Why I am getting Project Cars 2 and NOT Forza 7

Let me start this by saying that I’ve been with the forza franchise since forza 2.

Anyway let me get right to the point.

I honestly believe that project cars 2 is the better game this year. Here’s why.

Cars: Everywhere I go I constantly see T10 boasting their “impressive” 700+ car list. This truly frustrates me as 90% of the cars are copy and pasted and outdated. Out of the 700 car list only a handful are new to the franchise, ok so they updated the liveries on some Indy cars and formula e cars but that doesn’t cut it. Also, the list is mostly filled up with cars that most won’t ever even lay a finger on. To be frank there’s just too many boring cars in the game. There is also cars that are useless online, even fully upgraded they aren’t at the top of the class for instance say a car that has a PI of 872 is not going to fair well against a car at 900 even if it’s in the same class. The cars to me all sound the same, any car with a v12, v8, v6, i6 and so on, all sound exactly alike, the only difference is some may rev a bit higher adding a slight difference in the sound of the car only at higher rpm, I know it’s not really that important but to me it just feels unfinished and rushed. My point is quality over quantity, project cars has less cars but they all have there own unique feel, sound, handling and tune setups, each car truly feels different even the cars in the same category.

Handling: While I have to give it to T10, the past forzas are a blast to play, easy to pick up but yet hard enough to master to be worth trying. However that being said, In project cars each car has its own feel (this is mainly for wheel users). Those who have played both know what I mean, each car has its own unique characteristics in terms of handling. For example in PC you can truly feel turbo lag and it feels realistic, in a car the second you hit full boost you don’t spin the tires for half mile at 600 or even 700hp, in PC the turbo lag feels like it should, not blowing the rear end out as easy as forza but still can get yourself in trouble also in PC they do a good job on making the front end feel lighter from the weight transfer from heavy acceleration when the turbo kicks in, that aside in forza most cars to me kinda feel the same as far as feeling what the cars doing, that could be the sloppy FFB but that’s just my opinion.

Tracks: If there is one area I have always thought forza needed to improve then it has to be the tracks. While yes, they are all beautifully recreated, we want more variety. There really hasn’t been too many tracks introduced apart from the bland fantasy tracks, and the one track dlc you, have to pay for (VIR, Homestead). PC2 contains about 70 tracks vs forza which I believe is around 30 counting the fantasy tracks.

Visuals: Yes forza looks stunning, but I feel like they are spending more time on the look of the game then anything. Ok the lightning is cool, for 9 year olds maybe? And the wipers move wow, play PC and see how far forza is behind in the little details like that. We want to see rubber building up on the track. The longer the race the more rubber on the racing line and impacts lap times.
The weather system I feel is just going to be another fixed option where you can choose, rain then clear and vice versa, like they did with day/night cycles. True dynamic weather is in PC, a 2 year old game now, and the weather is very manipulatable, I can’t see forza having a system as diverse as that.

Online: We all know forza multiplayer is atrocious. There is absolutely no penalty system in place for foul play so the idiots dilute the clean players in a lobby, making it pretty much unplayable once the player count exceeds 5 people it seems. We’ve asked to bring back custom public lobbies, one of forzas best features imo, but it was scrapped for some reason? No word if that’s back at least I haven’t seen anything relating to it. But oh well, at least I can drive around in a astronaut costume!!

Career: Most likely still going to be bland with just a over the top dramatic title screens and cutscenes. But for the most part I can most definitely see it being do a race here then here then here then here and now do a little showcase oh now your champion.

Just my opinion

Purchased Pcars and stopped playing as soon as apex came out so I could get used to the handling for Horizon 3 / Forza 7. Main reason: integrated paint shop. Millions of designs and some of them are absolutely beautiful. We can design replicas and do private races with a full grid of cars that look exactly like the real deal.

Yes I’ll agree the paint shop is definitely a good feature however, pc2 actually got a decent amount of licenses this year and features the liveries from real gt3 and gte cars and some more

I do think that is something pc2 will need, however the core of the game is focused on strictly racing so I’m ok with not having it personally.

Your part on the cars is dead wrong. Cars that seems useless to YOU are not useless to me. Also, are you saying any car before a set date is outdated or how did you come to that conclusion? I feel that’s also one of the “it’s not right by me so it’s not right at all” things again. I invite anyone to list a popular new car that isn’t in the game. Because I think a lot of people forget it’s only 2017. We have loads of cars that are new to the Motorsport series imported from the Horizon series. The Regera, Centenario, Aventador SV, Lotus 3-11, the Sunoco Lola, AMG GT-R, 2017 GTR, Huarya BC, a handful of Porches, the F1 car, GTA Spano, TAMO, the Subaru Rally twins, the Zenvo, Viper ACR, Ferrari tdf, a couple new BMWs, a few new Bentleys, like do you want me to continue? I guess T10 should apologize for not having cars that aren’t even out yet in their game, right?

Ok so you managed to come up with roughly 10 new cars. And when I say usless I mean for online racing for instance the corvette gt3 race car is so off pace of the Aston gt3 cars, so it’s pretty much usless (unless in the right hands against noobs in the Aston)

I think you misunderstood what I meant about the cars being outdated. For example in forza 6, what year was the the gtr? A 2012. What year did that game come out? 2015. See my point?

Secondly, most of the cars you listed while they are new, they’re not what we want, I feel like they’re catering to the 7 and 8 year olds going ooooh lamborghini. I wanna see more cars that aren’t some stupid Lamborghini concepts because let’s face it they’re only driven by the worst of the game (join a r class hopper) I would rather see cars that have an actual use, not to look cool and shoot flames.

Like I said before about updating I think that they should put the newest models in along with there past models to have more variety and not a car that is 5 years old.

Lastly calm down lol

I am calm, if you sensed hostility that’s an honest mistake. Also, just the new porches and bentleys alone make up 10. I would say a rough number of around 30 are new to the Motorsport series.

I do see your point, but then the 2017 GTR came out and now we have that. See my point?

And no, they’re not catering to the kids who play this game. Several have been wishlist cars for quite some time. Only 2 new lamborghini is hardly enough evidence to support your claim.

While I will agree that the PI system needs some touching up, if you can win in the underdog car, it’s not useless.

The drag racing looks pathetic, no prep just 3-2-1 go, then wait for 2 minutes, then wait, wait a little more. 1 more pass then the cycle starts again.

Same as it been for…6 years now?

Sad

Let me chime in here. I’m disappointed with Forza 7, I feel that yes, it looks amazing but as was said before a lot of the cars feel cut and pasted. A lot of the cars are ripped right from Horizon 3 with out any change ( specifically the Carrera, why all the rally mods??). I’m left with the impression that Turn 10 got a bit lazy and wanted to bump the car count by importing all the off-road, rally, baja trucks from Horizon 3. The car modifications, aerodynamically adjustable ones, are all the same, they haven’t changed in the past 3 games. We get the option to add huge spoilers, and splitters but none of them add to handling. I would add more this list but, in the end it just feels like the game is quanity over quality.

The whole roster of GT4 class in Project CARS 2 is outdated except for the Cayman. It was one of my favorite classes in the first installment. I don’t remember if they have the McLaren but I do know they don’t have the M4 nor the Shelby GT350, which might be added to the game as DLC in the future, but who knows.

They’re looking into promoting e-sports with the game and it clearly shows. GT3 is the most loved class by online racers in the game, so it’s the one that got the most new cars and the best balance. The community seldom races other stuff, because sim racers are like that, they want the trendy cars and as little unpredictability as possible. GT3 cars have legit assists and are not as difficult to drive as prototypes. The absence of the Porsche 919 as well as the addition of fictional prototypes considerably lessens any interest in the prototype classes.

Public servers in the first Project CARS were chaotic as well. Want fair racing, join a league instead.

Anyway, now that Project CARS 2 has Ferraris, Porsches, Lambos and a largely improved physics engine, they’re having a nasty attitude towards games like Forza which kinda put me off the community TBH. They were on the receiving end of trash talking from Assetto Corsa and rFactor 2 players and now decided to send it back. Unfortunately, SMS is as efficient at addressing issues with the game as Turn 10 is with Forza (that is, not much).

Ian Bell has always wanted to gun for Forza (hence why he decided it was a good idea to make NFS Shift for EA) but his current game is not Forza-like enough for people to jump ship. You can’t build cars, you can’t customize them, you can’t paint them (at least to my knowledge). So it’s not really a competitor to Forza.

So how is the career mode in pcars? That’s all I really care about
