Why are the user made (and even the stock) liveries so low res and pixelated in Forza Horizon 3? I don’t recall this being an issue in FH2 and I KNOW it’s not an issue in FM6 or FM6 Apex. The cars look great but the paint jobs look like crap compared to previous editions of the game… It almost looks like the graphics were made really small and then simply zoomed up (making them very low res like old-school scaled sprites). Anyway, I can’t help but notice it even on the factory cars and the Racing models straight from Turn10. The same race cars in FM6 look excellent. In FH3 they don’t. It sucks.
Well your wrong to disagree because I took a pic of the exact same car with the same livery on it . I put them both in Photoshop side by side & The Horizon 3 looked terrible . I was super hyped for this game and had imported 150 of my best liveries. Then to my surprise I found that Playground & Turn 10 removed our rights to our own created content making it possible that anybody in less that 2 minutes can get your livery slap it on a car and then sell them in the auction house. I never agreed to that and would never paint if that was the case in any Forza game . I took everything I had and unshared it all liveries and vinyls. I have never felt so ripped off since Battlefield 4 release when it was unplayable for 6 months after it’s release ! I think they gave too much to the sky to make it pretty that they robbed livery resolution. They should have taken half the traffic away and half the sky resolution and given it to livery resolution.
Could be an issue with this being open world having a larger demand on computer resources in comparison to Motorsport, where they don’t have to render open world. Have you tried making comparisons when the cars are lined up for a circuit race.
Checked in Vista and the resolution in H3 is definitely lower than in FM6. I can understand the processing demands are higher for the renderings in H3. However, that shouldn’t apply to Vista or cut-scenes. In addition, it seems the paint booth camera angles and lighting here are vastly different (and not in a good way).
Frankly, I started in FM6 and I guess it spoiled me.
It’s FH3’s big shame, especially when you look at the cars of the all stars pack which all have high res liveries and don’t get ugly in close-up. I can see that they need to boost performance somehow, but at least the player’s car should have higher textures in race, and in photomode all should.
“A glitch is a short-lived fault in a system. It is often used to describe a transient fault that corrects itself, and is therefore difficult to troubleshoot.”
It wouldn’t be a ‘glitch’. It would be a bug… if it were not intentional. If it is intentional, it’s called a “feature”.
I have found them to be very low res. in all Forza games. It’s extremely frustrating to make highly detailed logos, only for them to look awful on the car
This is by far MUCH worse than in FM6. The VIP gifted cars in FM6 looked very sharp and detailed, not like these jagged edges and blurry blobs of FH3 VIP gift liveries.
That’s ridiculous! In the Forza Motorsports series the liveries are very high resolution and look great. It’s Horizon that has the issue (and maybe only FH3, as I would have to go back and look at the liveries in FH2… But I don’t recall them being as bad as they are in FH3…) certainly not Motorsport… The liveries in Motorsport can go up against any other racing sim I have played… If you disagree you should post pics to prove your point… as you are the one making the accusation.
It’s not ridiculous, its fact that this has been happening since as long as the livery editor has made its appearance. The amount has varied from game to game, but low resolution liveries have always been an issue to plague this feature. The livery gets compressed and flattened to not demand so much resources from the game. This is not anything new.
here’s the issue popping up across many of the games
This is my photo from Fm5, you can also see the compression from just using blank colored canvas as well, as the lines are blurry and not precise.
It’s one of the main reasons why I stay away from Liveries, as its one of the things that just bothers me when trying to take photos. Forza Motorsport 6 seems to look the best, but to act like it doesn’t happen there would be the only part that is ridiculous.
I have used many MANY user created liveries in FM4, FM5, FM6 and FH2 that look fantastic and are not at all low res. The problem with some of the liveries are that people make a small picture and then enlarge it so it is all pixelated and looks like crap. There are Liveries that are photo-realistic FFS! And some of the Cartoon/Anime Liveries are excellent and not low res or pixelated AT ALL. So I stand by my words that it is RIDICULOUS to state that the liveries in all the Forza games are “low res”. And I don’t know what you are seeing in the picture you posted but I am not seeing low res anything in that picture, it looks fine… Please show me some real proof that the liveries in FM5 and 6 are garbage… Go to this page: http://forums.forza.net/turn10_postsm494469.aspx#post_494469/ and tell me why those Liveries are no good? The are excellent and I want you to tell me otherwise… The point here in this thread is that the Liveries in FH3 are not up to par with the reat of the series… Even FM4 on the XBOX 360 were better! But to bring up that the Liveries have always been crap is pure garbage… I don;t know what’s up with you eyes but I suggest you need to get them checked! lol…
I haven’t even played FM6, but I think it’s quite terrible too. I have been making several vinyl groups in the editor, only to find out that scaling them down immensely on the car will make them pixelated/blurry sometimes resulting in not even seeing what the logo/emblem/whatever is about anymore.
