From the game journalists that look at the intro sequence and maybe a few races only, to the diehard fans that will buy the game regardless, sadly I think FM8 will be a commercial success no matter if it’s awful or not. We’ll probably get FM7.5 and it’ll have the biggest FM launch ever recorded. There’s not really any incentive to do better and that’s why I don’t think we will get a better game than fm5-7.
I think it’s a tad too early to judge whether the game is awful or not We still know very little about it.
It’ll be on Game Pass. That guarantees a few million players at launch. Whether they stick around or not is another question.
I’m buying it because it’s the only reason I got a series X (which came with a 100 dollar gift card). We’re only about 2 months out from getting more information about the game. Hopefully a release date and the cover car. If it sucks it sucks, though I doubt that’ll be the case. Forza’s just a few iconic Porsche models away from being the best racing game for console IMO.
2 months away from more info?
Was there a memo?
I’m guessing he’s referring to the next “developer showcase”-style event that’s coming in June. Judging by what we’ve seen so far from these types of events I’m not expecting much, but maybe it will finally – FINALLY – be time for T10 to show us something with a little substance.
Nothing has been confirmed yet, but it’s believed that we’ll get more information during the Xbox Games Showcase Event on June 11th. Chris Esaki said “in the coming months”, so I’d assume that’s when they’d release more information unless the game has been delayed again.
Ah, the not E3 thing. Ty folks
I will be buying the game come what may. This is because I’m petrolhead with low impulse control when it comes to all things…petrol.
That being said, showing us manky forza aero whilst making flamboyant ‘made from the ground up’ statements is very cheeky. Lack of communications on the delays is rude.
At this point it seems we’re getting another traditional Forza release in early fall (or late summer in best-case scenario), so I expect release date reveal, pre-orders launch and first true gameplay showcase at Xbox event in June.
if they release the game this year yes i will buy it. otherwise i dont give a …
On the topic of this game’s atrocious promotion…
It is my sincerest hope that, regardless of the final quality of this game at release, anyone who’s involved in the promotional campaign for this should quickly and unceremoniously find themselves relieved of those duties. The game company scenes from Matrix Resurrections were meant to be a parody, not a how-to manual. There has been an intolerable amount of hyping around this game, and precious little in the way of any measure of payoff, and the degree with which the fanbase has been jerked around would be lambasted and ridiculed had any other company attempted it. I’ve seen…seedier companies & entities promise and deliver more than Turn 10 has to this point. That’s a little disgraceful, in my opinion. Especially considering what this game appears to be shaping up to be.
On the subject of Forza Motorsport 2023(???) itself…
I do not expect this game to be anything more than Forza Motorsport 7 with a fresh coat of paint, missing content/features and predatory FOMO and F2P mechanics instituted because games like Horizon have popularized them. Anyone who is expecting something ground-breaking and revolutionary is going to be in for crushing disappointment. If Turn 10 had something of that nature, they most certainly would not have waited to show it off. We would know far more about this game than we do now. For all intents and purposes, I’m expecting this new Forza Motorsport to be little more than a next-gen roster update. In fact, given the initial reports about content, and some of that content subsequently being cut, I’m expecting worse than that - as if EA released a new Madden, but cut out all of the teams and stadiums from the NFC or AFC, holding them back to be released later as post-launch “free” DLC.
Like trackside shrubbery and raytracing.
I’m not buying this. The first Forza I have no plans on playing. What they’ve shown is wholly less than any new release deserve. Motorsport 5 was maligned for stripping back from the previous to get into a new console generation and even it had more features brought fourth and advanced from the previous. This is Fifa for Forza.
6 years for what?
Motorsport 4 to Motorsport 7 was the same time between Motorsport 7 and when this next one is presumed to come out barring any further delays. Just to put that into perspective. An entire console generation of time has passed. What do they have to show?
Let’s just hope there’s actual substance to their next event. Chris needs to answer multiple hard hitting questions at this point, we’ve waited far long enough.
As much as many here would like him to answer said “hard-hitting” questions, he doesn’t actually need to answer anything to us. We’re not paying him and that’s the point; I’ve decided to believe that T10 has more to tell us but they have their hands tied by MS., eg. the people that actually do pay him and T10. I was firmly on the “they don’t really have much, do they?” train, but I’ve decided I may as well hope that they do.
They had better, because if I don’t see some substance, some content, or some questions answered in June, then I may be changing my tone once again.
The only answer I want addressed is what the **** have they been doing for the past 6 years.
These trailers should be knocking my socks off with the new features they’ve developed over that massive amount of time. And my socks have never been more secure on my feet. So much I might need a medical procedure just to remove them.
I own all sim and most arcades on my PC, I try them all. What’s bizarre is the those awards some of crap games give themselves like the best audio award FH5 bought
You know those go by years right? What had better sound design than horizon from 21?
It’s across genre award, not racing only. FH5 sound… was best? As far as racing games, sounds are totally unimpressive.
He doesn’t have to, but given the nature of the situation they find themselves in, he should and it would be in his best interest to do so. This little PR monster they have created for themselves is one that not even a June WORLD PREMIERE!!! would fix…assuming, of course, that is what’s coming and not just more evidence of this game being a glorified tech demo, if not outright vaporware.
When it comes to managing expectations, it’s not just the job of the players to self-regulate, it’s on the dev team as well. Simple truth of the matter is, Turn 10 has demonstrated that they suck at it.
