Why is there such a small selection of these vinyls? I like painting cars and I don’t want to spend hours creating a manufactures vinyl that I thing should already be a selection. Would be nice if it was possible to import images created in Photoshop and use. There is only a very few people who work with that editor and create impressive designs…the rest of us need some already made stuff. Anyway, will the manufactures decal expand or what we have not is it?

There are thousands of user created logos you can use if you search for them, personally I like the fact you have to make your own, the livery editor should take skill to use or it wouldn’t be fun.
There is a massive selection of many company logos available to download for free on page one of the vinyl editor. At the bottom of said page is an option for searching. You probably already know this though. As for the menial amount the game has as standard I would hazard a guess that copyright laws have something to do with it.
There is a small collection of logos on the first page that I can see. I’d guess at about 20, without switching on the xbox to check. Are there more than this for you?
Also, I think that logos in a game like this count as fair use, not to mention free advertising, as long as they are not used “negatively”. You also aren’t trying to make money from it at the expense of the company/ides who’s logo/s you are using.
Finally, I think that having to make the logos actually makes the marketplace worthwhile, instead of having them all come with the game
As a fluent forza designer ill like to say like said many times above you can download 1000,s of logos for free’ you name it its done, just go to shapes on add vinyl shape section’ & press left all the way you will see you can search & buy logos created by us 1000s of designers “not” just a few…
Designing is a huge part of Forza & to be able to use photoshop etc would just ruin the game & the uniqueness of designs…

The vinyl editor works just fine as it is , just like it did on FM4 , in my opinion it rewards those that have spent the time creating there own , and encourages others to practice and perfect making decals of what they want.
I wish it was possible to use “community” logos while designing a car layout and then still be able to share the overall car design. Using 1 locked community design will lock the overall car design. I am a casual player, painter, tuner. I like to share my designs only to see if/how many people like what I have done. I understand why the Livery editor is set up the way it is. There are extremely talented individuals who have put hours and hours into designs and although I would get zero satisfaction from abusing a shared system, I’m sure there are plenty who wouldn’t mind a bit capitalizing on it.
It appears to me that any vinyl group you download from the community is locked ( please correct me if I am wrong ). But it would be nice if the original designer could share “unlocked” files. Or even possibly keep the file locked to prevent alteration but allow for community use. Leave it up to the designer. I have done some work with EMS logos, Flush Mount LED emergency lights etc. from being involved with emergency service. I would love it if others designing their “local” or " favorite" emergency police/fire car used my LED’s in their design and could share it with community. Otherwise, the chances of people seeing my work are slim to none; and it would save some of the casual painters time in doing work that has already been done.
Again, I know why it is the way it is, it’s just kind a shame a designer can’t choose to share a design with the community.

For sure, why should i and any other painter spend many hours in paint only for someone to slap a load of my work on a car and then share it as their own?
As much as I thought I was going to hate recreating all of my previous designs and logos, I found out this weekend that it really doesn’t matter to me. I had loads of fun making new vinyls I could use on all of my cars and bringing them all together to make a nice design. It all really comes down to whether or not you enjoyed painting on FM4. If you did, it may seem tedious at first, but you will certainly get back into it.
I would easy pay 200,000 for un locked logos esp.complex ones, i’m an abstract artist by job and need to spend more time with colour and shape choices.I suppose a collaberation would be good with someone who enjoys making and spacing logos but the lock is a problem.I feel that because designs and vinyls are always locked more manufacture decals are necessary esp. the ones allready on the tracks.
That’s the problem, if I use someone else vinyl I can’t share.
I’d be willing to pay (real money) for vinyls available for download. But, I guess too many issues with copyrights. You would think companies would be willing to give designs for free to Forza…it’s not like we are making any money off them.
Probably just have to bite the bullet and just do them myself. I did one in Forza 4 that took me 7 hours and got a bunch of downloads, helped that I charged 0 CR’s. It was tedious, but fun.
Kinda like us painters asking for a drift button to make it easier cuz drifting makes cool videos.
Why not make friends with a painter and see what comes up?
You can also use the vinyls on the far left of the paint menu that a lot of the painters share, you just won’t be able to share when you’re done, but there’s some decent stuff over there.
Is it ok to use other peoples created logos in competitions?I’m asking because of the falken tires subaru brz competition in 4 days which has quite a tight brief regarding sponsors.
Yea i have a major issue with this now, i made a relatively cool design with my own logo and paint + decals (250+) layers on a Mercedes SLR.
Now my design is locked and i can’t share it, so bummed, i took off all of the decals that were not mine and it still seems to be stuck locked.
Anyway, i agree the custom shared a manufacturer decals should not be locked, would be awesome if the shared designs were available in the main select section too, there are some dumb ones there like MS and Bomberman or whatever… but imagine if you could D/L some MNF ones for your custom design and save some time that would rock.
