EA WRC has good car sounds and NFS Unbound sounds are decent with the option of adjustment
yes I Agree with you the car Sounds in Those Games Are far Superior to “Build from the Ground up” Does Microsoft Think we are Stupid or something there has been alot of comparisons from GT7 & Older Forza motorsport Games that Did Everything Better But not perfect of course
The sound difference between the exhausts is underwelming like the whole sound.
But even more underwelming is the fact that changing the exhaust have no visual change. it looks always the same.
the devs of fm8 should play gran turismo7 for just a hour to learn things!!!
You think they play racing games? I don’t even think they play this game
On top of the myriad of other issues, the audio whilst not awful, is not innovative or revolutionary in anyway shape or form. Did Turn 10 promise revolutionary?
No, I don’t think so.
Having said that, why not though?
Why not be the developer that initiated a revolution in audio tech and especially for racing games?
Its the other quadrant of the immersion and authenticity we seek aside from graphics, physics and features…
It does indeed smell of laziness.
The question then should be asked is, if audio is NOT the main draw here, then what else is?
Look, Turn 10 have been hammered since the game’s release, and rightly so. But it doesn’t mean we, the fans, dont care to try and perhaps offer up some advice, support and suggestions to try and turn things around for a potential next game.
I would LOVE for Turn 10 and Forza to have the best sounding game in history!
Audio, is my FAVOURITE part of racing games. Serioulsy, I can revel ALL DAY in the sound of a howling V10, a thumping V8, a singing straight 6 or a whirring 4…ALL DAY LONG!
Anyway, topic at hand. Yes, I really wished they did something with the sounds. Adding the option to change notes and sounds depending on mods applied(Exhaust, Headers, Camshaft,Intake,Gearbox…etc) would’ve been most acceptable to me.
But not even a peep of difference when taking a 100 HP stoick production vehicle that’s turned into a fire breathing, dedicated track monster?
C’mon, not a single difference in sound?
LORD HAVE MERCY!!
Oddly the changes are subtle when they should be massive, but they are there. Nothing like FH5.
Also like Gran Turismo used to have standard and premium models, this game has standard and premium engine sounds. The premium sounds are more noticeable when changing exhaust. I upgraded my Datsun 510 and freaking fell in love with the exhaust note after changing exhaust, definitely a premium sound on that one.
Great post. Agree on all the OPs points and/or grievances.
LOL… That last comment…
Yea they flagged and removed it because they didn’t like how I mentioned what they did to their own bed.
But like I said:
Great responses from everyone here. It truly seems like the gaming community has more love for Forza than the people who made it.
Gameplay is great, but Forza Motorsport’s terrible audio and lack of upgrade based sound changes completely ruins the experience.
Also, the fact that we can’t get any information from Turn 10 about our concerns, just goes to show that their past success has made them arrogant and now, their lack of innovation is embarrassing.
With all the time their saving by not communcating with the diminishing fanbase, you would thing they could at least add a DRAG TRACK TO USE THE DRAG TIRES.
Or maybe more than ONE ADJUSTABLE WING AFTER A DECADE.
Let’s see if they flag and remove this post too. At least we’ll know that they read it.
The thing is the previous turn10 had passionate devs and actual love for the cars and the franchise. Those guys aren’t in T10 anymore. And you know that Dan Greenwalt brought success to the previous titles. FM4 had Mike Caviezel the lead sound engineer for which all the car sounded amazing. It is safe to say that we need these 2 legends back to revive the glory of Forza again.
We all love Forza but this Fm2023 is nothing but a half baked cake.
Caviezel and Greenawalt - where arrrre yooouu?!!
LOL - seriously, bring these two back and inject some real passion into the game.
Update #7 just came out with some more garbage nobody asked for.
I swear TURN10 is just a trash company at this point.
Still no sound fix. Nothing from these bums, but another track for my cars to sound like lawnmowers on, after I install evey upgrade available.
Forza Motorsport 8 is a re-skinned money grab at it worst and a disabled, pedestrian effort at its best.
When Forza Motorsport 9 drops, im going to let it fall.
I haven’t done too many upgrades yet but it’s disappointing to see that the sound doesn’t change. Individual parts IRL change the sound dramatically, believe me. It’s always nice to see such nuances in a game although I imagine it may be time consuming and resource draining.
I noticed that not that much detail has gone into the Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche sounds. Where I’m from, people drive them all the time. The sounds appear to be quite artificial and not representative of the actual cars.
I don’t know… I can’t imagine wanting anything to change the sound of a Ferrari exhaust sound. Or any of the great cars… Porche, BMW, Lambo, etc… I just wish they would fix the exhaust sound in some of the cars so it doesn’t sound like a cartoon.
None of these game makers can get it right after all these years since gt and early forza. Cams change exhaust sounds, from stock to choppy like a drag car. In the game they got exhaust making a car sound like it had a cam in it. Only thing exhaust should do is go from quiet to open header race exhaust in stages. Same way with the cams maybe I want a street cam or wana go wild and have a full race cam. Should be sound differences between cams. Get rid of those stupid driver suits. Add more customizing- like how deep dish the wheels you want would be great, exhaust customizing-fender or hood or side exhaust. I mean cmon even gta you can do that… talk wana rival gran turismo but you couldn’t even finish detailing the underside of cars. Blower and turbo sounds arnt loud enough even after conversion some cars you barely hear it.
Here’s some sounds for you to check out
FM 2 did this well!
The cams, intake, exhaust, even piston and displacement upgrades, everything made a difference going from street to sport to race.
We have regressed so much in terms of sound. It’s sad and infuriating at the same time.
Feel like I need to buy a copy of this game
Speaking of Ferrari… the forza gt version um the Cadillac and a few other cars are a complete dog on take off. Bouncing the tach and the race car just falls on its face won’t move. Have to bump the clutch and it takes right off smoking tires. It’s not my gear ratio. And anything higher than 4.88 gear ratio is tire burners. Hope they look into some of these cars and fix this issue.
Well that’s obvious when we get the monthly update and it’s full of bugs. And every update comes with the same warning to please list any bugs in the proper support areas. They know they are unloading untested updates for us “the army of tester” to test and report.
