It is a great game, but if you have 5 you basically don’t need 6, and if this trend continues you won’t need 7 either. Now you could say as a car enthusiast you need the latest models, and that’s to an extent why I still bought it. But as an enthusiast, not allowing me to set up races offline is kind of appalling for a game that claims to be for racing enthusiasts. It would be like a soccer game that lumps man u in with barca in the same league. That’s going to always generate a bit of outrage to enthusiasts of any sport.
I’d say most of us who have been with the series a while know how to make the most of what we get and find ways to enjoy the game. The problem really occurs when we are trying to do this and things happen that keep preventing us from doing what we were trying to do.
I’ll give one example: Private lobbies, which are supposed to be a haven from many of the other issues people have with the game. But then a super short idle kick period is rolled into it from the public lobbies update. There are many more examples littered through the forum.
It’s also a way of life that if you don’t like your situation, you seek out those capable of changing the situation and present your case, which is what happens here, albeit fairly unstructured.
I was disappointed in fm5, but I did found ways to enjoy it. They didn’t anything new the wasn’t a gimmick to add to my enjoyment and change thing that I no longer enjoy. At the end the day I’m not enjoying the pure base on the t10 decision.
What’s going on? Simple: Turn10 are going BACKWARDS with their Forza Motorsport series.
Looks like you never played Forza 4. It was the top in terms of features and gameplay.
I remember playing Forza because I thoroughly enjoyed it, not just because it’s there. When the career post-completion relies entirely on replaying the same three track playlists per car class, there’s a whole lot of races you’re ‘just playing’ to move on, rather than because you actually want to be there.
But nah, now I’m just playing something else, and will probably do the same in two years time if Forza 7 turns out to be as linear. I really expected the game to hold my interest for this long, but it simply didn’t.
I have played Forza since its inception back in 2005 and love the franchise. But recently the games just haven’t had the legs to keep me as interested as before.
FM4 was the best package offered by Turn 10. It featured nearly everything the community wanted (other than night and rain). We had the Auction House, the Storefront, the Forza fantasy tracks, a flexible career and User Created Lobbies. All of this gave the game so much longevity, so much so that I was on Forza 4 about a month ago. Four years after it was released. I was barely playing Forza 5 four months after that release.
Turn 10 haven’t gone backwards in all aspects but they have left gaping holes from the features that have been dropped.
User created lobbies have left a huge hole in my opinion. I love competitive racing but the community had so many creative lobbies that were really enjoyable on FM4. For example there was a simulation cops and robbers lobby which was absolutely brilliant! Also the ice hill climb lobby at Fujimi Kaido and the multitude of car show/cruise/drift lobbies all made that experience the very best for me.
Forza 6 is good but it hasn’t recreated the magic of Forza 4. I hope that Turn 10 change the production cycle on the series from every two years release to every 3+ years so they have more time to make the game and give it the longevity it deserves.
If you’ve played forza since at last FM4, it’s easy to understand fully what people are describing.
If you started with 6, then you are truly uninformed until you actually experience a well thought out game.
For me I’ve played enough to where outsmarting crashers and poo drivers isn’t fun. At one time it was, but after being exposed to lobbies where most are racing clean and insane battles for 8th were commonplace, I became disheartened after struggling to consistently find such races.
The basics things that keep me satisfied are a multiplayer where finding clean lobbies is easy and online leaderboards so that I may compete for bragging rights on forzastats.com.
This game provides neither. I’m a car guy, but could care less about car games. I just want to race in clean lobbies and have an outlet to be competitive at the highest level. This game fails in both regards.
@ xDeaDx. I agree with most of what you and others have said on improvement mate and most of those things are in my own wishlist too. My point was that other than reporting it, it just seems wasted energy to keep on complaining over and over about the same thing on multiple threads. Yes we need to voice our concerns and yes make sure T10 knows about them, but if I look at the history on the forums (since FM3), continious complaints, attacking and even threatning the developer with mass action delivered absolutely no results. After threads begging and griping and even threatning over months, we still dont have an Auction House, neither do we have a Storefront. Same applies for when Horizon2 for the 360 came out, yet all those complaints, demands, threats, bans from mods on a thread longer than our wishlists together shows zero end result today as far as complaints are concerned. If I remember correctly there were about 40 pages or more on the Horizon 2 on 360 issue and people got tired after some time. Yet nothing or very little changed, so what did they actually achieve ?
BUT then people reported the issue with night driving in the current F1 league racing and in no time T10 corrected it and even gave feedback on it. That certainly should tell us something, perhaps that we as community should seek different ways to get a result, current ways are fruitless. So why waste soooooo much energy on something with almost a certain failure instead of finding viable ways to deal with it. Once again, I certainly dont say we should just accept the status quo or the numerous existing issues. All I’m saying is that we should start looking for different ways to deal with them.
For these reasons I just enjoy the game and will very seldom gripe about anything. BUT I still have a big wishlist for improvements for the game.
Just my own opinion without disrespect to the opinion of others.
Some people just like to complain, it’s human nature. You can tell those people here because their name pops up in every thread they can with nothing but negativity, never anything positive to say or constructive to add.
A good majority however, are those who truly love the franchise and expect a certain level of performance from the game. Many of us have spent years and considerable money playing this game now. The expectation is that each new edition should be better than the last. Obviously some feel that the current edition has not fulfilled that expectation. It’s funny that FM4 is suddenly so fondly remembered as the “cream of the crop”. I seem to recall just as many threads complaining and moaning about everything that was wrong with it when it released.
It is getting tiresome however to read the same complaints about the AH and SF. It was clearly stated that they were being removed back in FM5, and not returning. You knew they wouldn’t be here, so why did you buy the game if that’s what you wanted? The developers really don’t owe anyone here an explanation when you come right down to it. The decision was theirs to make and they made it.
To be quite honest, Forza as a stand alone single player game has never been all that great. The AI have always been idiots and ridiculously easy to beat, the career modes boring and redundant. My addiction to the game has been solely organized league racing. If not for that, I probably would have stopped playing years ago. This time though, I have to say I’m really enjoying the career. I think they did a good job with it when compared to previous versions. This of course is all my personal opinion. If you don’t like the game, your entitled to yours. No offense to anyone intended.
Is FM6 perfect? No. Are there things I’d like to see different? Yes. But at the end of the day it is what it is.
I totally agree with the OP. I never complained what each Forza game is or isn’t. I never had anything against missing features (auction house, storefront etc.), never had anything against the car list, the track list, the sound of cars, the soundtrack, the multiplayer, the upgrades, the physics, the glitches and I can go on and on. I ALWAYS enjoyed each and every game for what it is because I can imagine what it’s to make a game. It’s not as easy as copy and paste from the previous installment.
I do however understand the people, who have complains and I respect that. There isn’t a flawless game and never will be, be it Forza or not. Developers can’t satisfy everyone and they don’t have to, no matter what they do some people will enjoy the final product, others will not. That’s the internet and different people have different opinions. Everyone should do themselves a favor and stop complaining all the time as it won’t change anything. Either enjoy what you have or play something else.
As for the multiplayer, you guys should accept it as a challenge. Show that troll who’s boss, beat the cutters, avoid the rammers. As long as you find a creative way to enjoy multiplayer, you will all be winners.
I completely agree with your view and also enjoy the game with my friends we’ve started private races and looking for other like minded drivers that want to experience the game and be competitive but a good sport at the same time. Currently looking to recruit players to do more races with simulation damage on with all tracks in mind from 5 laps of Prague to 30 laps of road America. We all enjoy leagues and are at various skill levels and experience but we all have one thing in common that we enjoy forza 6
Well, maybe taking this a little personally because I am pretty active on the forums and do post on wishlists and give an opinion where I have one and feel its a valid point. I would like to think that most of my comments aren’t compaints. Most of what I post is on the wishlists as far as cars I would love to see or features I think would be cool. When I see a thread such as this one, where the question of why can’t we just play the game or why all the hate, I have opinions on these things. I will share them. Pretty sure that is the point of a “forum”. A group of people discussing something they have opinions on.
I love to make paint jobs and do my best to build and tune as many cars as i can. As I have always said, I do love forza. As someone that, just like all the rest of us, has spent alot of money on these games our thoughts and opinions should count for something though. If this isn’t where I need to express my thoughts, then please, where do I go to say this? What other avenue should I take. I dont want to see probably my favorite game series die or end up like Call of Doodie, some arcade like fraction of what it once was.
As far as just moving on or just playing the game, I do. Whenever I can, I play. I will keep playing, probably buy forza 7. Horizon 3 if that comes out. I acknowledge that there will always be someone unhappy about something. No, you can’t please everyone. But in my opinion, just accepting every game for what it is, saying its the best the developers can do and there is no reason to complain or voice an opinion, to me is the reason things start to deteriorate. Without feedback or people bringing up things they miss or wish were back in the game, there would be less and less effort put into the game.
I’m not delusional, I don’t expect that what I want or wish for is going to be in the game. I dont think that my lone voice will change anything. But so far, I havent been alone in my thoughts. Anyway, I’m sure I am “complaining” too much, I’ll go sit in the corner and keep my mouth shut.
Actually, i cant play the game anymore, literally, they took away cat and mouse which was my favorite game in forza my (former) favorite game, and also fat kids and cake which was a popular custom public lobby that gathered nightly on forza 4. There are more players than i could count(who are playing other games and would come back to forza) if cat and mouse was brought back to forza, and all those crashers you talk about might have somewhere to go, but due to turn 10s poor foresight, all those crashers are still there with nowhere else to go. Turn 10 could have literally reproduced forza 3 or 4 with new tracks and new cars and everyone would be much happier and more people would play the game. Why do people always have to mess up something that works, if it isnt broke, dont fix it!!!
Jace, various aspects of those games were broken, they may not have affected the way you played the game - so weren’t a problem to you.
This is the issue that individual players don’t see when they compare previous games to new ones.
Storefronts & auctions houses were prone to hacking abuse, credit glitchers, spammers, re-sellers (depending on how far back we are going here) & hate rating, they also encouraged mass messaging of people who were painting - starting with ‘can I haz unlocked’, usually after finding out the answer was no, to well no problem I will take it anyway ‘Coz I knows someone who canz unlocks it for me’.
I think I’ve had one message asking for an unlocked livery since I started playing fm6 - I had to ask which game they were playing - then point out there is no gifting in fm6 - short and sweet conversation.
The ability to play cat & mouse is still there in private lobbies - that’s how we played all those silly sort of games on FM2 - when I say silly I’m not disrespecting you or the way you play - just that they were fun and silly when I played them back in the day. If you know so many players who would be playing get it organised, have fun. Last man standing was one of my favourite things to do on fm2 as it totally opened my eyes to online play and how you could just play your own way. You still can if you know enough people, go for it.
T10 no doubt have endless stats on server useage and can see what has been popular in the hoppers before as well as the most populous private lobbies, so they probably have steered the hoppers in that direction. People with niche interests can still play the game how they seem fit, just in a privately hosted lobby.
As has been stated many times, the AH & storefronts aren’t returning, sure the current system could do with some improvements in the search department but overall this is a great game - according to my stats (which doesn’t include painting time) I’ve driven just shy of 10,000 miles and been driving 111 hours - now if I factored in painting time to that well I’d say even this early on in the game - I’ve got my moneys worth when compared to other entertainment products.
I could buy 10 new films on DVD and scratch 30 hours if I was into epics. Or 5/6 hardback books which could be close to the 100 hours if they’re big books but that’s not including painting time which I would guess at being something similar.
At the end of the day it’s a game, one I will certainly get my money’s worth of and more before I’m done - if I haven’t already.
I agree with the some of the other posters in the thread in terms of the negative posts and their repetitive nature, they aren’t achieving anything - say your piece and move on. There’s no need to say it every single time someone opens a thread with a hint of negativity. It’s been said - move on.
But since the beginning of forums and any forum site it has ALWAYS been the place where 90% of posts were gripes and complaints.Thats the forum nature.Thats why they come to it.Most people who play this game are not even part of this forum and could care less.To each their own.I read the complaints on this forum which are usually the same 4-5 things laugh and move on.Its entertainment for me to read the posts. But complaining will never ever go away on this forum or any forum.Nature of the beast.
I use/contribute for a combination of sharing info. and making and listening to others suggestions about how to make the game better. I realise sometimes there is some negativity but on the whole i think the fact we come here means we are active in playing the game regularly and from the developers point of view we are repeat customers likely to buy the next add-on/installment.
From my own point of view if I feel we are being listened to and not taken for granted as customers who on the whole love Forza Motorsport I’m happy with that.
The auction house, storefront, saving lobby settings, custom public lobbies, and several other features were very popular in the Xbox 360 Forza games, but were excluded in the Xbox One games. No one really knows why. Also, many of the fictional tracks from the 360 games have been excluded (I think Bernese Alps from Forza 4 is the only surviving one) and those were also pretty popular. Don’t see as many people complaining about it though.
However, I would still say Forza 6 is still a great game, and a pretty big step in the right direction.
Im geuss T10 figuring there target audiance would still buy these game without these features. So they cut anything they anything they couldnt just cut and paste or jam as many people as possible into the lease amount servers.
