FM6 Braking Sensitivity/Lock up issue

I just finally joined the next gen party and bought a Xbox One and Forza 6 and I’m having an issue.
I’m a Forza 2, 3, and 4 veteran. I’ve logged COUNTLESS hours on the games.
I’ve always played with no assists and I’ve always been able to modulate brake pressure to avoid lock up in the past with no ABS it’s never been an issue.
Now with Forza 6 the brakes lock completely with barely any input on the trigger. No matter how hard I try I can’t modulate the input it just locks up.
This is also my first experience with the new controller so I understand there’s a learning curve.
I’ve been playing with the advanced settings but have no idea what I’m doing.
Is there anyone else that has had this problem? I had above average skill in previous Forza games, now I can’t even make a clean lap.
Again, I understand there is no ABS and I need to do some self modulation but it has never been an issue in the past as the trigger had a lot more travel before lock up.
I find it nearly impossible to brake with such a small input threshold before lock up.
Honestly I just want the game to play like Forza 4, whether that’s a bad thing or a good thing.
Any tips would be great!

well 2 things.

  1. ITs the controller, its more touchy and less bump rebound and feels like it has less travel, it takes time to use less finger force to stop you locking up because its what your used to is not locking it up.

  2. To make it easier not to lock up make the dead zones of braking 0-100.

You say you have changed the brake pressure in the tune right?Because that is key… Go tune the vehicle and look for brake pressure and bring it down to your liking.I do believe you need to do the upgrade on the vehicle first to racing brakes or you may not have the option of setting brake pressure.
If I take the pressure way down I wont even stop nevermind lock up…I have most of my tunes set around 80-85 and that works pretty good and I changed the dead zones on braking in settings to 10-100 so theres a little bit of play before braking starts. But just changing advanced settings to 0-100 is prolly not going to help very much, you really need to tune the brake setup.

This is bad advice. Do not lower braking pressure.

Why?

Cos lap times mate.

Maximum retardation is maximum retardation regardless of how much trigger you’re using. Reducing pressure only allows you to pull more trigger before locking up. It has no bearing on lap times unless you go too far so that full trigger doesn’t give maximum braking affect. If someone is prone to over braking (such as the OP) then this is the first thing they should try.

If they’ve tried but simply cannot adapt to the new sensitivity, then yes maybe they can try reducing brake pressure. If all the very best players are increasing brake pressure, then there’s got to be something in it, don’t you think so bro? It has a bearing.

hahahahahahahahaha!!!

its both the different controller and the different physics from forza 4.
the exact same thing happened to me when i first switched to forza 5.
eventually you will get a feel for it, but it will be frustrating for quite some time.
keep abs off and use a completely stock car with STOCK TUNE, DO NOT ADJUST THE BRAKES AT ALL, its just gonna throw you off at first.
keep doing laps at a track your very familiar with untill you get a feel for them.
once you realize the key is in the trigger vibration, NOT TRIGGER TRAVEL, it will start to make sense to you.
in forza 6 im ranked 50th in the world on the ring, s-class leaderboard, so i know what im talking about, also ive been playing nothing but forza since the original forza 10 years ago.
hope this helps.

Lol!

Great advice. It’s simply a case of getting used to the new sensitivity. Just stick with it. Most of the top players increase the brake pressure considerably.

Agreed.
I up my to 130 and push the brake bias toward the rear.
I feel it’s easier to find the sweet spot. I probably only use 50% of the trigger.

+1 for Medic’s suggestion. Brake pressure to around 80 and off you go. I’ve got a couple of tunes that are as low as 75. Hot lapping is one thing, pounding around the same track until you get it right, but for racing adjusting pressure is the best way of ensuring you keep control when you’re in close company.

To me, Forza Motorsport 6 is more brake-sensitive than Forza Motorsport 4; I previously used to get away with 200% Brake Pressure but in this game I rarely go over 100%. It took me about a month to adjust but now that I have I feel quicker than before.

the point is that adjusting the brakes while your trying to get used to the new physics and new controller is only making things more difficult/confusing to the person trying to get used to the feel of the brakes in forza 6.
to the OP, just pay attention to the vibration in the trigger, it tells you when your at the limit of traction.
