Why is finding an online 'race' sometimes so hard?!

I dont want to do online roadtrip as quite often you end up having to do both ‘king’ and ‘infected’ (boring and what KIDS would enjoy) as part of the 4 event championship, plus you cant even change car between races(why)?! and also those cross country races over the really uneven ground and long grass are also boring and very repetitive!

Then if I go into online freeroam there is hardly ever a time when I can set up a race on a circuit with a few other good players and just RACE!! I either get ‘event in progress’ message and cant join, or when I do I pick a car class etc, it loads for a bit to set the event up, then just kicks out back into the freeroam! Most of the events I join are people who wanna do drag race after drag race(boring AGAIN)

dont know what is going on but I fully expected FH2 to blow FH1 one out of the water and it isnt even as good as the first one(nowhere near in fact) why fix something that ISN’T broke?!

Public lobbies like that are quickly going the way of the dodo (not a day too soon, imo).

Get a group of buddies together and play private freeroam to do what you want.

And that my friend, is why I’m glad to see configurable lobbies die. Give people a choice and they will choose the same… thing… over… and… over… and… over…

Road trips are the answer to my driving-game prayers. No lobby, no waiting, just driving. You vote, then race. Heaven.

I agree with you that playground games are silly btw

Not sure why you think Public Lobbies are on their way out, Project Cars is coming out in March with them, Asseto Corsa is also coming outy with them as did GT5 & GT6 and games like iRacing have them.

Forza 5 & Horizon 2 have suffered greatly due to not having them…They are essential for racing titles.

Turn 10 just wants us to have friends, friends, and more friends, I guess.

OP, I feel your pain :frowning:
I’m not into road trips, playground games or Cross Country either. Freeroam is mostly just people mucking about so the options are limited. I get the same deal in freeroam, try to actually set up a race…well good luck finding anyone to join…and if they do they usually quit before the race is finished because they’re sore losers.

I know a bunch of racing games I won’t be playing, thanks!

The only ones who suffer from their absence are people who can only race one track with one car and want to repeat that combo 1,000,000x

I’ve told this story here before, but here goes: years ago I wandered into a room on another game. It had three or four of the top players in the world. #11 in the world asked that the host not choose a certain level… the host (like #2 in the world) stated “don’t worry, I can’t complete that level either.”

Yep. Ranked #2 and he didn’t even know how to make it to the finish. They then proceeded to play the same level over… and over… and over… and over…

I think they’re on the way out because there isn’t an XBONE game that has them… despite every forum (racing game or not) having a gaggle of folks crying that they just can’t live without them.

I suspect they are gone because they ruin the (now-invisible) TrueSkill ranking

youre not alone. i HATE free roam. its is very boring. everyone sucks. no one wants to race unless your doing a drag race. very boring , its actually making not even wanting to play anymore. WE NEED CUSTOM LOBBIES!!!

FH1 just seems like so much fun when I think back! used to spend hours in the lobbies,(would probably have played enough to earn gold wristband 3 times over) and some of the circuits were great! far more addictive than the new one(aint even played it for the last 5 days)

They really need to bring the old lobby format back if they make a third edition, cos I probably wont even bother buying it if not

Thats why I liked lobbies, you raced with likeminded people, this way it reminds of of NFS the run where it chooses what events will occur during the session and then players get to choose what they like, personally I only like racing and only do King etc when its compulsory lol, even then you can win the championship by xp not position so yeah xD

I do online roadtrips a lot and initially, I didn’t care much for King or Infected either. But they really grew on me. You have to drive in a completely different way but still well enough so that you are not caught. You become more aware of what your car is capable of in terms of agile maneuvers that you would hardly ever need in a race (when was the last time you needed to do a quick 180 around an obstacle in a race? Yet it can be a powerful move in these gamemodes) which I think helps improve your driving overall. At least, that has been my experience with it.

I look at offroad races in a similar vein. Maybe it is because of my setup (no traction control/stability management and I drive with a ff wheel, sometimes in cockpit view) but I find them very difficult. There is hardly any grip to turn or brake, the ground is uneven which sends you flying at even medium low speeds and of course you have no brakes in the air. For some reason I tend to flip my car a lot in cockpit view too, no idea why (what am i doing differently when driving in third person to avoid it?). Despite all of that, how difficult they are and how frustrating they can be, I don’t avoid them. They are good practice because they are so difficult.

Like you though, I enjoy sprints, circuts and road races the most. But I don’t mind the variation of other gamemodes. And I think they actively help me improve my skills at driving. Maybe roadtrips are not so bad after all, you never know.

I loved FH1. FH2 is the only full retail game I’ve ever bought as a download instead of getting a hard copy because I knew I’d be playing it for a year. I haven’t touched FH2 in almost a month, and no online lobbies is the reason why. Like almost everyone else (except the one guy who for whatever reason wants only options he likes) this kills the staying power of this game for me. Now, I’ve got this awesome game that doesn’t want to let me do the things I enjoy doing. That’s not fun.

I miss the Veteran Racers lobby from the first Horizon. Everyone voted for the car class and the course was picked at random and it was nothing but racing whether it be circuit, sprint or street race. If you wanted to do playground games or off road races then there was a separate lobbies specifically for those game types.

bangs head on desk in sympathy

(I do like CC though)

Any word if they are working on lobbies?

From all indications they’re not. The latest interview I read had the Devs saying how everyone keeps telling them how much they love the new online system without lobbies. It must be a cost/money issue because a lot of people evidently don’t like the current system but no one at T10 or Playground want to even address the issue. I and a lot of others have asked everyone and everywhere and not a single reply. I’d even be happier with a flat, No, not happening, than being left hoping and in the dark. Not that I’ve got any hope it’ll happen anymore.

we need custom lobbies.

I like playing infected and now (as far as I know) I can only play it in playground with KING and only on 3 tracks.

Sorry for my English, guys. I from Belarus.
I hate new multiplayer system on fh2
I like playing infected, but no one wants to connect to me
they are crap with a new system. maybe t10 will make a big patch if we have a lot of wishing turn back lobby?

Patch in a whole lobby system?!? Don’t hold your breath.
