Anyone believe turn 10 might add a lobby system similar to horizon 1 or the class hoppers from 5 I like the road trips but would rather drive different cars every race. . I know we can do freeroam but would be nice if we can a lobby like that set up
I doubt it.
Gameinformer just published an interview with Ralph Fulton and Alan Hartman (click here) and in it they mention the lack of multiplayer lobbies.
What was the team’s thinking behind the decision to not include traditional race- or location-based multiplayer lobbies? RF: Online multiplayer was something we really wanted to improve in Horizon 2, and that necessitated a real “back to the drawing board” approach. At the start of the project we thought hard about the experience we wanted our players to have, and something which runs through the whole game’s design is the idea that we never want you to stop driving; we always want to keep you in the world, having fun. You can see that in the design for ANNA as well – she’s there to help you out so you don’t have to pause and go to the map if you don’t want to. So with online, and specifically with the process of getting into online from the solo game, we challenged ourselves to come up with a way which allowed you to access multiplayer instantly, in a way which didn’t interrupt your gameplay experience. Having traditional lobbies wouldn’t have achieved that – lobbies take you out of the game and make you wait, and for some people that’s a reason not to try online in the first place. I think the seamless transition into online which we created is one of the reasons why so many more people are playing online in Horizon 2, and the feedback we’ve had on this feature has been amazingly positive.
Aw well…i doubt Forza games are ever going to be that great again online unless your in a league The way this and F5 is is putting me off playing online…so why not have it all to cater for everyone instead of those that dont want to wait in a lobby?
Exactly. I can’t stand the new system. It takes me away from driving a lot more than lobbies or hoppers because it takes forever to find the type of race, with more than one opponent, that I’m looking for. Social networking with your calendar out to set up races isn’t my idea of fun.
I’d like to know where they’re getting this amazingly positive feedback, as it surely isn’t from this forum, or r/forza. Making the player choose one car for four completely different races, and also forcing them into games of king and infected is an amazingly asinine take on multiplayer in a racing game. How about letting the user decide what game mode they’d like to play, and what car they’d like to use for it each time? Sitting in a lobby for an extra minute or two is nothing compared to the frustration of having to sit through multiple sessions of nonsense when you just want to race on tarmac.
Well said. Sadly I’m about to trade what was my most anticipated game of the year because of this. Great graphics and physics but the online experience is ruined because some people thought it would be good not to let players choose what type of race they want.
I bought this to RACE, not to play a stupid cat and mouse game or infected. This game mode is ruined.
As for online freeroam, i have to spend some time just driving to an event and i can hardly get more than 2 players in a game. No thanks.
Almost all online games uses a lobby and this is something we are all used too. Bring back a system like in the first Horizon. Pick a game mode and allow people to vote for a class after each race. It doesn’t have to be more complicated than this.
Yeah i’ve not seen anyone think the online system is better than lobbies…They must be talking about reviewers, The people that play the game for a week before moving on!
“lobbies take you out of the game and make you wait, and for some people that’s a reason not to try online in the first place”.
That has to be one the most absurd things I’ve ever heard. If that’s someone’s reason for not trying the online features then they must not really even want to play online anyway. What’s so terrible about waiting for the next race to start? God forbid we might have to wait three minutes to get what we want.
Sadly that is true for custom lobbies in Horizon. It’s one of the reasons I preferred the hoppers in Horizon given they are on a timed system.
So many times when I entered a custom lobby in Horizon there were people discussing the weather and other things and spent more time in the lobby than playing.
If I hosted a custom lobby people had to be on their game, pick their car and ready up.
I’m anyway with lobbies like what you say with them you have to wait, without them its quicker to get to the action
I do have a question, how do you know what online race your entering ?
like a drag or sprint, or cross country, i have cars for each but never know what race im entering until it is to late, maybe I’m missing something ?
Only trick I know is to catch a glimpse of the location as the car select screen loads up. If you see the airport blast wall or runway in the background, drag race. If you see buildings and/or trees, not a drag race.
Not much, I know, and not even 100% reliable, but it’s the best I can come up with.
Unless I’m online with real friends I don’t playany forza online anymore, which is hard for me because most of my mates stopped playing forza at F4, a few picked up F5 but returned within the year
I really enjoy horizon 2 but online is not player friendly imho.
Yeah, I agree with needing to expand and find new friends. If found myself racing with good clean racers that I originally met through the forums. It’s not always user friendly for us, but we adapt. So if you would all please take out your calendar and head over to the Racer’s Lounge…
Personally I really liked the H1 online…waiting for races too load gave me a chance too make another drink…lol now I have too ignore the drive too the next event so I can make a drink, and I get fast traveled instead…and I can’t stand those silly games of infected etc. I just wanna race dukes of hazard style in H2 and serious race in F5
