I am clearly not the only one who is severely annoyed at certain aspects of Forza 7, some of which are game breaking. As the title says, what is going on???
Can’t test drive from the tuning/upgrades section.
Upgrade aero parts not showing on some cars.
AI are just as bad as previous games, despite pre-release assurances that AI was better and more intelligent! Braking on the starting grid, braking way too early into corners, braking where you’d never brake, I overtake slower AI for them to ‘rubber-band’ back up to my rear. Unbeatable the usual position 1 and 2 was ahead of the others, Pro far too easy.
Rain - yeah now we have rain… AI kicks up spray but it doesn’t touch the windscreen, just whisps past like smoke. Also, ‘puddles’ or ‘wet bits’ are static, AI drives through them and not a ripple or splash. Raindrops are falling far too slow when driving through the rain.
No in-race restart option, have to quit and start again.
This whole homologate thingy - sounds great for those who want to just grab a car and race. What about the rest of us? I like to upgrade my cars my own way. Example, VW Golf '14, my preferred upgrades takes it outside of Hot Hatch’s set requirements so I can’t use it in Career, so I upgrade to B600 and thought I’d just set up a Free Play race. In F6 you could just pick a track, no restrictions and be thrown on track with AI just below and just above your PI. On F7 I was thrown on with AI up to PI 650, no one at or below 600. So I set restrictions to B class PI above 599, I got a full grid but only Alfa 33, Aston DBS and Shelby Cobra - not really fair or realistic competition. So I restricted it to make and model same car as mine and PI above 599 - no cars on the starting grid except me REALLY??? So I can’t really have a great race with any car outside of the homologate restrictions? The game is unable to give me a couple dozen Golfs upgraded to the same PI as me?
Enormous race load times!
Repeated cars in prize crates.
Graphics (Xbox One) no better than F6, cars in showroom and garage still have jagged edges, white lines at the edge of the track also, it looks terrible on a sweeping bend! There’s no point bragging about wipers dancing at speed if they look like they’ve been copied and pasted from Xbox 360 graphics! Also, when the car is parked in the pits pre-race, the inside edge of the tyres (tires in the US…) look like the outside edge of the tyre, as though light is getting to them. Are they glow in the dark?
Where are the class races? I’m positive I watched a video of someone in the development team who said class race categories such as those in Forza 4 and 5 where you could race any car and not be restricted by categories, were coming back. Well Free Play isn’t useful and I can’t use my B600 Golf anywhere else…
These are just my opinions of areas of the game that should be great by now. I really am hoping the Day One Patch will be for all customers, not just those buying a hard copy of the game, and will fix some if not all of these problems.
EDIT: 6. I have since tried Free Play with another car, restricted by class only and was given a lot of different AI cars. Although they were mostly half-way to three-quarters the PI of the class, so not a fair race, but better than before. Figured out I can restrict by ‘more than’ and ‘less than’ PI to narrow opponents down to +/- 20 PI but that is a pain to do when restricting higher classes.
In cockpit view, hands not holding steering wheel properly. In the Corsa VXR the gloves are actually a quarter way INTO the steering wheel.
Saving tunes - in Free Play, in Test Drive, I save two separate tunes (dry and wet for example), switch between the two and the tune settings stay the same! Come out to main menu into My Tunes and they’re both different.
White spots ‘flashing’ on darker tarmac track surfaces.
Still can’t sell parts we don’t need. Given parts are more expensive now and we are buying random parts to get cars to fit into restrictions, there’s a lot of credits wasted.
Telemetry - friction circles have changed colour so loss of grip is now a dull orange instead of red. I may be the only one, but in previous games I could see the red out the corner of my eye so I didn’t have to take my eye off the track mid-corner, so I knew exactly when I was exceeding peak grip. Now I don’t, because I can barely see the dull orange and have to take my eye off the track meaning I’m not exactly pushing the car to the limits…
Is it just me or do metallic paint jobs on some of these cars look like a semi-gloss or matte paint? Currently thinking of the 15’ Mustang GT with a magnetic gray’ish paint. Rear bumper looks about as matte as I could possibly imagine. Has 0 reflectivity once you are out on the track. Looks great on the home screen, which is another thing I want to bring up. Is there anyway to change your homespace area to something more sunny? If not, then who in the hell thought it would be a good idea for you to change all your paintjobs on your cars in the fucking shade when 75% of the time or more you are going to be driving in the sun. The colors look so different on some of these cars once you actually get in a race.
+1. I meant to include this in my list. In Forza 6 I used to just paint all my cars in the pearlescent green from the ‘special colours’. In F6, when the view panned around the car you could see the pearl effect, you can’t in F7. I just looks like a dull green.
+1 same here. In the racing all the AI cars look like in a matt paint finish. They look terribly unreal without any decant surrounding light reflection… I rather play FM6! What a waste of my money!!
It’s a nothing but a cheesy mess, what a waste of my $. This is coming from a die hard player from FM1, someone with the Fm6 xbox, (Yeah, you screwed us over last release with that xbox) and someone who’s top 100/500 with NON leaderboard.
No worries, I’m not apart of their new market share (10yr olds and teenage kids who think vaping is cool and want to rebel) so I wont hurt sales (specailly since I already purchased) but I’ll be leaving the Forza/Turn10 products on the shelf from here on out.
RIP Forza Motorsport, you had some great games over the years, Notably 2 and 4, but 6 was so close… Damn shame. Ciao
This is my first motorsport I’ve bought (i’m on PC). There’s no incentive to turn off assists. I’ve done a couple races where all I did was hold the accel trigger down and steered the car. How is that more serious?
Yep I agree, I personally don’t get the whole lets rip holes in everything attitude. If you don’t like the way a game is heading cool I get that but its not as if you don’t have choices, there are a few racing titles on the market at the moment some a lot more sim than this so if thats you bag play them .
T10 will never please all the people all the time , this forum just proves that , many like myself love it but they will always be those that don’t.
Threads like this happen every time a new Forza is released Ive read many over the years eventually they just die off .
T10 make a great fun racing game to suit a wide market not the niche market.
And there will always be those that basically say “don’t like it, move on…” yet feel they have to put their two cents worth in when they disagree with an opinion.
Don’t tar all of us “haters” with the same brush. I don’t go so far as to call this game Forza H 3.5 and I don’t “hate” Forza, but I do go so far as to say this is not the Forza Motorsports the ‘majority’ of customers expect from a Forza Motorsports.
I agree that the divisions are a very good move, they’re not a problem. BUT, why can’t we have the class divisions as well, as many players clearly play this game for that specific thing? Yes, we can have class races in Free Play but there’s nothing to complete and no end reward.
also talking to my friend while i’m doing races, the game takes him into game chat rather than our party chat, seemed top be constantly happening.
when i play the game, i want to stay in my party and talk to my friends, not the rest of the lobby.
+1 on the paint in the shade, someone really didnt think that through!
The wobbling parts have been way over done, go drive the VW Beetle Rallycross and look at that gear lever, its unnecessary and one of the reasons the graphics have been turned down no doubt.
The angled UI is a pain to read and I feel as if I’m straining my eyes
The Metallic paints look really poor, almost matte, the whole game looks like FM4 in FM5s lighting engine.
The final issue for me is that its a pain to just drive a stock car and that’s only when the game will let you. Having no choice in career has taken away the enjoyment of certain cars for me, I want to race GTE/3, BTCC and Aussie V8s as they are in real life, not this stupid homologation that is not need for these classes. The V8s are evenly matched so why do I have to run them with more power, tyre size etc than what they have irl.
Why do I have to buy the homologation parts on every car, why is it forced, yes you can chose not to have them fitted but I’d rather not have to waste money on upgrades that wont get used on free play cars.
I’ve spent so much time today removing homologation parts from prize cars and ones bought from the car collection page its not been fun for the way I used to play Forza.
The incentive is that turning off assists lets you go faster and get closer to the real driving experience. If the driver doesn’t have that motivation, then the driver’s the one who isn’t serious, not the game.
