Surprisingly I’ve qualified 3rd, finished 2nd, and lost 2 points. I think there’s more (or less) to it than that.
If you are the highest rated player in the lobby, the game will probably see this as you failing to match your skill rating (by losing to someone lower ranked) and so you lose points. Would be more obvious, of course, if you could see the other ratings.
Still an improvement on FH4 ranked mode where you could win the race and still lose points if your opposition was low ranked!
That’d be interesting. To see if the display of the Safety Rating would alter behaviour.
Highest was 4976 a few days ago.
Would be nice If you could see other peoples ratings before the race.
They tried that in Horizon 4 and it basically put a target on your back for people to drive dirty against you. They didn’t care about winning, just making sure you lost. In some rare instances, 2 or 3 friends would join rooms together to block for each other.
If I have a high skill rating and I run non-meta cars, and I finish behind players with lower skill ratings who are running meta cars, I wonder if their skill ratings go up for finishing ahead of me while my skill rating gets knocked down for finishing behind lower-rated opponents just because their meta cars are such a huge advantage.
If so, that would take away the incentive to drive anything other than meta cars online if players want to increase or preserve their skill rating - thus making the majority of the car roster useless for online racing.
That would be a very advanced system, particularly bearing in mind that both cars probably have the same PI rating. I somehow doubt that’s something that T10 implemented.
A Week and two days in MP, dropped a ton cause of being rammed to oblivion last weekend and only picked it up again today
Was S - 4999 but then the imbeciles who can’t drive entered the equation and knocked me down to A - 4996. So hard getting back up when they’re about.
Same here. The current system fails to recognize (or at least it seems) the type of cars, tracks and the circumstances. It’s almost as if the 1st lap should only serve warnings. But at the end of the day it’s about the players. I bet if the game wasn’t on Game Pass you’d have less incidents.
Hey, that’s my driver level and safety rating! Used to be 4965/S before venturing into endurance online.
People at the back of the pack have little clue when to brake.
Edit: side note, it doesn’t seem like they average these values over 20 races otherwise one race wouldn’t slam your safety rating into the ground.
Yeah you really need to get in a decent qualifying time and be at the front for the endurance races.
If you don’t set a clean one you will still most probably be up the front just for setting a time
Now there’s not enough time to get in 3 laps I just jump into the vehicle I know is my quickest and go straight into qualifying, get a lap placed down and hope the there’s no kamikaze gamepass warrior out to wreck the race, most endurance races have players at the front that actually want to race and will take care at the start knowing it’s a long haul and pit strategy race.
Lovin The Green Hell in MP now we just need it permanently on a rotation of A,S and R, 3 laps with tyre wear multiplier of 3 or 4 not this 6x at the moment
That would be a nightmare - the first corner would be a bloodbath since the Kvyats and Strolls know they can get away with just a warning and make up bulk places by just barging their way through.
The bare minimum would be ghosting through the first two corners (say 20-30 seconds) or ideally implementing Horizon’s collision prediction system. The torpedoes rely on hitting other cars to slow them down, so take that away and they have a deep and meaningful with the Turn 1 wall.
Yeah I think you’re right, it’s always a compromise… Which brings me back to the mindset thing. Forget about how realitistic or arcade FM is, if everybody played respectfully it’d be a lot more enjoyable online. (and you can be respectfully agressive)
Proper guidelines have to be set then enforced, it’s all common sense really.
Bumping this post in celebration, after 8 months and 2 months of learning to tune, of me braking into the 4900s!
BEAR WITNESS!
P.s i feel like they buffed offtrack penalties, they’re killing me since patch 10.
Had a rough couple of weeks in the Enduros as far as penalties were concerned (almost all not-at-fault) which dropped my safety rating down but I’ve managed to clamber back up to S, skill took a boost though up to 4995 at its highest (thanks 935 and 917 at Le Mans) and now sits around 4993
Maybe ill be there after another 1000 driver levels ![]()
Last time I checked, S - 42XX. Nothing to brag about. Slow to death, but I try to keep it clean.
