“Some of us complain because the guts of the game are quite good. It could be a great racing game, but it falls well short of it’s potential. I can only speak for myself, but it’s hard to watch one of my most beloved games get worse instead of better and the attitude of Greenwalt is that if we don’t like what they are doing with the franchise, then we can just go play something else. It’s frustrating.”
Agreed, this post is spot on. What T10 is doing to fans is like the age old science experiment where if you put a frog in water and quickly turn up the heat the frog jumps out. However, if you turn the heat up slowly then the frog will just stay there and boil. The Forza fans are like the frog in the water. Each new version has something removed, Forza 2 had in game tuning and other features that were removed with f3 and f4, forza 4 was the last awesome Forza, albeit with the in game tuning and other features removed. Forza 5 had lots of stuff removed, like cars and tracks, auction house, storefront, and most important, multiplayer lobby customization. Foza 6 is just like Forza 5 with more cars and worse multiplayer customization. The only thing they (T10) will listen too is action. If enough people made demands to put the stuff back in that made Forza great in the first place and not purchased the game for just one cycle they (T10) would quickly put the features back in that are being removed to lower the design cycle complexity of the developers but at the expense and enjoyment of the players.
During Forza 4 we had lots of fun. The “Guess the new DLC Cars” threads were so popular that we slowed the site to a near crawl.
I just got the game yesterday, and my Logitech G920 doesn’t get here until tomorrow. It’s been 8 years since I played with a pad, so it’s hard to fully judge FM6 right now.
The user created lobbies is what I miss the most from Forza 4. Always easy to find clean, fast and longer races.
edit: I miss the auction house too, not so much because of all the cars on there. But back in the day the tuning garages used to release their cars on that at a set price while also making well done threads on the forum to advertise it.
It wasn’t really needed per say, but it added a cool and unique element to the game. That sort of thing is what gravitated me towards this franchise in the first place.
I, for one, feel that overall, FM6 is a great game. Is it a hardcore sim? No. Is it perfect? No. Is it better than FM5? Absolutely, yes, yes, yes. Forza never was a hardcore sim. It lured me over to the Xbox and off of the PS2’s GT4 because it was much more fun to play. The physics were realistic enough to be immersive while being just “arcade” enough to not murder the fun factor. Just my opinion, here, having played every itineration of the franchise, but I think it generally does get better with each generation of game. And the driving physics are better than they’ve ever been. I agree that FM5 stood out in that it was a let-down, being buggy, crashy and generally feeling incomplete. FM5 was a low point of the series or sure, however I blame Microsoft for rushing the game so it would be ready for the Xbox One launch. The result of the rushed development meant it felt more like a tech demo than a game. FM6 feels much more polished and includes many of the features we have been clamoring for over the last decade. Night racing has returned since it’s omission from FM2, and we have rain racing. While there are some cars and tracks from the previous games I miss; I still look forward to what FM7 and FH3 will bring to the table, although in the meantime I’m enjoying FM6. Don’t pay attention to the haters, trolls and whiners.
Just imagine if all community of Forza was represented by a guy like you. I think Turn10 would not feel satisfied to know that their game is just a “great game” and that they don’t need to worry about people who point things that should be improved.
And for the OP, yes people who hate somethings in Forza are here because they loved the franchise and are giving feedback FOR FREE to the devs to improve their product.
It’s a shame thou that they didn’t care to reply to us. If there was a open communication channel it would be much better for the community and for the Turn10 itself.
The lack of feedback from Turn10 causes frustation to many people. Except for the ones who think it’s a great game, no need make things better.
You take my statement out of context, BMWBRAZIL. I never said FM6 was without flaws. I also never said we should simply accept those flaws. Absolutely we need to bring them to the dev’s attention so they can be addressed in future patches (or releases), and we should never stop requesting our dream features. I simply meant that we, the community, should not let those that hate on the game dampen our own enjoyment of the game.
Well I’m one of those who love the game. Boght the first Xbox just for the Forza Motorsport 1.
Worth mentioning what “X3R Monkey” said: “Lots of complaints from disappointed gamers, disappointed because they paid for the game and they love the game. Most Forza players don’t visit these forums, only a minority, most players who don’t like the game sell it back or don’t play it again and Turn 10 will never get a clue why they gave up on the game. That’s why they need to listen, because if you’re here, you must be caring about the game at least a little bit. Sometimes, I restrain myself from creating threads that will look like pure whining but if nobody tells them what we feel is wrong or could be bettered, they may never realize it.”
And then you say to them not pay attention to those who hate the game. Just quote me one post of any people on here who really said that HATE the game. There is none. People are just expressing to Turn10 what they could improve to make it better.
And oh don’t be so afraid to enjoy your game I will not dampen in your enjoyment.
Personally, I like driving in FM6 a whole lot more than driving in FM4. But, with respect to other aspects of the game, there was a lot more to like in FM4 and there’s a lot more to dislike in FM6.
For me the hate or dislike of the game is simply the areas they are changing are either heading in the wrong direction or just done in such a way that it removes my enjoyment.
I could not care less about whether we have rain or not. BUT I absolutely loath the puddles that we have.
Mods - well in the races that I have done (not a huge number) I only used mods in the tutorial type race when it asked me to. After that I just forgot about them. I don’t hate them being there but for me its dev time that could be spent elsewhere.
Longer races - some wanted them, I did not. What is meant by longer races? Some want 5 laps, some want 10. Why not include the career sliders like PCars. Win/Win. Right now I do not feel like doing longer races. In PCars I did one stupidly long race but then all enduros I cut down to the shorter timers (was it 2 hours?).
I like some of the new cars although I have stoppped playing before even driving some of them.
In contrast to some of the posts on here to me the driving model keeps dumbing down the experience and adding grip. It used to be the case that when an FM game came out I needed to get back into form before driving LMPs. This time I jumped into the Rebellion, with upgrades but no tuning and it was on rails. No getting into form needed. It was dull and boring and not challenging.
Whilst I have supported some dlc decisions others have annoyed me no end.
There are other factors too which I will not post again now.
This is a game I used to love but it seems my vision now differs from Turn 10s for the FM series. As Dan said in a tweet time to take my gaming time elsewhere.
Problem is this is an industry wide problem in my opinion.
Veteran difficulty on COD is now kindergarten mode. I used to be over the moon when I reached the end credtis on veteran out the box. Now its nothing. Gamers seem to demand that they should be able to beat games on the hardest difficulty irrespective of their skill.
Maybe its our own doing.
All up games are becoming quite mindnumbingly boring and easy in my opinion and therefore not really worth the entrance fee.
Turn 10 ignoring people over years and thats why the frustrating is that high. The sales of fm6 are not that great whe all expected. A lot of loyal forza player simply feeling betrayed. Maybe in fm7 the threads are more happy because on casual players buy that game. The game have great cars and tracks and some great showcase events but again turn give the player not the freedom they wish. I would love drive the muscle cars on other tracks with how much laps I like. But free play is limited again and I’m sure turn 10 will lose a lot of loyal players because they expect more from fm6. Tuning section has no inovation since part 2. The crew and the upcoming nfs show what is possible. But turn 10 do nothing because they now the will get there money. People are simply frustrated when they come here to the forum.
At the other site they are much more positive post. People who help each other. Or discussed in a positive way. It’s normal that people come here if they had issues with the game. That’s on other forums the same.
Yes, it does feel like the Xbox 360 Forza player is not the same audience as the Xbox One Forza player, and the game has changed to reflect that. Maybe it’s the case? I don’t know.
Indeed there are so many posts that are heartfelt from people who love Forza and have invested time, money and emotion into this franchise. It’s not coming from a place of hatred at all.
But it’s still not enough to get a visit and some dialogue.
I think it’s important to point out that there are two distinct groups aiming negativity at Turn 10. There are the polite long time fans who just want things to return to their former glory. Forza 4 was the pinnacle of the franchise by a long way. Forza 5 dropped the ball massively, and Forza 6 hasn’t come near enough to make things better.
Then there are the 14 year olds threatening to have their lawyer sue Turn 10, swearing all over the forums, and generally acting like entitled little brats.
One of these groups is coming from a position of passion for the franchise, one is coming from a position of entitlement fueled hate.
Me, i like some of the improvements and additions to Forza 6, but still no community rebuilding features. As someone who likes to paint, I need detailed feedback about which paints are selling well, what times of days are best to put them up, whose buying them etc. You used to get all of that with the storefront, now you just get a vague message about how many paints total were sold/used/liked. Then there’s the auction house where you’d find some odd paints and unique designs that weren’t on the storefront. It really did give it that “Gotta catch 'em all” feel that Dan Greenawalt used to go on about. He doesn’t do that anymore. Now it’s all about throwing out metrics to try and entice the casual crowd. But what they don’t realise is appealing to a broad audience with a niche title, ends up with customers not more. You alienate your hardcore base and most of them leave, and the casual market aren’t interested anyway, so you don’t get as many new casuals to replace the old hardcore.
Looking at user figures for tracks some of them manage to scrape up to 700K, you have to knock some off that figure for families sharing consoles, but even so 700K isn’t great for Forza 6’s first month or so. Previous titles would sell 3-4 million easily with half that in the first couple of weeks. That gives you some idea of how many fans they’ve sacrificed in their pursuit of the casual crowd who weren’t interested anyway.
This is why long term fans are upset. It’s all about the way the franchise is being run into the ground as Turn 10 have lost their way and seem to be flailing around adding features at random to attract casuals. Mod cards in a racing game? lol
As for the hate group, well, complaints have ranged from “My favourite car isn’t in game, add it now you %^&$$^)*^”, to “If you don’t fix my internet connection, i’m suing you”. None of those complaints have any idea how things work. But because they think it’s easy, it MUST be EASY! lol
So i wouldn’t pigeon hole all complaints as hate. I love Forza, but i’m finding it harder to justify why. I’m already looking forward to Fallout 4, while I would have been anyway, Forza 6 just isn’t complete enough to keep from looking ahead to the next release. Whereas I used to play Forza for months before even thinking about other games. Forza 6 is a good game, don’t get me wrong. But it’s not the all encompassing “Something for everyone” game it used to be.
