WILL THERE EVER BE A PATCH THAT CHANGES THE SOUND WHEN YOU UPGRADE EXHAUST OR INTAKE?

The gameplay really is great, BUT come on now. How is there no audio differences when upgrading exhaust, air filters or intake? How much longer do we have to wait for the promised experience of FM8??

It’s just so disappointing. It’s just not exciting. It’s not entertaining. It feels like a pedestrian effort from Turn 10. I know there are lot’s of players that feel the same way and I haven’t seen Turn 10 even mention that they would do something about it.

Really a shame.

Yeah there is something really weird about the engine sound and the upgrades. In FH5 it works perfectly fine, but not in FM23.

Would be nice to be able to hear the sounds in the upgrade section like FH5. Awfully annoying to have to fit the parts go for a drive, sigh in disappointment then repeat for any other part you want to try

Yes it’s also very lazy that we can’t look at our car in 3D freecam while applying bodykits, spoilers, sideskirts, bumpers, rims etc. like we can in FH5.

Why can’t they just copy and paste the whole upgrade aspect from FH5 while they’re at it.

Anti lag, wheel spacers etc would be great.

Seems silly that they’ve never ever had feature parity between the 2 games.

And also very important 4 (Drift) and 6-10 gear transmissions. If you got a car with a stock 8 gear transmission, your are stuck with it, you can’t put a 6 gear transmission into the car. It’s annoying as hell. And there are no tyres with Forza Logos on them. I like it if my race cars have logos on their tyres printed in white or yellow. Or maybe they could add Michelin, Goodyear, Pirelli etc. decals for tyres.

I mean stuff like that.

They haven’t managed to allow decals on windows so I don’t hold out hope.

Does anyone know why they can’t just allow the decal to wrap around the car in a free form fashion so its not tied to a particular side of the car? Would fix the alignment issues that have been going on for years.

It has to do with how textures are applied to 3d objects. I’m not sure what your level of familiarity is with the subject, but basically, when you want to place images/ textures/ logos/ etc on a 3d object (a car, in this case) you need to figure out how to put a flat image on a non-flat (3d) surface. In order to do so, the image needs to be “projected” onto the object (think exactly like a movie projector casting an image onto a wall).

To further the movie analogy, it works great when you want to project the movie onto the wall. But what if you wanted to watch the movie on the ceiling? It wouldn’t work. You’d need to physically reposition the projector so that it is now casting its light upwards instead of toward the wall.

When you’re applying images to your cars in Forza, you’re essentially repositioning your movie projector so that the image will land on one of the sides, the top, back, etc. The difficulty lies with the 3d artist in deciding which parts of the 3d object belong to which projection. (A room with clearly defined walls, a ceiling and a floor is easy to texture…a car - with lots of curved and otherwise intricate surfaces - much less so.) These curved surfaces need to be “unwrapped” by the 3d artist in such a way as to minimize the resulting distortion of any flat image that’s projected onto it. (Think of wrapping paper around a basketball as an example).

Because of this necessary process of breaking up the car into different projections or “zones”, you’re always going to get seams if you want an image to wrap from one zone to another. However, if the 3d artist has done a good job with unwrapping the model, the seams will be minimal or maybe even unnoticeable.

Sorry, that was more long-winded than i intended, apologies if it came across as mansplaining.

That was very informative and I appreciate the level of detail you went into. No need to apologise

Don’t disrespect EA like that - they care much more about their customers than Turn 10 and Microsoft.

It’s not EA who cares about the customers, it’s the studios under EA, like Dice and such.

There’s a mod on Nexus that does this. I cannot see why the developers couldn’t add Forza branding to the tires.

On horizon you can be banned for using mod, idk how is it for FM

Seeing as it is an online game, I would say a ban is highly likely for modding the game files.

If I were trying to steer people towards modding the game, I would have linked the mod or used its name. I didn’t because I wasn’t trying to suggest, sell or promote modding with my reply. I only pointed out that users (loosely applied here) have managed to implement this, and I wonder why the developers cannot add branded sidewalls to the game.

Anyone who mods FM, are on their own.
