So are we finally going to see upgraded exhaust pipes on our cars? Or will it still be a 1000+ HP car with stock garden hoses coming out the back?
Will engine upgrades now make a noticeable difference on the car’s audio soul and character like it does IRL? If no to both these, then I guess no point in upgrading.
@The Artistig 01 What do you mean by that comment? Exhaust tip upgrades have been non-existent since FM3.
@DUST2DEATH Not sure what you’re getting at mate. An exhaust upgrade means the tip of the exhaust changes just like the car physically looks different when you put on a bodykit, wider tires, suspension upgrades. Why does my car still show a stock exhaust pipe after I apply FULL engine upgrades? It’s really silly and something T10 has been overlooking without much consequence. I guess if exhaust don’t show then there’s no need to show wider tires, lowered suspension, aftermarket bumper and wing upgrades etc. Get my point bud?
Yeah, changing exaust appearance, which wouldn’t be hard to do, would be nice. Making each tier different but same for each car, just adjusted size to fit.
Now changing the car sounds with each exaust system ‘upgrade’, that would be absolute game changer. Having the same car sound no matter how upgraded it is, is one of few things I don’t like about Forza.
Yeah the car sound change never really made an appearance after FM2 - in that installment, you’d hear the character changing even between street, sport and race upgrades (exhaust and cam both).
It’s a real shame. They keep subtracting the things that made the previous games so great.
But why wouldn’t they add this as a feature already? How ridiculous is it to boost your ride to the max and still see stock pipes coming out the back?!
It was in FM2 and it should be brought back already. And it could just be a few generic looking street, sport and race exhausts. They don’t even have to be licensed or anything. Come on T10, you gotta stop omitting the great stuff from previous games for heaven’s sakes!
Furthermore, the option to try on different aftermarket exhausts and forced induction kits would be insane as it would give your car different sounds. Now that may or may not require a license.
Sadly it’s just corner cutting to save money. Yeah, they could put it back, but there are more important NEW things to implement like floppy wipers. Time is money in this business and the least amount of time possible yields the greatest amount of moolah.
It makes totally sense for the exhaust to sound and look different between the street, sport, or race options. I also think that once a feature like that is implemented, the type of exhaust shouldn’t effect horsepower. In real life catbacks don’t do much HP wise anyways. The catback is the last thing a tuner will touch if they are looking to gain power. Not to mention it would make all the lambo swaps a little more tolerable.
When I upgrade my brakes I can see the upgrade. When I use different springs I can see the difference. Not to mention there are 50 thousand rims to choose from. How hard would it be to model an exhaust tip for each street, sport, and race that works with model collisions on 95% of the cars?
The Tokyo Xtreme Racer series managed to offer multiple exhaust types nearly 20 years ago on consoles less powerful than today’s mobile phones, running purely off a CD so for the 7th iteration of Forza to not offer it in 2017 is a glaring failure.
Yes, a glaring failure indeed. As @EnvidiaPro pointed out, it’s now become more about raking in the money and getting awards, sales numbers, growing in popularity etc. Forza used to be ALL about quality on the original Xbox and Xbox 360. Now all they care about is resolution, and adding features that do not necessarily add to the core gameplay. Why the heck did exhaust tips get taken out of FM3 to begin with? Does adding more cars means that they still have stock pipes at the rear and exhaust systems + engines that sound exactly the same after full upgrades? What is the point of buying and modding all my cars if they don’t sound and look different post-upgrade?
In some ways, Forza has achieved a number of milestones in the console gaming world but in other ways, it is a sad day for gaming. We’re actually seeing the developers adding in stuff like flappy wipers and driver gear instead of making the CORE track driving experience better; proper cockpit animations, believable physics and suspension movement, upgrades truly influencing your car’s audio character etc.
We can discuss this all we want, but why won’t the developers wake up and return to their roots: quality over quantity? Do you think T10 would do things differently if MS weren’t in the mix? I really miss the quality that Forza used to pack. Now its all about the glamour and very little attention paid to depth and the little nuances that made Forza so great initially. I very frankly believe their best work to date was showcased in FM2, 4 and 5.
Remember Turn 10 is a business and their ultimate goal is profit. They do not actually care about what you want or don’t want if you are a part of the minority.
Yes, unfortunately - if only over 80% of the folks visiting these forums voiced concerns over cockpit wheel animation, they’d fix it. I have no doubt they will. It’s not like its going to put a major drain on resources. I just don’t like the lack of innovation, that’s all. Why have such beautifully detailed cockpits - why even go through the trouble - when you’re half-arsing the gear shift and wheel animations? It’s just a crying shame.
Not a complaint, but an observation. It seems the game has so many assets its hard to invest proper detail into every single item. There are a lot of small things that bother me a lot as someone who has invested hundreds of dollars into the franchise, just off the top of my head-
R-32 still has no bodykits
S-15 model is completely off and obviously not laser scanned
240sx has a Rocket Bunny Widebody kit with the GT wing mounts attached to the back of the car but no actual GT Wing
Pretty sure RX7 FD is missing its stock wing as well
Forza Motorsport is trying to do everything all at once by throwing as many assets at the consumer as possible. How well it accomplishes that goal is another matter entirely. Honestly I’d be happy if they took a year off to fix all the minor details.
