Tight game, just need a few pointers

Yo what’s good.
My housemate just got his hands on the Xbox 1, and I ran to Gamestop to cop the game. This thing is tight, i’m coming from forza 4 (Gran Turismo originally)
However I have one question:

How do you guys deal with the strong brake sensitivity?
I’m maybe 2 hours into career, no ABS and still i’m locking up like crazy after pressing the left trigger to maybe 10-20%. I was testing my E63AMG on brands hatch, slowly feeding in the brakes until i sensed they were going to lock up. Then if ever even thought about steering to correct my line, the thing would just lock up and plow straight. I finally threw the straw and left ABS on lol.

Braking with no ABS takes a little getting used to. You can also try playing with your deadzone settings on the controller. In the game to options and then choose controller settings. From there I believe its under advanced. You can play with the settings a bit and try to find something that works for you. My best advise is practice. 2 hours is not alot of time considering once you learn the tracks and get a better feel for the car you will improve your line, slip angle, and braking distances.

I’m using lower pressures than in previous games; in Forza Motorsport 4 I used to use 150-200% whereas now I’ve settled on 100-110%

It took me about a month to adjust to the sensitive brakes but now that I have I rarely lock up anymore.

Brakes are more sensitive on this game. Have you changed your dead zone in the advanced controller section of the options. I changed mine to 0-100. It gives a little more travel & helps a bit.

I change the brake force in tune set up.That will help tremendously.I tune most of my cars to 80 percent brake force

I do the same thing. Going by the test numbers and depending on the weight balance of the car, setting brake pressure somewhere between 75 and 83 percent seems optimal.

Ha yeah I thought it would be an easy transition jumping from Forza 4 to 6. I was actually getting fairly competitive at 4 with my own tunes and correcting my driving style RIGHT before i got this game. I’m getting too ahead of myself here. Like while i still have some basics down, it almost feels like im back to square one haha. Anyways, I’ll take your advice and take my time with it

It’s funny i was actually playing around with the braking force while waiting for my post to get approved by the mods.
I ended up bringing it down to 70% with ABS on for the E63. I’m still upsetting the abs a little bit, so i’ll practice modulating a lot more. Good looking out boys!

With ABS you want less than 100% (around 70-80%) or you’ll lock almost every time unless you brake very smoothly but also early and you loose time.
I drive without ABS and I have between 110 and 130% pressure. Sometimes I need to get used with a car or a track or I lock too much. But still I’m faster without ABS and locking than with ABS so I don’t really mind ^^

Prolly goes without saying but pay careful attention to the haptic feedback on the triggers, if you’re reactions are quick enough you can adjust your braking via the vibrations before they lock-up.

I run 100% pressure and only typically use about 1/10 of the triggers range, and thats when im braking hard… its all in the initial applying of force (do quickly but gradually) and then feathering it so you are teetering on the point of lock-up but without actually locking up.

Once mastered you can easily out brake ppl using ABS by an average of 10-20% or about the same into the braking line before you actually start braking.

Same deal for throttle and TCS.

Brakes are not more sensitive in f6, its just the controller is

It took me a fair bit when I made the transition from FM4 to FM5 and at start I was using brake pressure below 75% and on some cars I couldn’t even get the wheels locking if I was going straight. So just after the transition my brake pressures were really low. Now I’m back to using my usual around 150% brake force
