Unbeatable AI much faster in circuit races, sluggish in drags. Thoughts?

Hey guys,

I’m sure this has been discussed before at some point, but I just raced de la Sarthe in an A700 modded C7 (484kw like the new Z06) with 15 AI on Unbeatable for 3 laps. I won relatively easily, yet when I checked the event results, the stock 2013 R8 that came in 15th place managed a 03:44 best lap time, as well as a Yellowbird recording 03:49. What the? I managed a 04:13, and the leaderboards start at 03:52 in modified 250 GTO’s etc. I understand that the difficulty “Unbeatable” should be somewhat true to it’s name, but that is ridiculous. I’d expect it to be the AI following a perfect racing line on max attack. The R8 was essentially level with me up to 310k/ph with an over 70kw deficit and higher weight. I for one dislike that they actually boost the performance of the vehicles themselves.
Then you have the AI in drag races, where all but 1 (or 2 at a pinch) will roll of the line slowly and lift off for seconds at a time. I play my fair share of multiplayer against the rest of you but it’s fairly irritating that Turn10 can’t get either of these AI issues right. Surely they can’t be that difficult to debug? That being said there’s a few other things I’d prefer be addressed before that, ones that have you’ve all addressed before,

Anyone else experienced similar?

Thanks

The lap time issue was mentioned here before, and I think it has something to do with the race ending while they were on a lap, and the game taking their time before they finish the lap as their lap time (which would be their fastest, naturally). If you actually watch their replay their fastest lap will be realistic.

They cut the race when you cross the finish line, thats why the back of the pack seem to have the fastest lap times. So when you finish the race, and 16th only completed half of his last lap, that lap time gets recognized as his best lap. I dont know if it was forza or some other game, but the rest of the race was simulated after you crossed the finish, which is what they should do here

Lol what smithy said. I didn’t see his reply. Press start right before you cross the finish line for the ai’s true best lap.

I posted a thread about this not too long ago. Unbeatable level is far far far too easy to beat. Why are drivatars that are supposed to be unbeatable hitting the brakes at times when there is no need at all to hit the brakes? Unbeatable level is a total joke, IMO. You can lap the entire field within 6 or 7 laps on most tracks (LeMans would not be one of them, but you’d be so far ahead anyway). It would be nice to have something to practice on when I don’t feel like running in a lobby, but its so darn easy that’s its not worth the time. Turn 10 would be wise to fix this, but I don’t expect them to.

I don’t know about that if you put the AI on unbeatable in the career mode they are pretty much unbeatable to me in almost all of the events except for the Indy oval event with the Indy cars. In free play I can beat the AI set to unbeatable in most tracks as long as the lap count is not to low. So in conclusion in free mode the AI is a lot easier then it is in career mode no matter what difficulty you put it on. I have also noticed that none of the drivers that I race against in the career mode ever show up in the free mode.

No they’re not.

The random drivatars they team you up with are slow. The ones on the friends list are not.

I’ve been messing with the difficulty in career mode and in the higher classes the drivatars that are my friends are either faster than me or within a tenth. The random drivatars are anywhere between 8-15 if not more seconds slower. I’ve lost count how many of my friends’ drivatars are running laps that would be in the 600-1000 range.

This is a new for me. It’s actually making career mode hard in those high classes.

However, the drivatars in free play do seem slower.

Well, maybe the game is just giving you better drivatars to race against. Every time I try it on unbeatable, its a total joke. I’m somewhat fast now, but I’m certainly not unbeatable and there’s no way I should be lapping the field as easily as I do. The drivatars all run 4 to 5 seconds per lap slower than me at least. One time, the fastest drivatar was a full 8 seconds behind me on its best lap and I lapped the entire field at least twice. That was last time I bothered with it. I couldn’t be bothered with career races, they are all way too short. My tires aren’t even warmed up properly before the races are over.

Maybe you’re just not as good as you thought  Kidding…

You try beating a veyron with no aero that is absolutely taking the corners perfect. You only run the lower classes. Its easier in those classes because the game builds the cars wrong. Its a cake walk to stomp the AI in a mini, 1.6L, or any other accel car in lower classes.

And no I’m not that good from S on up. Never said I was and have no clue on how to drive the cars fast.

Its hilarious at how much faster my friends are. There have been times where in 3 laps most of the field is 1/2 to 3/4 a lap down in these high classes but two of my friends’ drivatars are within a second or two from me on the track.

I was kidding when I said maybe you weren’t that good. You’re #67 overall in standard points, so don’t try and sell me on the you’re not very good thing… I don’t run anything above A class. Beating the AI on unbeatable level is very easy for me. Maybe the game gives me different drivers, who knows? I have no idea why as I have about 20 people on my friends list that are significantly better than me. I never seem to run against them though. Out of curiosity, I ran 12 career races last night. 4 in a Mini, 4 in a 71 Skyline (D class) and 4 in an Integra (C Class). In my Mini, it was a cakewalk at unbeatable level. I started in 14th place and had to fight my way through the ridiculous traffic (watching those unbeatable drivatars slam their brakes on when every actual player goes full throttle in the same spot…) and still would win 2 lap races by 5 seconds. So I decided to run the Nissan Skyline and ran 4 more races. As most know, I’m really lousy in any RWD car. Yet, I was still able to beat the AI with ease on unbeatable level. With that Skyline, I would be incredibly lucky to break the top 1,000. It was the same results with the Integra too. I’ll run some career races in B and A the next time I’m bored and see what happens. I won’t run any classes higher than that because I just don’t enjoy them at all.

They not only seem slower they are a lot slower, when I play it the always are lot slower in free play mode. Which isn’t really a bad think its a nice relaxing way to earn extra credits and help in leveling up my diver level and my manufacturers affinity levels.

It is far to easy, Usually you start in 1st place so you never see a car again until your lapping them. This explains the 2 and 3 lap with starting in 14th place career game though. I think for Forza 6 we’l see much better programmed AI as F5 was clearly rushed for launch.

I know you were joking. Lol. Most of my times are in D-B class. Im not terribly well rounded. Anyways previously the ai would never give me a challenge. Now they are. Im ok with that. I did do one D class race at Bathurst in that elan I raced the other day. The second place drivatar was in god mode (the times when only one drivatar is good and is many seconds faster than the rest) and I ended up pulling away finally and ran a 2:33.5 (a solid lap) but was dirty due to 2nd place drafting me. He must have been doing 34s! I was ahead of him the whole lap but he never lost much ground.

In the other D class races with the elan, it wasn’t even close. It was weird.
