900 degrees has been supported since forza 3 (although forza 3 had the worst/glitchiest implementation) its just not fully animated by driver in the cockpit, forza 5 and horizon 2 are no exception both supporting 900 degrees as well.
Any hints if a new steering wheel will land for this and manual gears , current top Ferrari is nothing but lightweight plastic and the mad catz wheel drives you , not the other way round hahahahaha , instead of substandard or futuristic wheels let’s hope a real feel one appears soon , buzzing for forza 6 though lol
They actually do. I know that and you apparently do not. Multiple devs use a wheel, they are set up in the office as tests, I ran with one and was asked my opinion on a prototype when I was there. The Thrustmaster people were there testing when I visited before FM5.
They cannot do anything about Fanatec continually screwing up and Logitech never reaching an agreement with MS and then abandoning the peripheral department altogether. They can’t do anything about Thrustmaster, which is owned by Madcatz, doing what Madcatz is known for and making unreliable merchandise.
Blaming Turn 10 for whatever you keep trying to do is like me blaming you for not being able to breathe underwater.
BTW, if you are Ant on GTPlanet nice modded wheel.
I´m referring to the FFB and alikes mate, not wheel manufacturers or whatever. Their FFB is poor and I was expecting an improvement in that regard due to the laser-scanned tracks and enthusiasm around the wheels. Having tried the TX with FM5 I was a little bit dissapointed. I do have a high benchmark though (rFactor 2) so it might just be my fault.
Having wheels in their office is no news to me. I have seen them in videos, etc. What I find hard to understand is why they don´t add some detail to the forces and fine tune the FFB if they do actually care about such peripheral. There is so much that could be communicated through their good physics and yet all we get is a force pushing you to the opposite lock.
This is how I tune my rFactor1 ffb, all the other “canned effects” I minimize because they mostly feel, and are fake. This is already a huge step up from previous forzas which were 100% canned effects. Having said this, user-tuneable ffb is fast becoming the standard.
The problem is not the canned effects. It is the core of the FFB that is fundamentally weak. Call it “steering feel” for discussion purposes (stupid name, but it will do).
Having those effects (slip, traction, vibration) doesn´t make an absolute difference in the core “steering feel” whatsoever. These “fake” effects exist so that I can know what is going on with the chassis, suspension, etc, in the simulation. Unless you have a buttkicker (even then…), these clues are completely and only visual. In real life, everything is communicated through my butt whether I want it or not. They exist in most sims and can be turned off. Personally I usually have them on, because I rely too much on slip information during races and it is essential to me, in a sim. In real life, I don´t need them since the car gives it to me through my seat, obviously.
I remember Assetto Corsa having no fake effects because Kunos wanted to make the steering as real as possible. People complained because they couldn´t get any feedback regarding vibration, slip, etc. Options were created and now everyone is happy.
AC´s “steering feel”, for example, is much more detailed and alive (per se…) than the one present in FM5. You feel connected. The weight transfer makes sense, the forces increase as you turn the wheel, the center is direct and fast. Even more amazing is the differences between each car. Reviewers claim that the 12C GT3 has a “dead” front axle. You can actually feel the disconnection between the steering and where the tires are. I can tell you the steering in the Abarth 500 feels very similar, having driven one. Very bland and flat feel, something usually found in those eletric assisted steerings.
The more hydraulic, mechanical cars feel more connected and responsive. Just like you would expect.
rFactor 2 has amazing FFB, you can actually tell where the tires are, every surface is printed on your steering wheel, the weight transfer in racing cars is fantastic and the grip transitions are phenomenal. All of this without fake effects. Just basic weight transfer and geometry of the suspension. Every car has is own unique way of telling you what is going on.
The major problem for me, with FM4 (the one I played most) and FM5, which has similiar code, is the sense of disconnection. There is no texture to the forces. When you do a fast right hander it feels like the wheel is slowly giving up. There is no smooth understeer transition. Even the oversteer transition, specially in racing cars, feels gripless and weak. There is no sense of weight. The center is loose and lifeless.
Low speed grip is horrendous to the point I don´t understand what is going on (altough this is a weak point in almost every sim for some reason).
Every car drives the same. There is no actual differences between a racing and a street car. The feedback feels exactly the same with the exception of you going faster, which is a visual clue.
Try closing your eyes and covering your ears. Drive several different cars in each sim and “feel” them and you will see what I´m talking about.
There is also the visual feedback you get from the TV, but I will leave that for another day
Regarding rFactor 1, I like it but it is not that great due to the inconsistency. Depends on the mod, and there are very few mods I like. Try the FlatSeries 6 (Porsche Cup), I love that one.
WORM, the FFB could be related to the fact that its a console, but the again, F1 games feel is terrible in the PCs aswell. I don´t know that.
Not the biggest fan of the FFB either but you are referencing a PC game in comparison. rFactor wasn’t worth a flip until it was modded. The F1 games stink on a wheel, everything on an xbox console does even if it is multi-platform. Maybe you are pointing a finger in the wrong direction again or maybe not. You don’t really know do you?
Have a look here, that ant guy is in here. Some nice kits in this thread as well. GT Planet Wheel Mods
Get the Fanatec Club Sport V2 wheel base. Fanatec has gone to a modular approach where you will have a wheel base and the wheel will be the compatible component. I have a CSRE which is awesome for FM4 with the Club Sport pedals and Club Sport seq/H shifter. I bought a Thrustmaster 458 wheel for FM5 because I can’t stand controllers and would still be waiting for a wheel from Fanatec. The TM wheel is decent but the pedals are awful. Fortunately Basher Boards released an adapter to use my CS pedals with the TM wheel. It wasn’t a bad rig, but still no H shifter. I got the early invite code for the Fanatec CS V2 so I picked it up gambling that an XBone solution would materialize. It hasn’t yet, so it remained on a shelf for months. I became impatient waiting for updates on the Fanatec Xbone wheels, so I took my PC to a buddy who put a Radeon R9270 graphics card in for $180. I bought Assetto Corsa for $49 and my Fanatec rig is in business. I don’t have enough RAM to support a graphics card that will run full screen resolution, but the cars look incredible. I am missing out on the environmental graphics. Pretty much I have FM4 environment with FM5 car graphics. The physics and ffb with the Fanatec V2 rig put the FM5 physics and ffb with the Thrustmaster wheel to shame. You can feel every bump and crack on the track surface and the curbs in Assetto Corsa. I will be curious to see how the PCars physics and ffb compare to Assetto Corsa. You may not have to build a new PC if your current one can support a decent graphics card like mine did.
I wouldn’t mind dropping even $500 on a good wheel that has a clutch and manual H shifter but it would have to work on all future racing titles for my Xbox One, PC and PS4, and frankly I don’t see that happening.
Dualshockers.com has quoted portions of the Logitech press release, which specifically mentions Forza Motorsport 6, and “The Logitech G920 Driving Force will be featured in the Xbox booth in the South Hall during E3 2015.”
Logitech has announced the Loghitech G920 and the high end Fanatec V2 wheel works on Xbox One. Then there is the Thrustmaster TX and Madcatz wheel (I would take the TX) and a few lower entries from thrustmaster.
