Stutter when hitting objects

First of all, I will ask you not to close this without reading my post in full and investigating this please.
This issue was reported at least once, but closed as not being able to reproduce.
I have done some investigating myself and the reason why this hasn’t been reproduced is most likely because it hasn’t been tried on an account with many hours play time yet.

Here is the link to the originally reported issue by someone else:

As it is described in this topic, the game will stutter when hitting objects, whenever the “save circle” appears left of the speedometer.
For me this happens the same way as described in this original post.

For me this happens on a PC with an AMD 7950X3D, 64 GB of RAM, and with an NVidia RTX 4090. Recently I upgraded to an RTX 5090 and it is the same thing. Additionally, I also tested this on a Lenovo Legion Go and there the very same thing is happening: stuttering when hitting objects. So this most definitely is not related to the hardware being used.

Therefore, today I did some additional testing and for this I used the account of my wife, which has barely been used for playing Forza Horizon 5. I did the testing on the very same PC with the 7950X3D CPU, 64 GB of RAM and an RTX 5090 GPU.
And when playing using this account the issue does NOT happen. The frame rate stays constant and no stuttering appears, even if you hit objects and the save circle appears.

For comparison please see the two videos I uploaded to youtube:
From main account with 2000+ hours play time with stuttering: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBsIXHA7Hq4
From wife’s account with just a few hours FH5 play time on the very same PC with the same settings:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lah4t2m3BDQ
Please DO LOOK AND FOCUS at the frame rate at the top right corner when hitting objects and do not dismiss this because the stuttering is not that noticeable in a 60 FPS youtube video!

Bug Info: free roam, but I have also experienced it in the Eliminator
Platform:Windows PC
Edition: Game Pass with Premium Add-On
Account: my own account (where the stuttering happens) / my wife/s account (where the tuttering does not happen)
PC GPU: NVidia RTX 5090, driver 576.02
Peripheral: Xboex Elite Series 2 Controller
Settings: See video I posted
Xbox Settings: N/A
Attempted fixes: See above, happens on my main account with 2000+ hours play time, but not on wife’s account with just a few hours play time, on the same PC with the same settings
Content Update: this has been happening for a while

I’ve had the same issue. And what fixed it for me was that my RAM wasn’t running on it’s full speed. I found out about it when i opened up the task manager. I went to the bios, enabled XMP and those specific stutters whenever hitting an object went away.

Edit: I think what im looking at here is more to do with the game’s memory leak issue on pc. I don’t think this is a specific hitting objects stutter but more like a general micro stutter. And i’ve experienced it regardless of what im doing around the map. But it can get especially worse if i did a couple of online races and then went back to freeroam. It’s basically been this way since launch and there won’t ever be a fix for it.

This may help you, IF you are using MSI Afterburner, go to monitoring tab and UNCHECK the power monitoring section, make sure all the power monitoring is disabled. I recently watched a video where a dude was benching 40 games and every single one showed micro stuttering in graphs, he proved in the video in real time the microstutter completely stopped in all affected games. I tried it and it works 100%. MSI Afterburner has Power Monitoring enabled by default, which causing the problem without anyone knowing it is the cause, this needs to be spread around guys…

You are in the wrong section of the forums, I am open about it and reported it.

Afaik these stutters are savegame related, there was a trick or something that extends the time between autosaving.

I used that in FH4 iirc, there was a sort of ini edit or something, just use a search engine of your choice, you will find it.

Try searching for something like that and use the fix for FH5, that should work too.

I also get that stuttering, but I got used to it and don’t care anymore. But that stuttering O N L Y happens in Freeroam for me, not in a regular Road Race for example. Because in regular races it collects all data and saves it at the end afaik, in Freeroam it saves whenever you do something that triggers the stats servers.

I hope this at least helps a little bit. But seriously don’t create topics in the wrong section of the forums.

Looks like this issue has been fixed with today’s update!
