Performance 4k looks really clean and sharp with no artifacts inside the car or externally but then Performance RT can really make the reflections pop at the expense of some hard to ignore artifacts inside cockpit and on the car externally.
The games performance has improved a lot since launch, but I’m still using 60fps no rt mode. The problem with FM is my Series X is sometimes overheating when my room gets too warm, so I think I stay without rt. The graphics don’t improve much with rt turned on, so I don’t really see the benefit, I’d rather have a bit better performance.
I hope they fix the ray tracing so that at some point we have good looking shadows and lighting.
That’s the thing, see? I go back to Performance 4k from time to time because everything looks so clean and well fleshed out. No visual artifacts or any of that nonsense. Cockpit can really look funny sometimes because of RT. The dials and all. And as of the latest update, there’s even shimmering or flickering around the borders of headlights and brake lights
‘Why does it get warm?’
Well in summer, because it’s hot outside and I don’t have an AC. In winter I usually leave the window banked and it works pretty good.
But sadly the Forza games aren’t optimized that well, there are other people on the forums that have complained about their Series S overheating when playing FH5, even though no other games are causing their console to overheat. It’s just a part of playing Forza, I guess.
Performance only… tried the others and man all it did was glitch upon game release and looked much worse I guess because the varying frame rate. And the visuals was just bottom of the barrel terrible esp trying to drive. Never thought frame rate made such a difference but I can definitely see it.
Thanks for the suggestion, but I think I’m quite creative when it comes to temperature control.
An AC unit is not an option as it would be loud, raise the energy bill and I try to keep a small footprint when it comes to climate change.
Curtains are a great idea, but I live directly under the roof, which keeps the apartment warm even on sunny winter days.
Fact is, the game is barely optimized enough to keep a stable framerate of 60 and there is not much I can do about the Series X heating up my room, except for a big fan with a water bottle of ice cubes besides it, that cools the room for about 1h 30min.
I use Performance (no RT) because it’s just more consistent visually if that makes sense. In Perf RT I always see track barriers (cages in particular) constantly adjusting which not only doesn’t look great but is actually distracting. The only advantage of RT mode I see is that interior surfaces look better and carbon texture doesn’t look like a mirror. I think regular Performance also runs smoother. I use 27 inch monitor btw
I prefer the coming apex to be as crisp as possible vs the RT stuff that i do t notice unless in photo mode. 95% of the time while actually playing the fame my eyes are just looking at the next apex.
Visuals is bottom of the barrel. Performance rt mid level graphics and performance is by far the best. If you haven’t tried it please do your missing out.
