiple references to “removing the placeholder file”. Im not sure where this is but I assume by removing all instances of anything Forza 7 related from my xbox storage is removing any placeholder file. If not, can someone state where to access this file.
I’m located in Australia
XBOX 1 ver 10.0.15063.4103
I have no DNS resolution issues
I have 1.3TB of free disk space
I have 100mb fibre internet service with unlimited downloads (tested the throughput)
I can steam video and access all other content from the xbox, all network test come back fine
24 hours of time lost after paying for a premium. Not a good look.
So I have removed the 6th failed install reset everything again, removed my external storage just for good measure and now I can’t even get the game to start the install process. Tried to install from the export. Nothing in the queue. Try to push from the online store, nothing in the queue.
Fabulous customer experience all round.
And please keep taunting me with the “Forza 7: Play early, play now” tile on the home screen!
After 2 hours on the line with Xbox support and a full factory reset wiping all games and data I am still no further.
Started an installation and as soon as it hits 11.98GB the install stops. The add on items install but the main game just fails with the same error at the same spot.
I’m our of ideas. A complete reset surely rules the device out.
Me and about a half dozen of my friends have been having these exact same issues for the last few months. Random games and updates won’t fully install. They’ll get to the same spot and freeze every time.
as i told you yesterday my friend, same issue here in Italy.
i stopped seven times on 12.25gigs downloaded
yesterday i moved my xbox to a friend of mine’s house and restarted the download of the ultimate edition from the store: i got through the 12.25gigs this time, but the connection was very slow so i had to pause everything and come back home with a quota of about 25gb.
Resumed the download here at full speed and now blocked again with same error at 39.77gb; i can play the game but i’m not sure how many contents i will be able to enjoy as i’m missing a lot of data to complete the installation.
also “store” update stopped with another error (0x80073d02) dowloading only 150.27mb out of 151.79.
IN ALL THIS TIME, MS SUPPORT ASWERED TO MY QUESTIONS FEW TIMES ASKING BACK TECHNICAL DATA ABOUT MY CONSOLE, EVERY 5 OR 6 HOURS, WITHOUT GIVING ME ANY CLUE ON HOW TO SOLVE MY PROBLEM
Thanks for the additional information> It helped me resolve my issue.
You comment about taking it over to a friends place and it starting to work prompted me to re check my network as clearly it seems local network related. I thought I had already ruled that out yesterday when I connected my Xbox to my mobile to try over cellular which didn’t work. However it occurred to me that at the time I did this testing there was actually a known issue with the distribution which was resolved.
So I went back to my router this morning and I’ve basically bypassed it and given the Xbox direct access to the internet and it chugging along at twice the speed of before, about 60Gb/s.
I use policies on my router to protect the network and my kids, and while the Xbox and adult devices are on a less restricted policy, there is clearly something stopping the download. I haven’t figured that out but perhaps white listing/bypassing your router may help.
I have downloaded games much bigger than 11.98GBs and never had this issue but there is clearly something about the delivery of this game that is causing my router to interfere.
I’m on Internode, my friend is on iiNet. I am in Townsville, he is in Perth. EVERY time we update our xboxes, we have to resume the download about 100-150 times during the process. It will download a few mb’s error, freeze. Resume, download a few more, repeat the error.
I have a Day One Xbox One, he has an Xbox One S.
Doesn’t exactly inspire confidence, I’ve not had a single issue with my PS4, and ive downloaded massive games on that.
probably not my case:
already tried to bypass the router, even changed it.
i succesfully downloaded FM7 on my laptop over night (almost 100gb) without any interruption or issue, so even ISP is not the cause.
seems for me the only problem is caused by Microsoft itself at this point.
one more thing: dowloaded vlc on the console today without issues and even inside FM7 cars are downloaded, slowly but downloaded… so my total amount raised from 39.97 or something to 40.13.
meybe in one year of partial gaming, i will complete my download…
