While interesting idea, my problem is constant and happens only on one computer. (the only computer in house)
Bump if anyone else has ideas
The only idea I can think of is the people that can access the code can fix it. They have moved on and only listen to people that don’t have any issues. They have left the rest of us behind because they can’t be bothered with petty issues like long load times and constant crashes to the desktop.
So, I launch the game, the little credits screen and animations finish, then the game starts with the music & stuff saying to press enter or A on the xbox controller, after pressing it, the loading to the main menu to press “continue game” takes way too long compared to before. The game is on an ssd and the pc can easily handle it, so theres no problem with that.
Anyone experiencing anything similar?
Yes, I agree. For me it is even longer as I completely shut down my console when I am finished. I don’t think I would mind the wait as much if I didn’t have to press the button to continue in the middle of the launch. Just allow me to launch the game and leave it at that.
In the very early versions it’s at least twice or thrice faster.
…Inexplicably broken in a later update and left broken since then. (probably not, at least in: 1.404.531.2)
Problem connecting to the Xbox Live service.
Try disconnecting from the Internet and starting offline. (if the system allows you to do so)
It takes a long time, I use ‘Resume’ which is instant. There may be some deliberate pauses in the loading section.
One thing I noticed with the bugs is that for example… the bug that goes to a Blue print instead of a race shouldn’t even be looking for a blue print. It means that the main loop is looking for things that it doesn’t need to be looking for, which of course takes longer than it is supposed to take.
Some of the programming could be improved to speed up the loading times.
I’m on PC and the time between ‘press enter’ and ‘continue’ is still just a few seconds like always. (The loading proper still takes ages of course.)

It probably doesn’t help much but I’ve not noticed any delays. I mostly use a 1TB original XBox with a 500GB Samsung USB3 portable external SSD. Fast travel to anywhere on the main island takes about 3 seconds and there’s no delay on images or as far as I can tell frame dropping even at 300 mph. I’ve never timed loading from pressing A to continue but it’s just a few seconds.
It’s to do with a recent Windows update part of the 1903 updates.
I moved back to 1709 and load times are back to normal.
Not that I recommend doing what I did, the 1909 update should be out soon and likely will break far more…
Oh no. Over a minute. How awful. Instant gratification expectation destroys your ability to enjoy something.
If you walked into a dark room and pressed the light switch, I’m sure you’d be happy to wait a minute for the light to come on.
The game takes a very long time to load, the minute referred to above is just one particular part of the loading sequence.
This has been happening (on PC at least) since the 1903 Windows 10 update.
If it took few seconds before and now minutes, yeah, it made the experience worse.
Not here. My NVME sees to that.
How long does the game take to load in its entirety, for you?
I never remembered FH3 being this slow so I timed it and FH4:
From clicking the icon to load the game, to the point where you can drive, FH3 takes about 65 seconds. FH4 takes 2 minutes 35 seconds. On the same powerful PC. Both games use the same game engine as well.I just checked, I am on 1803 (17134.1006). ISTR I previously deferred the update.
PC i7, nvme ssd, 1080ti. From clicking the icon to getting to drive was 55 seconds. Not bad imo.
Yea, it’s sad that the game has four loading screens before you can get to actually racing.
On PC: 1) The splash screens. 2) The “press enter/a to start” where it loads your profile I guess? 3) Then loads the map data to get you to the "Welcome back menu. Which then 4) Has to load AGAIN when you try to get out of the menu and into the actual street. Though this one’s usually quicker. UNLESS you’ve decided to change cars.
I must have had something wrong with the SSD it was on because I’ve just moved it to another one and it now loads rapidly:
The previous SSD is all good according to the SSD manager but the poor performance tells a different story. So FH4 is not to blame!
