Before the Series 19 update I could play the game at a stable frame rate above 90 with minor (unnoticeable stutters) but after the update it’s gotten worse than the launch of fh5 and I’ve tried all solutions which don’t seem to get it fixed.
Pictures of GPU Usage:
Note: The stable line is during pause menu and everything else is in free roam
~Playing on STEAM~
My rig:
Ryzen 7 5800x
Nvidia RTX 3070 (Latest Game Ready Driver - v531.41)
RAM: 32GB 3600MHz
SSD 980 PRO 1TB - The game is on the SSD installed
Windows 10 Pro (Latest update)
ASUS X570 Plus (Latest BIOS - v4602)
Clips of frame rate dropping and stuttering:
“Solutions” I’ve tried already that I can remember:
Lowering graphic settings, capping fps at 60 or 72, closing all running programs, installing studio driver, setting high priority, disabling/enabling game mode & GPU scheduling, clean driver installation, reinstalling the game, lowering resolution, disabling overlays…
Keep in mind that this also happens on the main map and Hot Wheels DLC
I really hope PGG takes it into account to optimize this better because I don’t have these issues with other games like I do with FH5
If anyone knows a miracle of a solution for this, let me know. Otherwise, I can’t be bothered to play the game like this which is a shame
I think this has something to do with the latest Nvidia driver update we had. I had an issue streaming Beam NG this weekend, normally can stream and run maxed out graphics but had to lower everything due to frame stutter.
I7 137000k
RTX4080 (current driver update unsure number)
Same thing happens to me (i’m also on steam) but it affects only free roam. I can play rivals, open for hours with stable 140+ fps and no issues but freeroam in main map and expansions is borderline unplayable. GPU usage drops and that causes massive stuttering.
Myself tried already:
graphics settings on lowest possible
lower resolution
all the aa solutions on and off
v-sync on or off in both game and control panel
resizable bar on or off
xmp profile on or off
older drivers 531.29 and 531.18
no improvement at all
I have i5 10600 and RTX 3060 that should be able to handle the game on 1080p very low settings. There is nothing else that run on the pc that could affect it. No antivarus, no afterburner, no recording programm, nothing at all. Temperatures are fine and other games are also fine.
Tried the game today for about 2 hours on my old machine (i7-9700k, RTX 3080 10g, 32 GB Ram)
I previously played the game without problems in 4k DLSS Quality everything set to extreme except Terrain Complexity turned to Ultra. Game played between 80 and 110ish FPS before the new Expansion.
Now the game stutters like crazy and the longer I play the worse it gets. Even though now I am on a 1440p Monitor, still using DLSS Quality and turned down shadows and Terrain Deformation from Extreme down to Ultra.
Oh, almost forgot to mention, when those frame drops start to happen, my GPU still shows 100% Utilization but suddenly uses 100 Watts less Power than normal.

i’m not sure about AMD but worth a shot. Problem is, it’s hard to tell what driver performs best.
I’ve tried like 4 drivers until someone mentioned that the 528.49 works best which I haven’t tried yet until now.
There’s a lot of drivers per month that get released and you can’t really know for sure which one is good for a specific game.
The latest nVidia driver, 531.68, caused such major amounts of stutter (both in game and just on the desktop; possibly affected Minecraft Java as well) that I reverted to 531.61… No, that made no difference. 531.41? No, worse again. The whole system is affected, it seems. What an absolute nuisance.
I think I’m going to try uninstalling the driver (531.41) and reinstalling it again. Other than that. I don’t know what else might be done. The 531.68 driver seems to have messed up the rest.
I’ve also just noticed something else – the fans on my Asus Zephyrus have stopped working. I noticed the machine was getting quite hot and that it was also silent, which is highly unusual since the fans usually blast away when I’m playing Horizon 5.
In my case, using a gtx 1650 at 1080p on medium settings getting 70-90 fps, at it seems that the 528.49 has fixed the issue, but I have not conducted enough experiences, tomorrow I will check for sure if it is fixed.
I know what you are saying, but I have checked multiple times if it was a gpu memory bottleneck, and it isn’t even at ultra settings, because I remember for a while I could run it perfectly without frame drops at all, and the newest driver didn’t seem to do anything.
The clips uploaded seem like they dont load up. Can you upload on youtube? Does it look something like this? Because ive reported through the support page about getting stutters while hitting objects.
