Yeah, glass2k is handy for that “tracing” type effect. I’ll post a screenshot of me in process here in a bit. I was using the built in Windows “photos”, but that was a nightmare because the control inputs for Forza were also affecting the photos so it would switch off the pic, zoom in, and all sorts of other things. This time I have it up in image editing program (Gimp) that doesn’t seem to recognize the controller inputs, which means it stays nice and static while I’m working.
I actually do the opposite, and have my image on top and Forza beneath, but I think it’s six of one and half a dozen of the other there… whatever works.
Glass2k and the forza color picker were two game changers.
I’ve been creating vinyls since FM2 or 3. What works best for me is not tracing (I never tried it since I only play Forza games on a console), but a grid/box method. I started out by finding logos online, and then I would add a bunch of vertical and horizontal lines on that image in Photoshop until I had x and y coordinates for all major parts.
Then I’d measure the sizes of the boxes that the resulting grid would give me, and thus I could start create vinyl groups by adding boxes in the vinyl editor. Once I had that, it was just a matter of using the proper vinyl shapes in the editor to create the shapes that each box contained.
Time consuming, but I was unemployed for a long time because of a herniated disc in my lower back, and I had all the time in the world to design vinyls. In FM4, I even paid for 3 different Gold subscriptions/Gamertags at the same time just to be able to share all the vinyls and liveries I had made (because each storefront would only let you share so many file types…).
Maybe is no ethical way, but I look for a vinyl in game, download and use to reference and like and create my vinnlys. Some a used this way. Its looks like of Glass2k, and i cau use on both console and PC.
I use Sketch Designer for that stuff pretty much the same as Glass. There is also a formula to calculate the forza color. I’ll look into that if anyone is interested (it was posted in a forza design facebook group).
I also updated my values last week on the spreadsheet. Don’t have Forza open now so I don’t know the new numbers but got few over the last few days and will update again as soon as I can (slow pc and takes time to open and sucks up resources and it’s my work pc so only run it when I have time to design). Added two Ken Block vinyls last week and may do more tomorrow. And thanks for all the Likes!
Sweedishthunder, you should see a big jump in vinyl likes! I’ve added slowjournalist to the followed list and had a run through of new vinyls and updated the sheet.
Haha… just tried my first attempt at a B Dirt tune for the Hoonigan Bel Air. So sorry everyone who may have tried to win with it. I have a better one now. Learning is fun.
Hey all! Thanks to whoever gave me a huge vinyl boost. I will finally have some free time this weekend to add a bunch more vinyls and liveries and give some vinyl likes to the few people at the bottom of the assist sheet that I didn’t get to last time.
@LowlyCartPusher - I’ve been idle for a while, only playing enough to win the season’s cars each week (other things going on).
So I made a start again last night and saw 53 vinyls I didn’t recognise on your list, so threw them on a van.
I wanted to make a start on some newer folk but you’re still struggling with pushing that cart of yours.
Just thought I’d throw a quick tutorial for everyone so they can maximize the ‘like’ count for any tunes they’re trying to help with. The reason I do this is mostly because on a daily basis, I see larger ‘download’ counts than ‘like’ counts for my tunes. On the off chance that some don’t know this quick way to apply a ‘like’ to their tune downloads, here’s a quick tutorial. Before doing this tutorial, be sure to follow everyone listed in the shared Excel sheet.
For this tutorial, I’m using the Lamborghini Sian.
Once in the car, while in the Horizon Outpost, go to the ‘FIND TUNING SETUPS’ area.
The first suggested tunes are all the ones available from your ‘followed players’ list. As you can see, I have downloads available from Qi Rae Mau and fuchs171.
This step is important. Click on each players tune and click “DOWNLOAD AND SAVE”.
You’ll see this for each.
After downloading the available tunes for each player (there may be a lot; please get them all), click on “MY TUNING SETUPS”
Here, you should see all of the tunes you downloaded. For each one, click on the car, then click “LIKE”. If you want to install the tune, click on it again and click the “LOAD TUNING SETUP”. Just be sure to click on each and hit the “LIKE” button as these are the hardest accolades to get for everyone.
NOTE
As some are aware, you’ve probably been the recipient of “LIKE BOMBS” from me. @fuchs171, @SweedishThunder, @CashlessPlains8, to name a few can probably confirm this if anyone thinks I’m making this up. LOL. This is a completely different process and obviously, takes a little longer but if anyone feels so inclined to help a specific person, I can post a separate tutorial for that if anyone wants.
Welcome LLLKorioLanLLL (if that is your user name here on the forums) I have liked all of your photos and all 2 of your liveries.
That were free of charge. LOL.
You might want to introduce yourself here and begin helping others in the group as soon as you have some free time. Failure do so will probably eventually get your name taken off the list. Jussayin’
@GaymerGirl67 is very much a team player and was my hero for the day when they pushed me past the likes I needed!
Sorry haven’t been too active here lately. I’ve had less time and its gone to tuning and rivals. I will try and get the new folks vinyls done this weekend! If others have added new vinyls I will try to get those as well. Glad to see things are still rolling along here!! Much respect to all!!
