My issue with the forums are the same people over and over again, hijacking your post. Trying to belittle you and making you feel as though your comment was wrong, or shouldn’t have been posted.
Then they’re are those who get things completely wrong and instead of doing the decent thing and apologise, they try turning it on you. It’s your fault not mine. How hard is it to say “sorry” admit you were wrong and move on? Instead you’d rather continuously reply until the other person gives up or ignores you. It doesn’t mean you are right, it means your being a troll.
Guaranteed this will be quoted, and guaranteed it will be the same person that does it, why? Because they have nothing better to do? Or maybe they believe they are gods gift to all things, either way it’s on the brink of online harassment, and some posts and replies could even dice with breaching the commutations act here in the UK. I’d rather try helping when possible but do feel myself typing things, just to then press cancel, because I know if you give these people even a millimetre of ammo they turn it towards you.
Blocking does nothing, all that person needs to do is click on your name and they can see everything you type, if anything that needs fixed foremost on the forums. Block should mean block.
All this aside I do think the vast majority of people within the forums are focused on helping, or attempting to make a community with a community, there are some outside fun activities setup by others which are enjoyable and well thought out, where others come together to help others become better drivers, tuners and painters. But then there are less than a handful of others who try to disrupt this by trash talking others down.
One thing more than anything else, not one of us know how the game is coded and what cross connections exist. We don’t know if fixing this, might break that, or if it is indeed coded to actually work that way. Unless you have access to the source code and engine itself, and are part of the development team, everything you “speculate” is not “fact”, so trying to make yourself look like “Mr Knows It All” or “Mr Perfect” is in my opinion pointless and pathetic.
I was a programmer yes, I’ve developed firmware and software, yes. Can I make a “best judgment” based on previous experience? Yes… but would I 100% say I know what’s fully wrong and how to fix it “No” and would I shutdown anyone else’s input? “No”… Why? because I don’t know the source code or how it’s programmed. Just because you’ve worked on other projects/games within different companies, doesn’t give you overall authority to class others as wrong or stupid.
At the end of the day, the facts we do know:
-
There are bugs in the game.
-
There are cheaters and exploiters taking over the game.
-
The AI are wonky to a point it’s funny/frustrating at times.
-
There is a list a mile long to sort.
-
Something broken for someone else might be more important to them than someone else’s issue, but it doesn’t mean that other persons issue is less important.
Is the game playable? Yes for a vast array of players. Is the game broken? Yes again, and again for a vast array of players. Are players frustrated? Yes, but is it right to take that frustration out on other players? No
This is supposed to be an open forum, for anyone to openly post within, if someone posts something that you don’t personally agree on, then there are a thousand different ways to put your point across politely, instead of “your talking crap” or “shut up”.
I genuinely feel it for those who believe they’ve been ripped off, and I do find that if a product is not fit for purpose then that person should be refunded. But also these people have to understand that for others the game is perfect. Neither side is wrong, it’s what makes us human, the ability to decide what is right for us, not others. At the beginning I was in the refund camp, but I’ve slowly moved across to the “I get enjoyment” camp, and if I get even a few hours of enjoyment, then to me that is money well spent. Although I don’t disagree, there is a lot of issues within the game needing fixed/resolved, especially the cheats infecting every leaderboard.
Damn whatever happened to “if you’ve nothing nice to say, then don’t say it?” According to stats we should all be old enough to remember this. Maybe we should all start acting our ages, instead of the spoilt kid from days gone by? No one is perfect, not even those who believe their perfect, that itself is dangerous.
It costs nothing to be nice! That’s what I say to my kids everyday, and I’m shocked I need to state this on a forum full of grownups!
