Time to move on to next-generation. Whether Xbox One or PS4. Of course Forza among others are exclusive to Xbox One. New games for 360 will probably cease in 2 yrs. Since Microsoft said last year they would support the 360 for 3 more yrs.
FH2 on Xbox One is a blast. Especially with Thrustmaster TX.
When you buy a game for a console using 9 year old tech, you have no other choice. If you think all those things can be squeezed onto one disc and have the 360 do them you’re crazy.
Turn 10 were under no requirements to release horizon 2 for the 360. In fact, forza 5 was the only quality game available at the launch of the Xbox one in my opinion and that was because it was only made for the Xbox one. Turn 10 made horizon 2 available on both consoles as an olive branch to players. No one told them to build it across both platforms. I’m glad they built the game to a different standard on the Xbox one which is the platform it is designed for. Otherwise we would be buying a “dumbed up” version of a 360 game for the Xbox one like most titles that have released since the one came out. (Watch Dogs anyone?)
Yes the Xbox one is expensive. So was the 360 when it came out but they were developing games for just the 360 for over seven years and it has reached its maximum potential for processing and graphical elements of games.
Apple releases a new iPhone every year, sometimes every six months and a brand new iPhone costs more than the Xbox one does if that lends some perspective.
Folks, you do NOT have to buy the next generation console. That’s up to you.
But the Horizon 2 version for Xbox 360 is new, has new events, new cars and the newest other stuff the 360 will allow. It is only in comparison that it has “less” than the Xbox One version.
Go with the understanding of “needs” versus “wants.” Do you need the new console and the expanded capabilities the Xbox One is furnishing? Not really. The FH2 version for Xbox 360 has plenty new to do, new challenges, new terrain, etc.
This is all true, I just wished they kept the features of Horizon 1, we have no lobbies for open roam, we cant upload our photos and they got rid of video recording. They should’ve just released the Europe map and new cars as DLC for the original game. This is a step down from Horizon.
I have the 360 version and have no problem doing Online Free Roam with my friends. 1 friend who has both copies (XB1 and 360) said the Free Roam and Multiplayer is the same for both versions. So far the online portion has worked perfectly for us. The main differences: mapped controls and sensitivity of the controller, graphics upgrade on XB1, dynamic weather on XB1, and some areas of the map such as the Aerodrome is larger. For example, on the XB1 version you can go to those Water towers in the distance whereas on the 360 version there is fence preventing it.
The only other differences are the pre-order bonuses and such for buying the XB1 version whereas I paid $10 less (USD) for my 360 copy.
No, it’s not a dumbed down version of the game at all. It’s a different game. It is good, it is fun, it is pretty well done, but… they’ve created it in such a way to make it seem that the XO version is way better. The XO version really isn’t that good at all if you compare it to Horizon 1, but if you compare it to Horizon 2 it suddenly looks great. How odd is that? To make up for their XO Horizon 2 failure, they have asked Sumo to make an inferior version of Horizon 1. While Sumo has done a good job, there was no need to lower the graphics and to take out stuff that was in Horizon 1. If Playground would have done it’s job better and really release a worthy XO version, we would not have had this lesser version at all. But as with Forza 5, the Froza Series on the XO seem to have lost it’s magic.
I enjoy Horizon 2 for the 360, but in the back of my mind I know this coyuld have been way better, but had to suffer in favour of the XO version. For that simple reason I will not move to the XO or get anymore Turn10 games. If they can’t get their act together, there’s no reason for them to make me suffer for it. So, bye, bye XO, hello PS4… if I ever move next gen at all. So far, I’m not impressed with the next gen at all. When the 360 was released it was far ahead of pc technology… but the PS4 & XO aren’t far ahead at all… my laptop packs more power, a lot more. Still, if the new console falls short, they didn’t have take it out on me and give me an inferior version the I had before. Shame on you Turn10!
Really on a mission aren’t you, for someone that has not got a XO you seem to know a lot about it but your opinion differs from mine and a lot of other people with one on FH2.
The grass isn’t any greener on the PS4 side either, mine has sat gathering dust for months.
I do my best to be polite on the forums. Having said that…
WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU SMOKING MAN.
I logged 100+ hrs in FH1 on 360. FH2 on XB1 is bigger, prettier, sounds better, drives better. Your statement here is just WRONG. I’m sorry 360 players feel cheated, but the XB1 is almost 2x as powerful. The 360 version was always going to look weak by comparison. Also, Sumo has ZERO experience producing Forza games, might have been a factor.
I think you’ll find that Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) said sometime ago that the XB1 is 10x more powerful than the X360 doing local compute, and with the use of the cloud It has 10 times +…
The only thing that’s odd here is that someone would think they dumbed down a last gen version to make the next gen version look better. You dont even have the XBO version, yet you call it a “failure”? Are you serious? I’d say about 95% of all XBO FH2 players will strongly disagree with you…
How would you know? We are talking about a 10 year old platform here. Game development for consoles is full of compromises and the older the platform gets, the more compromises have to be made. You can now drive everywhere, which means that the offroad sections have to be more defined as its a drivable area now. Thats more stuff to be loaded into the very limited and slow RAM of a last gen console. The environment is more dense (foilage and stuff) and not like the deserts of colorado. Same here, additional data that will eat up RAM resources. Even the original Forza Horizon put the X360 to its limits. Why should it be different now, its still the same, old hardware. Use common sense und you will understand that SUMO didnt have unlimited resources (manpower and budget) to develop a game on a minor platform. (yes, like it or not, the X360 is now a minor platform, they want people to move on, and thats absolutely understandable, you cant argue with that)
Yes, some of the missing features could have easily be implemented, but they were not left out because of the limited X360 capabilities, they were left out to give people a reason to buy the new console. Thats how it works, just look at the smartphone sector and you will understand.
Even more nonsense! Never ever was a console ahead of PC technology at the time of its release. Consoles are based on PC technology and the decision about which core-techologies will be used is made way before the platform will see daylight. So its basically using PC based hardware thats two years old already…
The only difference is that the technical progress of computer technology has slowed down a bit. And this reduced the gap between high-end and mid-range hardware. When the X360 was released, its computing power was comparable to high-end PC systems, and now after the gap is much smaller, a mid-range PC can match the XBO power.
This is what I took from the above quoted post → I’ve not got an XB1 and I’m annoyed that my copy of FH2 on X360 doesn’t look as good as it does on XB1 and is missing some features., So now I’m going to troll game forums and slate the XB1, FH2, Turn 10 Studios and anyone else who doesn’t agree with me… ←
I fail to see how you can say that the XB1 version of Horizon 2 doesn’t look as good as Horizon 1 on the X360…! That is being totally delusional and you are just misleading yourself. I doubt there’s one game developer out there who doesn’t want their work to look as good as possible… FH2 on the XB1 looks every bit as good as FM5 does.
I can understand that as an X360 owner you want the best games possible, but at some point you’ll need to go Next-Gen to get the best looking games with all of the features available. Ubisoft have stated that they intend to wind down development for both the X360 & PS3 in 2015, and others will be sure to follow soon…
The comparisons between the two Xbox consoles is clearly evident on every game that is available on both Xbox consoles and after almost a year of the XB1 being available I’m surprised that people still get upset the XB1 version of a game will be the better version to have…
PATCH in tuning capabilities, and matching XB1 engine swaps to the 360 version plz T10. It’s 2014, tuning and engine swap aren’t memory hogging, high processing rocket science. Thank for the game on the 360, I love this game and how it lets you really cruse the roads. But plz let us be able to use the game if not to it’s full potential, to it’s best on the 360. Go out strong on the 360 with the last game you will make for the console. Show the other companies how it should be done when it comes to fun support.
You’re wasting your breath, theres gonna be a million more threads like this where people will think Sumo didnt try hard enough and made a half game or whatever.
