Warning: Design unlock is occurring

Some users seem to be unlocking the design / vinyl group.

  • Multiple users are unlocking.
  • Unlock from Forza Motorsport 7. (It is not an import from Forza Motorsport 5)

I’m a user who is using the design shared by painter. Forza without their existence is unthinkable. However, as this problem became apparent, the painters I followed up stopped sharing the design. it’s awful.
T10 should take countermeasures to this problem as soon as possible.
And the painters reading this thread should be aware of their existence.

I’m praying that unlocking will not be done and the painter will again share the design again.

Not good news. I noticed a copy of my 1969 FairLady Z sold on the AH yesterday (got a screenshot, but can’t post it as I don’t know how to get it “shared” so I can download it… I don’t have a windoiws10 box) but it has alot of near-identical if not the exact same graphics on the car that I was questioning how was done… looked too close a copy - right down to the “the GAS goes here buddy —>” sign next to the gas cap! It was just too close a copy to be a coincidence that even the fonts were rendered accurately. I realize little to nothing can be done on this so I’m not going to get all butt hurt about it. Regardless, it is what it is - not a good thing.

sorry - wasn’t signed in. The post above is mine.

edit: just reviewed the screenshot… no question in my mind. The vinyls used were mine - so yeah, designs ARE being unlocked. Thanks Turn10!

Post it there, with screenshots. To grab screenshots take them with your console, then head to http://xboxclips.com/ and look up your Gamertag. Give it a few minutes for the pics to appear.

Blur/remove the offending user’s name when posting pics on this forum, but include them when emailing forzafb@microsoft.com

I’ll have to do this later PJ… I have to get to work and won’t be back to attend to this for about 10 hours. But will do - can’t just turn a blind eye to this, and thanks for the links/info buddy

Keep us posted on how you get on Bob.

One quick question - but I guess it has to be asked for clarity. The chap selling your paint, was his GT showing as the painter of the car. Just before we all get a bit worked up - he’s not just selling your paint - which he can in this game.

see below

This is radar bob
I just realized that my Veloster was on sale at the AH. If it is can someone PLEASE grab a screenshot. I’m at work and no way to follow up on this. Didn’t put 2 and 2 together until on the drive to work. Looks like I’ve been targeted

Oh - I see… disregard guys. I guess there was a model difference and the graphics became shifted during the transfer. There were just selling my paint… it just didn’t appear that way because all the vinyls were relocated on the model. Figured it out though. Now it all makes sense - but I still feel like such an idiot

sorry for the ruckus

Maybe I was right originally… but I need some help here.

Thinking that the design was shifted during my transfer from F6 to F7, I immediately went to the file to un-share, fix, then share it again. So I bought the car, downloaded the file and got this (what appears to be a perfect transfer - all graphics 100% right)

Now here is the screen capture of the sold car.

With all the graphics shifted it seemed to be that they were lifted and then transplanted onto a new car. And no, I didn’t see or grab the shot to show who the painter listed was… at the time I got the screenshot I was thinking it was kinda flattering someone would duplicate my car or sell it. After reading the OP post, I became suspicious.

Should I be concerned about this guys?

To me, it looks like the car in the bottom image has a different body kit to the one in the top image. Different body kits will certainly distort the paint/design.
I think what’s happened is the seller has downloaded your paint of the SF applied it to the car they are going to sell (this is allowed) and added the body kit shown in the bottom image. As the seller is not the original painter he can’t adjust the design to suit the body kit he’s applied, so has to list it with the distorted logos.

Good eyes there Stu - reckon you could be on to something.

I was at work earlier Bob myself, just in. So thought it best to raise the possibility just in case you weren’t aware that people can sell cars with other people’s designs on. Not a fan of the idea myself but like everything else, just something we need to understand and deal with.

I guess if we all remain vigilant until such time as we can confirm or deny any unlocking has occurred but not go in to panic mode just yet is probably the best approach.

You hit the nail on the head, just like DamMe2006 said.

I tried the RB body kit and you were spot on. Good eye my friend

I was unaware of the policy on that… you are right though - something we all have to learn to deal with. I was concerned, glad to see it’s a non-issue so far. You’re right bud - we need to keep a look out so if it is happening we catch it quick, but not rush to judgement.

thanks for the help guys!

I hope that designs and vinyls are not somehow being unlocked and re-used as if they were an original creation in FM7.

I am 100% certain beyond any doubt that I had a design of mine stolen and shared by someone else as an original work of theirs in FH3. I posted a very long and detailed post here in the forums with a lengthy explanation and multiple comparison screenshots of my original paint and the stolen paint as evidence. Within less than a day, my thread was closed by a mod and I was told to report it to Forza support. I submitted my same exact lengthy post to the Forza support email. I was not asking for any kind of compensation … just making sure they were aware of it so they could fix the problem.

I never got a single response from anyone official either in my forum thread or my email to Forza support.

Needless to say … I have little confidence that if something like this does occur that anything will be done about it.

Yes, there was a definite issue in FH3, but it appeared to be rare, possibly due to transfer from DLC to DLC, but not easily reproduced. I coincidentally started following a well known painter/YouTuber just a couple of days after he had been able to take one of my designs, modify it (repositioning and resizing elements), and save out vinyls from that design, so was a little surprised to see my design (with mods) in his storefront. I asked him what was occurring, and he had reported the issue to Turn10/Playground, sharing the design and some vinyls for them to download to investigate. He’d been away, but removed the designs ASAP. I don’t know if he had got anything back from Turn10/Playground, I know I had asked Forza support a couple of times (3 and 2 months ago), but got no response after the initial “Playground is currently investigating and its still an open bug. I know they are looking into it because its been active every day. I can only say that they are looking into it and I can let you guys know when I have an answer.” I don’t know if it ever got resolved, but was also disappointed not to get a final response.

In addition to your thread (this one?) https://forums.forza.net/turn10_postst96590_Possible-Hack-of-PC-Forza-Games-Used-to-Unlock-Designs-and-Exploit-Auction-House.aspx
there was also this one: https://forums.forza.net/turn10_postst101067_How-did-somebody-unlock-my-vinyl-and-put-it-in-their-storefront.aspx
which occurred about the same time as my issue.

I sold a NASCAR car yesterday, with the painting of the game (not one of a painter) after the sale, I have in my livery file, the livery in my designs and it is possible for me to share it.
If it does that with the liveries of the game, it must be the same with ours.

Any of the regular painters online now who cares to test this theory?

I can try boot my box up now . Gimme a minute

Nice one.

I’ll share a livery on the AMC Pacer X

I’ll also put a car in the AH with cheap buyout

If you pick up both - re-sell the AH car and apply the livery to a car and sell that on AH. I’ll buy both back.

But then see if you can share or edit the design in your catalogue.

Edit - by the way my gut feeling on this is, it won’t work. I suspect the stock Nascar livery is just like having a blue production car. It saves a copy to your design catalogue when you pick up the car. As long as you can’t edit it - it’s all good.
