Forza Motorsport 7 vs Project Cars 2

So the two premier racing games of 2017, which will you be getting? If not both, why one over the other?

I will buy Forza. Project Bugs is still unplayable and i dont want throw money to Slightly Mad Studios.

I’ll buy both and play whichever one proofs better. Too early and too little info available on both games to choose a favourite at this time.

I’m going with Forza at launch because over the years I’ve gotten way more enjoyment from the Forza franchise. Project Cars 1 was pretty unplayable for me with controller and it’s not for lack of trying. There were a ton of controller setups from online that I tried using and none of them really worked. Also, PC1 has been on sale a ton over the last couple years. I’ve seen it for as low as $7 for PC. I’m not saying that I would never give PC2 a try, but it would not be at full launch price. They do have some features that look cool. Probably a few months down the road when there’s a price drop and sale would be best. You will be able to pick up PC2 more discounted than FM7 as Microsoft doesn’t discount their new titles as much.

It’s going to be Forza 7 but only just for me. PC was absolutely unplayable on Xbox and PC due to ridiculous bugs, crashes and glitches. The game felt dodgy on a wheel due to these bugs and glitches and was unplayable on a controller. It was poorly polished and has very few cars and re-playability for me. I also didn’t like how the announced a sequel without fixing the first game (especially considering both were fan funded) and I’m also not a fan of Ian Bell in general if I’m honest. They’re were a lot more problems but I’d need to get out my checklist. Saying that PC had a penalty system which was a big plus for me, the force feedback on a wheel was far superior to fm6. I loved things like pit crews and mechanical failures. Qualifying was a big YES and I loved feeling like a part of the Race Weekend and dynamic weather was great.

Forza 6 was a very polished game. I prefer the physics over Project Cars as it was more predictable and again felt more polished. The physics of the rain in FM6 was astonishing and I absolutely loved night racing. The graphics were stunning and the variety in cars was very nice. I loved the showcased but despised the career. I love small things like Forza Vista and love painting and upgrading in FM6. On the other hand I hated the how much of an advantage the controller has over the wheel. The FFB is absolutely horrible and if you play gor over an hour on the TX the FFB goes to the left and it was never fixed. Online was a joke and the career and free play was lackluster.

I’m choosing FM7 because of the new career mode announced, new physics for the wheel, new cars and fan-requested returning tracks, the new afjudication system online and the apparent new leagues system. From what we’ve heard FM7 looks like it’s improving on most of the points I hated about FM6 which was still a great game.

I will buy both - I don’t consider them in competition with each other. Forza 6 and PC1 for example, are both great for different reasons to me. I suspect it will be the same with Forza 7 and PC2. I’m pretty stoked to see Forza on the PC, that will be interesting

cheers

I’ll probably go both

Yes project cars was buggy at launch no thanks is to Microsoft holding the patch back some would say intentionally

At least the project cars team are moving forward rather than a bit of polish here and there with more disciplines of racing and snow

I’ll wait until some official videos come out on how each one will look not on one x but on the one s

Hands down Project Cars 2. If Forza 7 ends up being a good game, I MIGHT get that later.

I’m tired of getting Forza games and just wondering, “wasn’t the forums complaining about this for the past ‘x’ games?” And then forcing myself to believe that its okay and what I wanted this entire time. Although, with the recent release of all these racing games, Turn10 might have realize that they actually have to start listening to the long time fans to actually make this an all around good racing game.

I’ve recently starting posting on the Project Cars forums and the developers actually talk to their fan base. They actually listen and make it known that they are listening. As compared to here where we complain and then find out on twitter that they kind of…might of…maybe listened?

The reviews are already out on Project Cars 2. The wheels FFB is improved (which is crazy considering that it was so good already), the controllers are no longer twitchy for pad players ( also proven from PC2 WIP videos), and the physics are closer to Assetto Corsa and iRacing (which means its the closest consolers are going to have to a simulator.)

Although, I do love the concept of Forza and their huge car list. How many times am I going to get boned by them before I realize they’re not really giving me what I want?

With the Play Anywhere thing this is the first time Turn10 are bringing a fully featured Forza Motorsport title to the PC (emphasis on “fully featured”, something Apex wasn’t). Therefore they cannot afford to make some of the mistakes they did with Horizon, as the competition will be much improved. Project Cars 2 is very promising but let’s see how polished it’ll be, because there were some major physics bugs with some cars in PC1 which remained unfixed.

However, I don’t think those titles are in direct competition with each other, because a major defining feature of the Forza series is the ability to collect and upgrade cars. You don’t do that in Project Cars. Their addon livery system was also terrible in PC1. The download system in FH3 has many flaws but it’s still a lot better than what existed in Project Cars 1 for the PC.

The physics engine of Forza also seems to be a fair bit simpler than that of Project Cars, considering the Xbox One X can get it to 4K at 60fps without breaking a sweat, whereas SMS has stated PC2 will probably use CBR to be able to reach 60fps. This indicates the game is more CPU-bound than FM7, as the looks of Forza are quite comparable.

To me the biggest obstacle in Turn10’s way is Microsoft and its horrible management, they could’ve had everything in the bag but they’re slow to develop and implement things that the competitors have had for years, which I find frustrating since I like the Microsoft ecosystem.

I think I will get Crackdown ie neither.

That does not say anything about the physics between these two games. It has always been the case that Microsoft, being the first party developer of this hardware and the game, have been able to squeeze out more performance than anyone else for all of their titles and definitely for the forza series.

Forza 7 for one major reason: When Project Cars 1 came out it was essentially an $60 Alpha Build of a game. And the subsequently poured in at least 12 major updates throughout it’s life and after all of that…the career calendar still has a good second of button lag. So, I’m passing on PC2 'cause I like my games to be out of development when I buy them. (Mind you, Forza 6’s lag in when equipping parts is inconsistent and completely awful, so I think I’d take a second of button delay over that mess, and Turn10 never fixed that problem, either.)

PCars, yes i’m a gold wmd member, Forza 7? depends how real player reviews it.

Love project cars(steering wheel) because of the qualification before a race and the realism overall. Forza allways has been my #1 before i started with a wheel, all those hours tuning engine-swapping and painting… so yeah i think both^^ to bad they both hasnt got Circuit park Zandvoort for the dutchies and asetta corsa does…

Does anyone own both FM7 and PC2? If so I’d love to get some honest comparisons of the two. Thanks

Physics is definitely different FM7 is easier and PC2 takes some skills as you can’t just go crazy also you would need to change the default controller settings.

FM7 wins designs/livery editor, car upgrades, 700+ cars, easier to play, sharing community, sound.

PC2 on my PS4 PRO…graphics/lighting, photo realistic, replay, car models, endless settings ie cockpit adjustments, hud, race almost anytime of the day (dynamic time), wipers & headlights can be turn on/off.

First off, mods, I hope this is ok to post here.

I’ve been an avid Forza player for years like most of us here. I’ve been understanding and generally not bothered by the lack of features/changes that Turn10 has made and I’m quite enjoying the game so far, however, the positive reviews about Project Cars 2 have got me intrigued. I’ve been hovering at the forums there, there was a significant patch already, their developers seem to be actively involved in the forums, responding/communicating with their base, and of course, the game seems much more simulator-oriented as well.

I’m not trying to turn this into a bash fest (either bashing Forza or PC2), but to those who’ve played it, can you over any insights or comparisons between the two?

What I’ve gathered from quick research…

PC2 = Fewer Cars, worse graphics, more tracks, more tuning options, better multiplayer, more simulator focused (tire changes, qualifying, etc.).

They are both are great games and i am having fun with both of them…

Zombie thread.

After having both for a year now, and playing both regularly, PC2 hands down. No question. The latest patch has totally unlocked the game’s potential. Yes, it’s a year late, and I have suffered through glitches for that long, but it’s finally there. I do use a controller BTW, not a wheel.

It is a deep, deep game. The online lobbies are great. Crashers/Rammers are almost completely unheard of. The tuning is amazing. The game does have a steep, steep learning curve, but once you get some knowledge and skill, it is so rewarding.

Playing Forza 7 is still fun, but not at all in the same way. I only play FM7 now, when I get an itch for a certain car lacking in PC2 ( usually muscle cars). If you like road cars, PC2 lacks, big time (this is a “RACE” sim after all, however if you like number plated purpose built racing cars, this game is paradise.

The track list is incomparable. It leaves FM7 in the dust. The only track it lacks is possibly Road Atlanta, and maybeMid Ohio (a little bit). It has every other track I want.

FM7 for sure has a better traction model, but that is the only place it feels better. I have driven many very powerful cars (real world, I used to race, amateur). Cars just don’t handle the way Forza says they do, when it comes to power and traction. There is just now way in hell a 900 HP, 5000 pound tank, riding on 255’s, is going to be as fast around RoAm (Road America) as 458/911/Viper.

That’s my favorite part of PC2, the overpowered wheeled sofas (and the rammers) are gone. The lobbies are for the most part filled with dedicated, pro quality drivers. In FM7, I am usually good for a podium finish, or at least top 5. In PC2, Ian mid pack at best, but I still have a ton of fun.

I like the premise of PCcars 2, bought it when the spirit of Le Mans pack came out but all I found was it was terrible on the controller, and apparently if ye run it on the OG Xbox, have a large grid with weather conditions included the handling physics go all over the place even more, I mean yeah forza is frustrating in the things it lacks but I know if I throw a race together with multiple classes with some rain I’ll actaully seen the end of the race no problem
