I’m not sure about you guys but Unbeatable A.I is pathetic for me.
I should clarify I’m an F1 style driver in Forza M6 (non apex)
I drive the Lotus E23 (cause I drove the E21 in M5) and when I’m doing credit-farming runs I play any map really with the following settings:
23 drivers
Unbeatable A.I difficulty
20+ laps (usually just 20 or more depending on the map. Most I’ve ever run is 150 laps on “Lime Rock” (I think that’s what it’s called)
As long as I have like 5-10 laps I will ALWAYS lap the last few AI’s. The more laps I have the more times I’ll lap them.
Why are the “unbeatable” A.I’s so easy? It’s pathetic by the time I’m done my 20+ laps I could crash, go around the entire circuit, come back do a pit stop come all the way back around and STILL place first with a couple laps to spare.
I haven’t checked my leaderboard times but there is no way I’m just some lord thy god of F1 racing so I can’t imagine how these A.I feel to someone really skilled.
(For reference, my Lime Rock laps are usually 30~ ish seconds (I think 38 was the record lap I had last time I checked. I don’t check that often though)
Just curious really… you can lap the AI racers when on the hardest difficulty setting with the assists turned off? I think you should practice some hot-laps and get your name up in the lights if you are able to be that good! Impressive man.
Okay so moderators take 8000 years to let my posts show on the boards. But here is an update before I go to sleep: n [Mod edit - WSD - We sleep too, although to be fair we dont usually make people wait 8000 years ???]
I’ve changed my settings slightly. I no longer use Rewind (As it makes my lap times “dirty” and they don’t count) and I changed my shifting to Manual. I also changed to a tune used by another top racer who has a good time on a E23 and realized [Mod edit - WSD -Profanity and alluding to profanity are against the ToS] . At first, when just changing to manual and using his tune for hte first time both at the same time, my lap time only decreased by a second. But it’s getting better and better the more I lap. And once I get my wheel, it will be far better.
Soon (in about 3 days) I will be getting my wheel. (Racing wheel for my xbox) and am going to be really pushing my lap times hard.
All I can say for now is these are the updates on my lap times:
My “Dirty” time on Alps Festival is 1:08.853. Which means I should be taking 75th place on the americas leaderboard. But because I have rewind enable (for those crashes that I don’t want to waste time recovering from) it doesn’t count. I have since disabled rewind and have been making progress without it. I’ll get back to Alps to make a proper lap time later as all I managed to do tonight as a clean lap was 1:09.002
My “Dirty” Time on Lime Rock is 35.068 which means I should be taking 65th place on the americas leaderboard. Again though it’s a dirty lap time because I have rewind enabled so I’m going to have to make a faster lap time without it enabled when my wheel comes in.
And lastly, the CLEAN lap I have made since I discovered my problem of dirty laps, is “West Route” Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.
19.854 I’m 62nd on the leaderboards in the americas.
This is all being done with a Lotus E23 and a basic xbox controller.
But back on topic of the unbeatable AI’s. I don’t even play with them anymore. At first it was interesting to try and avoid them, but there aren’t enough of them to even make weaving through them a challenger. At this point I disable every single AI and just rush my times over and over and over in 50 lap segments then retire to look over the times and other stuff.
That’s some impressive timing my dude! Definitely take your eyes off of the computer AI and start trying to get on the leader board for the tracks you like! What wheel did you buy? I am looking at picking one up shortly but too many options, not enough reviews, and I’ve read poor things about wheels & forza compatibility. Let me know how you like it!
The mods definitely like to check things out to make sure everyone is being kosher. It can take a day or so to get a post approved but once you get permanently approved, won’t have that issue anymore. I used to be a frequent on the FM.net forums back in FM2/3, and might’ve been suspended a time or two…
We should add each other and bounce ideas off each other. I would like to start getting my hot laps down, and constantly working/learning the tuning aspect of the game. It’s the best part!
You can add me if you want, my username on XBOX ONE is “MountainWhite” (As shown in that picture) and my “gamertag” is the same. I don’t have any sort of microphone or anything on XBOX, so communication would be a bit difficult. But I’d be willing to give you my skype or something over private message on XBOX if you wanted a much easier way to chat. I’ve been with Forza for a long time, I’m not exactly lord thy god of racing (as I stated in the original post) but F1 racing has always been my thing, and if you want to tweak stuff related to it, I can deff help.
Back on topic. I think I bought this one: (Not entirely sure cause there are two versions very similar) https://goo.gl/IvHTSF (<-- That is a google url shortner link to an amazon page FYI since the link is super long)
I considered getting the F1 style add-on wheel but the reviews are quite poor for it saying it’s made of [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D] materials so I’m either not going to bother at all, or build one custom which might be fun.
In case anyone is curious about THAT, here is the F1 style add-on for the same wheel (basically you detach the original ferrari wheel and pop this one on) https://goo.gl/Y2rTXK (<-- again it is put through google url shortner it is a link to an amazon page.)
(For both the links above, if no one trusts entering a link they can’t see just ask and I’ll post the full amazon links. But they’re super long and obnoxious so I’m just trying to avoid confusion.
I get my wheel in about 2 days (if amazon is to be believed) so I’ll let you know how it is once I start doing some laps in it. One thing I will tell you is if you’re getting a wheel MAKE SURE THE FLAPPY PADDLES TURN WITH THE WHEEL. Lots of cheap wheels (and even some expensive ones) make it so the flappy paddle gear shifters DO NOT move with the wheel and that is horrible especially for F1. On the tracks where my times are best I abuse shifting mid turn and if the paddles don’t move with the wheel that might be impossible.
Currently these are my favorite maps: (Direction included, I don’t like reverse tracks so you’ll never see them) The format goes like this:
(Track name) (Track specific name) (“dirty” time) (“dirty” placement) (Where I would be if the lap was not “dirty” which will eventually be fixed when I get to it)
Lime Rock Park - Full Circuit - 00:35.068 - 4880 - 65th
Toyota Grand Prix Of Long Beach - West Route - (clean lap 00:19.854) - (Clean placement 62nd)
Circuit De Prague - Short - (Clean lap 00:41.655) - (Clean placement 83rd)
I’m going to be focusing on Lime Rock Park, Circuit De Prague, and Test Track (airfield Circuit) in the coming days and doing proper lap times in them. It’s going to take some time to both find better ways to lap, and to get a “clean” lap that can go over the dirty ones I currently have (I wish there was a way to remove dirty lap times so your clean one would show)
Sorry didn’t see your edits until just now. (when I came back to post something else) the 8000 years thing is just an exaggeration. I’m more then sure there are probably a total of like 1.5 of you working on the forums so I can understand that it takes the single person that they dedicated to this place 2 days or so to approve someones post (maybe less I think it was 2 days but I’m super bad with time and too lazy to check the dates?) [Mod edit - WSD - Still exaggerating, it was a matter of hours(if that)]
Also, you mentioned profanity/eluding to profanity, doesn’t WSD count as eluding to profanity? [Mod edit - WSD - Alluding to profanity again(and no it doesnt mean that here)]
Again I have super bad time judgement and my sleep schedule is bad so I never really know how long it actually takes for things to get done. And what does WSD mean here?
Sorry for late reply, there’s no notification about posts on this thing so hard to know when to come back and check. (Also I was sleeping)
I do have -some- assists turned on but it’s only to increase my lap times. Here are my settings word for word:
Max Drivatars: 23
Drivatar Difficulty: Unbeatable
Limit Drivatar Aggression: Off (not really sure what this does never touched it)
Drivatar Designs: On
Quick stops: No
Laps: 20
Collision Mode: Default (I hate it, but it wouldn’t be fair unless they could spin me out)
Start Type: Fixed
Division: Any
Car Class: Any
Drive Type: Any
And here are my personal assists:
Game Difficulty: Custom
Suggested Line: Off
Braking: ABS On
Steering: Simulation
Traction & Stability Control: TCS Only (Sometimes it’s off depending on track)
Shifting: Automatic (I suck at it)
Damage, Fuel, & Tire wear: Cosmetic
Rewind: Off
I used to play with damage as simulation, and I never had a real problem with it I kinda enjoyed the risk. But when you play long races like I do (20+ laps sometimes 100+) downforce failures from tiny taps to the bumper of the AI who decided to rear-end you is torture so I turned it off.
This is a picture, and some stats about the race I did just now to prove my point.
I currently hold the 4937’th place on the leaderboards for Lime Rock Full.
The last picture (Where it shows my leaderboard place and a lap time of 36.871) is taken AFTER I did some modifications to the tuning. My previous record was 37.239 then I did some major changes to my cars tune and managed to shave off that 7
Currently I am not done tuning my car, or removing assists. Eventually I want to be able to remove: Automatic, Traction Control, and maybe just maybe ABS but I don’t think so.
How difficult unbeatable AI are to beat I find depends on the track. On some classes/tracks they are ridiculously easy to beat, but on some they are nearly impossible. For example, I once tried to race a stock Modern GT offline using the Lamborghini Gallardo ST around Laguna Seca. The top drivatars in that race were lapping at mid to low 1:26s. To put that in perspective, in order to lap at that pace in the Gallardo, I would have to get a Top 50-25 time at least in the Gallardo spec challenge on Rivals to be on pace with that car, and that is a board that includes a lot of ForzaRC finalists.
Yes, the AI difficulty in this game is extremely inconsistent, but AI in racing games have always been mediocre at best and downright terrible at worst. If you’re looking for more of a challenge online might be the way to go.
This game is a LOT different depending on what kind of car you drive. If you drive a NASCAR car, your main difficulty from the A.I becomes not letting them pass you, and staying out of the way of their crashes.
When you play normal supercars like Gallardos, Bugatti and the like. Then the AI on “unbeatable” is still difficult.
But if you’re an F1 racer like I am, then they are basically just moving obstacles on the track messing up your time and nothing more. The A.I doesn’t seem to register how powerful the cars are. They also don’t seem to register the way an F1 is supposed to drive. Sure they generally keep to the rules of racing, follow the apex, take the corner wide at the start then narrow it in. But they don’t do it right in F1 cars. On the straights they’ll slow down far too early, they’ll then go around the corner at like 50mph when you can take that corner at 120 if you’re really pushing it. They constantly slow down super far just to take the apex of corners where it would be better to just gun it and take the corner wide.
’
The A.I simply does not know how to drive F1 cars and it makes F1 races against A.I extremely boring. And you can’t go online because online racers purposely spin eachother out all the time. I was spectating a game just yesterday where the first thing I watched was someone in that [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D] ferrari car everyone loves behind a Lotus E23 driver and he purposely spun him out by tapping his back wheel on the straight. They sabotage other racers so it’s no fun.
I just saw this post and want to suggest if anyone is considering getting a Ferrari racing wheel, to not get the Ferrari 458 Spyder.
That is the wheel that does not have Force feedback.
I received one for Christmas and it does not empress me at all.
The models with Force Feedback and 900 degrees of turn are better.
I raced all the previous Forzas, except Forza 5, with wheel only and this Ferrari 458 Spyder is not good.
When I can afford another wheel I will get one.
Forza 6 is OK, but more confusing than Forza 4 and earlier. I didn’t have Forza 5.
I haven’t figured out how to get clean laps yet.
So maybe my turning off the AI will help.
Unbeatable AI in public lobbies are a joke, even more so if you don’t force yourself into stock cars like they are. In career mode, they’re not COMPLETELY useless, but they’re still pretty easy. The front running car takes a few laps to catch, though. However, sometimes it’ll glitch (not sure if they fixed this or not - haven’t done career for ages) and the lead car will do impossibly quick lap times; I’ve been beaten by 2 seconds a lap by the lead AI on a few occasions, and I hold quite a few #1 and top 10 times on the boards.
For me it really depends on the track. I like S Class. On the tracks I mastered in FM4 I’m usually faster than the best of unbeatable AI by .25-.5 seconds which is good enough to win comfortably. On tracks I’m still learning I get swamped.
