The graphics can look pretty nice. Unfortunately on Xbox series X at least its a pretty mixed bag no matter what graphics option you choose.
Brightness exposure is too high. FM7 had this issue also and it never got fixed. Things just look washed out. Iām not talking about the bug either. Itās an engine thing similar to Cyberpunk 2077.
There is some sort of volumetric lighting that makes everything look Dusty and out of focus. Not a good art style choice IMO.
There is ghosting from the Screen space ambient occlusion. This can be seen looking at your hands while steering in cockpit view. Not a great implementation.
Anti-Aliasing is pretty bad and things look blurry when viewed at an angle or far away.
LOD on opponent cars is genuinely awful and looks like an Xbox 360 game. It very bad.
Texture quality is pretty bad as well. Way worse than FM7 and even worse than FM6. Look at the Sunoco sign on Road America and how blurry it is, also the mountains in the Hakone background mid day. The road textures are awful ccompared to FM7. This is the biggest step back in visuals IMO.
The games visuals can look very good in some instances such as night races or while raining but whoever decided on the optimization for Xbox SX should be fired. Some things or shots look great, others look like an upscale 360 game.
Edit: another example of bad LOD and texture quality is the new Ohio circuit. Look at the billboards when you are racing around the track. the texture quality is so low it looks worse than something on Xbox 360. It will eventually turn into a HQ asset but itās super distracting.
Yea OP, send over your copy because these visuals leave a lot to be desired running on Ultra everything on PC, especially at night where at times it looks like an iPhone game.
Hard disagree. Visuals are fine. Performance-wise, itās been mostly fine for me, VERY surprisingly given all of the problems I see people having. I have a 3080 and get 55-80FPS playing on PC at 1440p with DLSS set to Quality. However I have track, car, and livery textures pinned to Ultra, so those are not tied to DLSS(this helped with stuttering a lot). Visual-wise, it leaves a lot to be desired.
I hate that Iāve been doing this frequently, but given itās a direct competitor and I have a ton of experience with it, I canāt help but compare this game to Gran Turismo 7. The textures of the cars, tracks, etc. in GT7 and how theyāre all tied together with the lighting, it just looks so much more realistic. After almost every race in GT7, even after 2 years of playing, I watch most of my replays because of how good it looks, it is satisfying to watch and admire. I donāt do that in Forza. Forza in comparison feels flat, both in regards to textures, but also lighting. Their replay system is also half-baked.
Tangentially related, but I didnāt notice it until watching this video of a side-by-side GT7/Forza sound comparison(thatās a separate discussion lol), but even the driverās perspective in Forza somehow makes things look worse/flatter(and also slowerā¦). In GT7 your eyes look straight ahead and are level with the horizon, the sense of speed and its build-up are more apparent and realistic. In Forza, youāre head is higher up in the cabin and slightly angled to be looking down, making it feel like youāre driving a minivan, and the sense of speed is more muted.
Man, Iām bummed out, I keep playing hoping something is going to click and Iāll start really enjoying it. The driving itself, the most important part, can be really satisfying, but itās just dragged down by everything else.
You are obviously all just stirring us. On my high end PC the game looks terrible. FM7 and FH5 look stacks better. This game looks more like a crappy mobile phone game, then even a poor console conversion.
Yes! Itās same as the image. Gauges look blurry as hell. Iām on series x. I wonder how theyāve managed to make visuals fall behind fh5. Disappointinngā¦
Iāve recently turned off the performance RT mode on series x. It caused too many weird ghosting and artifacting effects inside the vehicle. The screen in the 370z looked like it was melted. Chrome in the Lambo Muira looked like it had 5 pixels for a reflection and there were other weird ghosting things happening inside and outside the cars.
I tried adding a spoiler to the 370z. When I removed it I swear it took at least 5 seconds for the reflection to disappear on the back glass.
Between stuff like this, the clunky menus and bad LOD (look left in cockpit view at eagle rock speedway as the race countdown starts, the division oil Billboard is in low detail mode and looks like $h!t)
But yeah try RT performance off. RT looks bad in its current state on SX
The game looks worse than Forza Motorsport 7. The models of most vehicles in the game are the worst. One example is the Nissan Silvia Spec-R model, which was taken straight from Forza Motorsport 3!
This is an embarrassment! Additionally, there is no support for DLSS 3 and frame generator in the game. The game works badly and looks bad even in comparison to the older version of FM7 from 6 years ago! This looks like a beta version and not a full-fledged product.
Fix this game because there is no point in buying it at the moment.
Have people seen the latest IGN comparison. Itās bizarre just how rough FM looks compared to the other popular racing game I probably canāt mention.
FM looks so blurry, dull & low-res whilst the other looks the opposite. One actually looks current-gen. I do prefer FMās extra trackside detail but thatās about it. FM clearly hasnāt been helped of course by the serious downgrades from the reveal gameplay.
Love the new car pass car. Looks great, definitely 6 years in the making. I know thos are fake headlights similar to Nascar, but they are still super low res. The fake lights from the Forza 6 Nascar DLC looked better Imgur: The magic of the Internet
Sorry, but I have four different racing sim games from four different developers on the same PC, same GPU, same monitor, same everything. The graphics on Forza Motorsport are variable. Some of the weather simulation is pretty good. Some of the cars are very nicely detailed. However, mostly itās dull with lackluster colors, poor contrast, and just overall looks worse than the other three games. And yes, I have the correct drivers and settings. The overall visual impression is not great.
You are right brother.Iām getting vsync 60fps with my 3090 and ray tracing and all settings at Ultra and wow! It blows fm7 away.I still play fm7 because I like the rivals and do the odd race, but this games visuals were worth the wait!!! I am however disappointed with the lack of tracksā¦turn10 you cheap buggers,GIVE US SOME MORE TRACKS!!!
Some of the replay graphics are awful in the backgeound for e.g Lime rock park replay, looking down the main straight, those trees in the background behind the last cornerā¦oh dear Iāve seen better graphics on the ZX Spectrum. Looks like a green melting blurry flickering mess.
This is on Series X in Performance RT or Performance.
I thought this weird lighting bug was because of the RT system. It does it with it on or off. So its some base graphics engine system that just projects a color that a bright light is hitting not onto the surrounding area like they showed in trailers, But apparently just all over the screen.
