So when I first got Forza 5 I was blown away by the graphics and smoothness of display but then the inevitable hates started to show through. Forza 5 “a racing game simulator” - shame there’s no RACES in the GAME, in the career all I could find were TWO LAP SPRINTS, Not a RACE in sight!!.
but I wasnt going to let this spoil the many many hours spent by many many many a person in turn ten to make this RACING game for us Public, NO I was Adamant forza 5 was still the best??? ( but doubts crept in)
So I left the career and lept into multiplayer Lobby remembering promises of ‘cleaner lobbies’ ( turn ten quote) -oooooops no clean lobbies there then!!!
but how can this be - why does everyone want to smash there way into first- who could have shown all these racers that this is how to win- and to answer that I would direct you back to TURN TEN AGAIN!!!
Microsoft may well have Pushed the release of this game BUT TURN TEN decided on TWO lap sprints, I mean this is a SPRINT RACE SIMULATOR- (see what I did there), and under the current heading - does this mean that for forza 6 were going to see LE- MANS style starts where a virtual Sprint racer has to get his Virtual Sprint Keys then Virtually run to the car before Virtually starting the car and then crossing the virtual start sorry finish line. END of RACE
COME ON TURN TEN a racing game NEEDS LAPS ( more than 1 and 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 or even 6 laps)
So far your 2 lap sprints have done nothing but show potential public lobby SPRINTERS ( cant call them racers with 2 laps) that to win - you smash - you DONT RACE that requires more than 1 lap
what ever happened to private lobbies and more importantly being able to browse them -
I believe Turn ten Want you to endure smash sprinting and NOT RACING
I believe Turn ten Dont want you to enjoy a RACE in this RACING simulator ( Just look at the amount of laps before going against this remark)
I believe Turn ten have completely lost the plot as what a racing game is about -and If it hasnt been clear enough allready
RACES = MORE THAN 2 LAPS
[Mod Edit - WSD - This is your one and only warning]
And fellas that is exactly what I’m going on about, If we want to enjoy forza 5 we can do son but only if you want to play with yourself and by yourself ( as the AI just wants to smash you) or with friends - if you can catch them online and only if you go through each of your friends one by one to see if their p[laying so 1 race will probably take an hour or two to set up then 10 mins of racing - and that brings us back to ‘they have lost the plot’.
This is supposed to be a racing game - but when you look at it you spend more time
Waiting ( to find a lobby)
waiting (for racers to join)
waitning for more races to join ( keep watching the countDOWN clock count UP -Typical of turn ten getting the exact opposite to correct each time)
Waiting for friends list to pop up to look for someone else racing
waiting to find a clean lobby because all of the above waiting was wasted when the game crashed!!!.
waiting for the game to reload
waiting again to find a lobby
Found A LOBBY- but everyones smashing - go to start!!!
The best thing I’ve found is to find a league to race in, league racing is where I’ve gotten the most enjoyment out of every forza. http://simracingnation.invisionzone.com is the league I’ve raced with the longest, haven’t really gotten going yet in FM5 but working towards starting a vintage trans-am series soon. Another great league is http://virtual-motorsports.com they have several series’ going and are a great bunch, they also have races for US timezones and for European timezones
Yes , yes, yes.
There are several, including those above now holding community race leagues, a great Idea for racers who want races and not sprints.
I have raced in these leagues and would definitely recommend them to any keen racer.
But the OVERALL point that I’m trying to get across is this
turn ten have the ability to backstep and turn the 2 lap sprints into full blown races- where the average racer can learn to RACE (e.g. slipstreaming- side by side racing - out braking - out cornering and lots and lots of other cool racing moves) and NOT learn To SMASH thier way to win. although nothing can be done for all those allready in the public lobbies smashing away, they can change what we will see in the lobbies soon!!!.
also there is not enough punishment for those that corner cut ( to the extreme ) or just miss out whole sections of track, ( YAS MARINA) whatever happened to TWO TYRES off = penalty and or slow sticky stuff ( great stuff - bring it back in Lorry loads). this would soon clean up their act!
in what way was this trolling i made a valid point that wasn’t a dig at anyone and (as a few people have quoted and commented on it without sounding offended) i feel confident in saying i didn’t upset anyone.
just to be THAT GUY again.
One Lap of America is a one lap race maybe 30 odd hours long but never the less one lap lol. But no i do see your point and i agree the races could be a little longer maybe have a endurance series like forza 4 or the ability to change the laps so more experienced races could up them while the more casual racer could keep them at 2 lap.
I like your thinking- but I’m still THAT fella - as the arguments are not resolved
a - sprint is a race - be definition a race is 1 or more laps to a finish point-
so please tell me which 24hrs of Le mans is 1 lap or 12 hours of Sebring- ok so i’m picking on the obvious- lets try formula 1 - nope -n o 1 lap races there either- lets try rallying- no hang on thats point to point ( still a race though ) ok then lets look at rally cross - nope more than one lap there- how about grass tracking - no I’m afraid there more than 2 laps there, what about boat racing, hang on a minute these are CARS were racing here!. ( still more than 2 laps there as well)- so what REAL world RACES have 1 lap?
CRUSE, if you do it again I’ll make it easy for you and give you some time off. Your post served one purpose and it was to create an argument. This is not a game you want to play.
Two laps is a bit short, but we may have players to blame for that. If people whine about wanting shorter races, that’s what we may get. Sure, now it’s that we want longer races, but that’s the folks wanting longer races. We aren’t hearing from the folks happy with short races. In the past when races were maybe five to ten laps, some complained that they were too long. Most racing games, outside of Forza and GT, have short races like this.
If they have went from 10 laps to 2 or 3 then that’s a far to much a jump. Instead of having every race 2 or 3 laps why not mix it up a little? If the Forza community thought 10 laps was to much then go between 4-8.
Hopper online race length is based on what T10 figures, total time wise, is an appropriate length. For the most part, the lengths are not too bad. The races are actually longer than FM4 hoppers. A few more laps here and there on some tracks wouldnt be bad, but overall i am satisfied except for 2 lap races at road america.
As for single player, i have no idea what they were thinking. It is probably partly why so many drivatars are terrible.
Online racing isn’t too bad if you report/block troublemakers. There doesn’t seem to be a large enough population at all times to pair people based on skill so issues do happen because of the huge gaps in skill at times.
I completely agree with RPM. The online races are shorter because there are people in the lobby waiting to race. I wouldnt want to wait for 15 min for a race to end. The average race is about 7 mins long and that feels like forever when you get in there on lap 1 and have to wait 7 min for them to complete. Could there be longer races yes but that would be in a different lobby and something for the Wishlist Thread.
Dirty racers the best you can do is report/block/vote to kick. Every game has people that just like to troll so there is no way to fix it unless us the players report/block/vote to kick.
