Cars - All CARS side mirrors & interior reflection bug After Update 13 (1906523)

Update: This affects all cars featuring this particular shader. This bug was introduced with Update 13.

@T10ManteoMax maybe this should be transfered to the Report News Issues forum given that it’s a general shader/rendering bug which affects all surfaces featuring it?

I’m fairly sure that this wasn’t like that a while ago (maybe it was just introduced with Update 13).
The wrong material is applied to the interior of the mirror (the rim around the actual mirror) & it’s constantly glowing while poorly reflecting the environment.
Xbox Séries X in Performance RT mode.

I’m surprised this hasn’t been brought up sooner tbh. You should check out the muscle car interiors! All the interior chrome reflects the road surface, which isn’t visible because car floor lol. It’s extremely annoying having crazy reflections all over the place.

I think the lack of mention is likely because most people play in chase cam. Hopefully they will still address this.

Ray Traced reflections have always been wonky… But now after Update 13 one particular shader is busted and they are totally busted (overexposed as seen in the screenshots).
Only happens in RT modes.

i have Noticed it on the AUDI RS3 SPORTBACK YESTERDAY AFTER I INSTALLED THE UPDATE SO MAKE THIS CAR ALSO ON THE LIST

Ray Traced reflections are totally busted inside the cockpit on Xbox in both RT modes when a specific plastic/carbon shader is used.

Oh my goodness does that explain what I’m seeing here I just posted about it.

Look towards the passenger side of the Emira the environment is coming through the roof and reflecting into the cockpit unless it’s an intentional thing which I don’t think it is because I drive the car constantly. This would explain what I’m seeing then right?

This is absolutely distracting and awful. I hope they fix it promptly. I’m glad it’s not just one car. I’m driving the Emira here.

Not fixed in Update 14!

maybe not directly related, but please, REMOVE all interior world reflections, looks horrendus when you can see clouds, curbs, grass, track all that reflected on the panel surface, wheel metal details.

Gosh I’m hating this too and not using cockpit view now most of the time. Many cars’ brake lights and headlights are also reflecting weird details around the light housing or body, making the outline of headlights/brake lights shimmer and show noise, distortion or something or the other.

Yes, something horrible is still happening with reflections in cockpits of some cars…

Bug has been logged. Good.

Perhaps we can see the interior and exterior reflections (around tail and headlights) restored in the next update or possibly before that.

And what about this white shimmering\strobbing?

Low res RTAO (especially on consoles). Never going to be fixed (unless they decide to implement a raster based AO solution like SSAO/HBAO/GTAO)

Just wanted to contribute with this video. You can clearly see dots and reflections flickering about randomly around the cockpit dials and around the tail light edges. It’s the same issue more or less that pops up when you use RT in the game (Series X)

The white shimmering and strobing around cockpit part edges and borders was reported on day one. Surprisingly, still not fixed.

Some more videos. Issue is mostly around reflective parts. Look at the chrome edges around the tail lights or the cockpit dials. Dreadful!

@JetPartySalad is this logged ? We need answers at least if it is going to be fixed or not. Sry to tag but I’m anxious

To be fair, the bug has been logged (scroll up and look under the thread title). So only a matter of time. Perhaps, next update, here’s hoping. As ironing out these issues can be both complex and tricky. You don’t want to break something else in the process.

Here’s one more vid I forgot to post:

So it’s basically any reflective parts or surface inside and outside the car.

It’s bug logged so let’s hope for it to be fixed
