I don’t understand why there’s so much hate towards this game when turn 10 have created an almost perfect Forza.
They’ve delivered on pretty much everything the community has wanted from a Forza motorsport.
A career mode with real progression, levelling and building cars to compete in hundreds of events and cars that will get added to the game for free over the coming months and years
Multiplayer is the best it’s ever been with practice, qualifying and race regulations which is actually fun to play
Fantastic car physics
Great car and track list with more to come in the future
A career mode in a race car track sim that is completely devoid of race cars and has 12 hours of content where the previous game had 75-100hrs.
87% good new physics that may be tuned in to near perfection in the future.
An artificially stunted car list, With even more cuts to the track list. All hamstrung by the fact you cant adjust race length for career like previous titles, and the car selection hamstrung by the effort necessary to get a car race worthy, even in its own class category.
Theres laundry lists of issues. One of which is a thread entirely by me.
There are other lists by the actual devs of issues the game has.
The AI just absolutely do NOT work and behave how they were advertised as doing.
There are tons of fundamental design flaws that flood out the myriad of technical issues with the game that are concerning for the future of development because it seems they’ve lost some basic handbook on how to design systems and basic functions.
This game has had us wait 6 years after a poor last entry. Thats 6 years of ‘making do’.
And now it feels like were still ‘making do’
Because way better games have come before it, and there is no excuse for why it isn’t competent right out the gate. There is as said an absolute abysmal amount of problems with bugs and crashes without even mentioning the lack of features that are staples of the franchise. We believed in this team to make a special game and what we got is a barely functioning husk.
Where are these hundreds of events in career mode you speak of?
And this is a great track list…
Done by a much smaller studio, for a smaller game with what would have been a vastly smaller budget.
FM has 20 environments, the lowest number since FM5 and within that 20 all these variants are missing that have been in FM previously…
Catalunya School.
Homestead, several of it’s shorter course variants.
Indianapolis, two.
Le Mans Bugatti.
Lime Rock is missing the variant where only the 2nd chicane gets used (yet bizarrely has both the variant using the 1st chicane and the full circuit alt where both chicanes are used).
Maple Valley has no reverse full circuit available yet it does for the short one.
Road America, West + both the Full/West alts.
Suzuka West.
VIR Patriot even though the 2 Grand layouts that go into each half of the Patriot track are present.
And finally both alts of Watkins Glen, which I personally found more enjoyable and made the track flow miles better.
You sound like someone who hasn’t been playing racing games/games in general for long, outside of the physics + graphics this is not even close to the best in any department compared to other racers of the past.
You want to know what a proper career mode looks like? Go and see the 3rd or 4th titles in either this series or Gran Turismo, the entire amount of races in this new FM’s career mode might just about equate to one league in the now 22 year old Gran Turismo 3, and it wouldn’t even fully fill a single section of FM3/FM4’s huge event lists.
The car mastery has absolutely no reason to exist, please do not try and dress it up as ‘real progression’ or ‘building cars’, it is unrealistic and bears absolutely no relation to real life motorsport or cars in general, which is what this game is supposedly trying to take a bigger step towards is it not? Garages don’t lock away aftermarket parts to customers until they’ve driven a certain distance.
Imagine FIFA’s manager mode having an individual progress bar for every single team in their rubbish game and your budget is dependent on what level you are with that team, meaning initially you can’t do jack with any team at the start, that’s what this is in car form, padding on an unprecedented scale for a racing game.
It’s something anyone could have done in the 26 years since the first GT first brought simcade to the masses, there’s a reason they all didn’t until now, putting an unnecessary progress bar on every individual car is not ‘progression’, it’s lazy and cheap, the paltry amount of unique events should tell you that.
I don’t mean this as a personal attack against you OP but get in the real world mate, there’s negativity because it’s been in development for by far the longest of any game in the franchise’s history yet is missing basic features (no total race time or a simple ‘go to race’ option in career for example) and some of the design choices should never have got past being a passing thought in the minds of whoever first suggested them.
In short, other than some of the graphics + physics this is not what 6 years of progress looks like to many of us, not even close.
Theres 25 tours, 20 if you dont count the one off basically ‘showcase’ event at the end of each. Each one takes on average about 45 minutes to an hour, So less than 20 hours of content. I genuinely thought that the “builders cup” was just going to be the main featured tailored events for the scrubs, While we have the normal big board of championships with all the usual mashups and divisions, all the race cars and racing legends head to heads etc. But nope. Builders cup is all we get. Like getting one single rolo for halloween
You asking for a Reason? —> " Built From the Ground Up " → Director of Motorsport Content Arthur Shek - And this is what the People expected
The Main Problem of this Franchise is: They go always in the opposite direction of what the "Community is Asking for ! And the Reason for this is difficult to understand. We Pay a lot of Money for a “Game” - Give the People what they enjoy the most. It´s so Simple
We are now on Day 7 !!! since the Release. And not a Single Word from Arthur, Dan and Co. Nothing !!! What is the Plan? Waiting some weeks for a Patch? Or did they need more time to solve the problems? Are the problems repairable? Or did we have to accept the Game how it is?
Well I just played today, so I’m fresh-faced and raw right now with my opinion, but I’d have to say that it’s a combination of two things so far for me.
CarPG is a horrible idea, poorly implemented. Someone gave this about 5 seconds worth of thought before someone at the meeting yelled out “engagement numbers!” and the discussion was summarily swept under the carpet.
“The AI no longer cheats” was an outright, bald-faced lie. Within my few hours of playing the game, I’ve seen some blatant cheating out of the AI, the most egregious and obvious case was when a FWD Renault with 40 less PI and 4x as much fuel absolutely destroyed my AWD Subaru on a launch that I got just about perfect.
The AI is up to it’s old tricks too, bullying the player while being immune to the penalty system, and ganging up to sacrifice themselves in order to prevent the player from winning. The AI in PC2 is better than this.
Love giving space only to be rewarded with a double corner bomb.
People just like to complain, it’s the way of the world. Agree it’s great.
It has a few teething problems but trust they’ll be ironed out over time with a game so we’ll supported post-dev as Forza. I’m even enjoying multiplayer, which I normally can’t stand in any game.
One of the best things so far is how stripped back it is. My gaming time is being spent actually gaming and not being distracted by all the secondary stuff. Yes I’d like to see the various badges and stuff I’ve got so far and what the next level rewards will be etc but now I’m actually racing and improving all the time instead.
Hopefully they stick to their objectives, fix what needs fixing, and don’t concede too much to the noise.
Seems like the majority of games these days launch alongside a tide of negativity. Personally, I’ve been largely enjoying this game so far. However, whereas I’ve purchased every other Forza game I’ve played previously (usually the Ultimate/Gold/etc. edition when available), this time I’m doing so purely as a Game Pass user. If I had bought in I might have a different outlook.
Negativity isn’t free. Newly released games have a “net” of issues, and the smoother you go through the net, the less negative is your experience. A graphics card not well supported, a combination of hardware that wasn’t tested,… many things can go wrong, and all the negativity is coming from those who got stuck in the net, and if you know how the industry works, the chances for your particular bugs to be fixed are slim or may be delayed for a long period. Negativity isn’t free
