Will you be buying it? /Cloud syncing problems in the previous games

I have been a fan of Forza Motorsport games since the very first one released. I have put in many hours into all of the games and enjoyed every minute I was able to play. Since the release of Forza Motorsport 5 and Forza horizon 2 . I have lost all my progress in each game due to cloud syncing… It has been a couple weeks since I have played forza horizon 2 and was excited to grab the dlc for The Fast and Furious. But guess what guys!!! CANT PLAY. Forza Horizon 2 starts up and decided to start syncing for quite some time so I decide to quit syncing and see if it will load up… but the game then loads forever and never get into game play. This happens each time I load up Forza horizon 2. And everytime on Forza Motorsport 5. Im just so done with forza now. all the hours spent playing this game and cant even relax and do a couple races. all my tunes. paintjobs. cars. ingame cash along with some real cash. gone. just gone. I honestly do not think i will be buying Forza Motorsport 6 as i do not want to be let down again.

I will. Because I enjoy Forza, and can wait out any issues that may happen.

I’m all in. For me, Forza has always been a good value for the money. Plus, I’ve never experienced any such syncing or file corruption issues.

Absolutely! Sorry to hear about your issues and hopefully they get resolved for you to enjoy

I will, but I’m also concerned about that happening.

I lost everything in Forza 5 (and haven’t played it since) because of all this cloud crap, so I really hope they either fix it or just get rid of it altogether. As it is, the benefits provided by it aren’t really worth the risk of having all of the data randomly erased or made inaccessible.

At least give us the ability to opt out of saving everything to the cloud for Forza 6. I’d gladly give up Drivatars and whatnot if it means that I won’t turn on the game one day only to find that I can’t access any of my cars, designs or vinyl groups (again.)

Another thing to keep in mind is that, despite how many complaints there have been regarding lost saves and sync issues, those reports make up a very small number of the millions of gamers who own those games. Additionally, without having observed their method of quitting the game, there is the possibility that these are problems encountered when one shuts down the game or turns off the console during an autosave process.

In short: to anyone apprehensive to buy strictly on the basis of game save issues or sync problems, do realize you’re making that decision (albeit, its your choice) on a small population of gamers who have experienced an issue that can be caused by user error.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I never shut the game or console off while it was saving, so it wasn’t user error in my case. I just turned it on one day and couldn’t play it.

I’m another who lost his game save in Forza 5. I too can’t remember doing anything different before I realised my save had been lost. My hope is the save for Forza 6 is more robust. If the reason for a loss of data is due to ‘user error’ then there should be a safeguard in place against that happening.

First of all - It is NOT millions - maybe a couple million. Second, there are MANY - TOO MANY of us who have lost SIGNIFICANT PROGRESS with NO RELIEF or NO ASSISTANCE or NO OFFER of any return of Credits or XP or VIP exclusive downloads. I don’t care what you may say about it being MY FAULT - IT ABSOLUTELY WAS NOT MY FAULT that suddenly I was LEVEL ZERO one day when the previous day I was LEVEL 1260+.

ANY PERCENTAGE GREATER THAN ZERO IS TOO MANY - In this case it is clearly greater than 1% of the players. That is WAY TOO HIGH. LET ME SAVE MY OWN PROGRESS Then tell me its’s my fault because I failed to back up my game save. If you deny me that option you better be PERFECT

Wait till it happens to YOU.

It happened to me in Forza 5.

There are offers of assistance. PM HeliosT10 and get credits back to refill your garage.

I very much doubt it is more than 1% of players.

I hear ya, bro, and no one is blaming you for being upset, but I’d like to point a few things out.

1- 2 million IS millionS. Millions have played. Of those millions, how many post here? Hundreds? Dozens? Either way, it’s a tiny fraction, and only a fraction of that fraction have had this problem. Shadow Edge is correct in his assessment.

2- No one accused you of doing anything wrong, per sé. Shadow merely pointed out that an improper game exit or console shutdown COULD cause sync errors and gamesave loss. Before shutting down my console I always back out to the launch screen and quit the game from the dashboard. I’ve had no issues with sync or save in either FM5 or FH2 knocks on wood.

3- Gamesave corruption is nothing new, and is hardly unique to T10, PG, The Cloud, or to Forza games. I’ve lost saves on PS1, PS2, original xbox, xbox 360, and PC. Stuff happens.

Like I said, I can understand you’d be miffed, so would I. But, it’s just not worth Microsoft or T10’s time and resources to investigate these lost saves, many of which could be the result of user error. Small comfort to someone who’s lost a level 1,200 profile through no fault of their own, I know, but it is what it is.

At the end of the day, it’s just a videya-game, yeah?

Tomatoes, tomatoes.

It is unfortunate and I do sympathize with the situation. I never said the loss of gameplay progress was an enjoyable circumstance.

I had never accused anybody by saying anything was their fault. Hence, my use of “there is the possibility” and “can be caused by.” I pointed no fingers at anyone.

I agree that any loss of gameplay progress beyond the gamer’s control is inexcusable and disheartening.

Again, I wished nothing ill on you, nor did I ever claim anyone to be at fault for the loss of their gameplay data. That said, as someone who has played Forza for 10 years and has never experienced a corrupted file or failed sync, I don’t look forward to the day should it actually occur. I think that is a sentiment shared by many others who cherish the time and effort they’ve put in, no matter how great or small.

Overall, I think you have misinterpreted my message. It was simple: the nature of corrupted Forza game save files and failed sync processes is undetermined (for all we know). That is to say that fearing such a thing as the reason for not purchasing Forza Motorsport 6 is rather unfounded at this point. Similarly, touting that as a reason to ward off others from purchasing the next Forza title is a bit fear mongering. Beyond that, I was not suggesting that gamers were responsible for the loss of their Forza data, only that gamers should be careful when ending their Forza session to ensure they are not contributing to the loss of their progress.

Lastly, I recommend you shoot HeliosT10 a private message with the details of your situation and the subject “Forza Motorsport 5 save game loss”. He has expressed his willingness to try and help out those who have encountered a loss of gave save data.

I shall purchase FM6.

I’ve never had issues with FM5 or FH2, but I’ve heard some horror stories to be sure, especially with preordered digital copies.

I’ll get an on-disc copy just to be safe.

NEVER CANCEL A SYNC

Let it finish.

If you cancel a sync you can corrupt it for all future attempts.

Sadly Forza games take forever for a full sync.

I also believe there is an issue in FH2 where the saving to the cloud process gets stuck and if you quit the game when its stuck that this may cause the issue. You can tell if its stuck by looking for the little circle in the bottom right of the screen.

I think the trigger was the dismissive tone.

I know if I lost all my paints I’d be seeing red and not fit for public interaction. Credits won’t fix that. And someone talking about it like it’s no big deal, to me just shows their true character. Quoting imaginary statistics and percentages is irrelevent. Reinforced by all the quotes and explanations, cause you know, we can’t comprehend english or you know, read…

Truly epic fail.

IF they can’t figure out what’s causing this, the need to either design the process so it CAN’T happen, or design in a fail safe ALWAYS WORKS recovery process. Anything less is UNACCEPTABLE.

To all of you - my apologies if it seemed I was making a personal attack on you, although I have long ago tired of many of the self-anointed “defenders of the T10 Realm” well . . . I must admit i went on a rant. Just Frustration ya think? I meant no personal attack on anyone - just needed to release a little . . . well . . . anger.
I’m not going to stop playing FM5 - I’ve run myself back to level 60+ in a couple of weeks.
I’m definitely going to BUY and ENJOY FM6 whenever it comes out.
BUT
The game loss is not only frustrating . . . it is interesting to say the least.
Here is what was LOST: Credits, Level, Cars, Percent Completion, Career Progress, My Stats, Affinity, Player Status, Badges, Titles
Here is what was NOT LOST: Leaderboard Times, Rivals Times, Saved Tunes, Saved Paints, Achievements (Even the progress on the accumulation ones) but they all show “new” in the Forza Profile
Here is what was RECOVERABLE: VIP and Purchased DLC like car packs, etc.

Thanks for the tip - I’ll send a private message to HeliosT10 and see what might be available. When you had all the expensive cars in a nearly full garage and close to 100,000,000 credits, It’s hard to learn the patience for acquiring credits to buy the exotics. This is clearly one of those times when the simple idea being able to gift a car would be a nice feature.

Lost your signature picture too…

I’ll buy it since I haven’t completely written off forza.

Not sure if i’ll get a special edition since the value provided is minimal and I can use the extra bit of cash on a number of projects for my 60’s c-10.

Could care less if I lose everything in a sync problem. I no longer need forza for my v8 driving fix.

I have to agree on the LE, until I see something on it, it’s very up in the air. As to VIP, maybe.

I will be buying Forza 6 as well. I fortunately, have not had any problems with the game and have enjoyed FM5 very much. Although, I find myself going back to FM4 from time to time just because of the vast features it offers over FM5. One thing in particular I would very much like to see return is spectating while you’re waiting for a MP event to finish. But can’t wait to see what FM6 offers us and hopefully T10 will crank up the intensity level. I have faith.
