Online road trips are boring. Take too long, winning races doesn’t mean you will win the road trip. (??) You are stuck with a car you might hate for about 45 minutes if you choose badly. Driving to races and events are just a waste of my time. This should have been a separate game mode for those that like the format. Cant kick people who are only interested in bumper cars
Online free roam is a disaster. Drag races galore. Lucky to get 1 or 2 others for a proper race. Spend more time driving to the events in order to start them than actually racing.
Horizon 1 was perfect online. Lobbies full of people all wanting the same thing, quick fire races, variation, changing cars to suit the tracks and event. And that winning a race actually means you WIN!! Being in control of the room, selecting the events from a list. So much win.
I love this game, single player is great and alot of fun BUT online is frustrating and dull for me and my friends who desperately want to enjoy this game playing together but we cant for the reasons above. And i know these are common complaints for this game, particularly for Forza regulars. I suppose i could just go back for F5 but i prefer these type of open world games these days and want to get to enjoy it properly, the way Horizon 1 was. (Perfection) And there is nothing much else to play in this genre.
Nothing is going to change in Forza Horizon 2, in regards to multiplayer, if that’s what you are asking. As for online, you mention you’ve got friends and you’re getting bored. Ever tried private online free roam? There, you dictate the events, the parameters of the events, and have full control of what is or is not tolerated. I suggest you check it out. I have great fun in Horizon 2 multiplayer via the private lobby features.
I want action packed races. Custom tournaments. Friendly banter with randoms.
You cant get that in private games either. Private races between 3 or 4 of us will get boring quick.
Horizon 2 online is a step backwards from the original.
I dont want to give the devs a hard time, or moan alot. They work hard and made a great game overall.
I feel that this is a oversight, and is likely effecting the longevity of the online community for this game. You cant do quick blast of a few races online. You have to set aside about an hour just to play a full online road trip. I also very rarely join a fresh one, always seem to join one half way through. Again, a waste of time competing in something i cannot win.
Online lobbies are found in the motorsport portion of the game.
I suggest you try playing with your friends and looking for the Private Free Roam. You can pick your events, set the parameters, make custom races with like minded people.
I enjoy going to Private Free Roam with my friends and we set our own race routes and race them. Another fun idea is to all start at the same place and have the leader set a group marker. Then, everyone sets their own green marker at a third location and you must race from the start to your marker and then to the group marker. This can also be altered by making the checkpoint at a hub and requiring a car change.
Have you done every bucket list event in both solo and multiplayer?
Have you completed all the championships?
Have you finished everything on Storm Island?
Hopefully there are still thngs you can do to enjoy the game. Also keep in mind that the F&F expansion drops this friday, then there is the April DLC, and in two weeks Project Cars launches.
They are some good ideas, thanks. Particularly the free roam markers.
But we need them lobbies for the proper races!
Definitely looking forward to project cars, just because it is something new! (And will probably have online lobbies) Bit disappointed with the online games so far this gen.
This game is absolutely terrific but the online road trips suck. If we had lobbies so you could actually do what you want to online it would do great things for the longevity of the game and customer loyalty. As it is unless you just want to drag race or enter S2 demolition derbies the online portion of this game is often just depressing. The online vote is just a tremendously bad idea and a really poor game mechanic.
I too preferred the online structure from Horizon 1. I feel the online road trips do serve their purpose and I do enjoy racing in them from time to time but having lobbies available as well would have been a nice added feature. That’s neither here nor there at this point though as the game will remain in its current state and it seems the majority of people have learned to live without lobbies or don’t miss them in the first place.
