Game is unstable since that "Back to the 90's" event

I didn’t have ANY crashes, freezes etc. since 1 or 2 years, but this update did a number on my rig. Already had several crashes.

WIN11 Pro, Latest Nvidia Driver, R9 5950x, RTX 3080, 32 GB RAM, installed on Samsung 990 Pro.

Same happens to me, after game update it crashes all the time i went driving. Its everything okay under menu or whatever, but after 10min driving my game just freeze and exit complete. I updated win and nvidia, i tought it was becasue of win update so i removed last update but its still the same when i want to drive the car.

It’s like they don’t have any game testers.

I have the same issues. After a while the game just crashes and closes without any error messages. Running it under windows 10 form the Microsoft store. Even un- and re-installed the game last weekend but it still happens. Using the latest NVIDIA driver for my RTX 3080. Never had any issues before, only since the 90s event started.

I have the same issue! I play on PC (Microsoft store version). Never had a single bug but since the last update i cant play more than 30/40 minutes and them the game freeze and close without any error code or something like that. I already tried a lot of fixes but no luck… Disable all avast shields, unplug my razer mouse and keyboard and close razer app, run the game as admin, uninstall and reinstall the game, uninstall FRAPS, update nvidia drivers, update Windows 10, reset Microsoft store, reset xbox app, checked forza horizon 5 files trought the xbox app and use my corsair headphones with usb cable insted of wireless mode. I already tried a lot of things as you can see and no luck. I hope they fix this as fast as possible cause i would like to play the game i PAID!

I fixed it buy downgrading Nvidia driver, now everything works fine as should be. My driver version is 561.09 for 1660 Ti

Thanks, rolling back the drivers to 561.09 prevents crashes.

However, I notice a huge increase in VRAM when using Raytracing on Extreme, in 4K DLAA everything on Extreme (Textures on Ultra), it used 9.5 to 10.3 GB of VRAM, now the VRAM is saturated (12 GB RTX 4070 Ti) and the Nvidia graphics options are disabled causing stuttering and freezes for a few seconds.

If raytracing is lowered to high, the VRAM usage returns to normal values.

Apparently this last update broke raytracing and this is causing a memory leak in VRAM.

I updated now the newest Nvidia driver and the same fk happens after 1-2hr playing. Ight, i gotta go back to the 561.09 again i think
And yea, i noticed stuttering and freezes for few seconds. Not only in FH5 but other games like CSGO, and sometimes with youtube lmao

The game seems to be stable for me again with the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl game ready driver (566.14).

Edit: Right after I posted this comment the game crashed, wow I had to laugh loud. So yeah the game is still UNSTABLE!

I’m also having issues ever since I installed 566.14 for MSFS2024 and it keeps crashing FH5 without any warning. No official fix yet even after a month. Ugh.

Rolling the driver back does nothing. I rolled back to multiple drivers (one from sept. 2023) and the game still crashes

It always crashes after like 2 1/2 hours or something.

Still happening to me in January

Yep same here. I can never finish the weeklies before it crashes, it is very frustrating. I always have to restart the game at least once.

It is still happening.

Next week or so I will try to do a full DDU reinstall.

DDU = Display Driver Uninstaller

Link to it: Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) download version 18.0.9.2
Link to driver: Download The Latest Official NVIDIA Drivers

In case anybody of you is trying that out, DDU only works right if you use it in “Safe Mode”. You can’t just use it in normal operating windows, no you have to reboot the OS in Safe Mode first.

And yes all of it is perfectly safe for your computer it won’t do any harm, in case anybody is asking that question to themselves.

It even crashed DOING NOTHING FOR like 60 minutes or something.

It must be a RAM leak problem.

Why you not fix this PGG? So many ppl already reported it.

I just started my game, teleporting to a race I still haven’t finished, then going on to other things ON ANOTHER computer and FH5 crashed. It’s unbelievable, this game is so freaking unstable.

There is a RAM leak I am sure of it but you don’t want to fix the problem for whatever reason.

And no my computer is NOT the problem, that machine can run 24/7 without ANY issues.

I don’t think the devs realize how widespread this problem is. A quick look on reddit shows a LOT of people are having this issue. I think most just gave up and quit or are OK with rolling back drivers (apparently this is the only game those people play?)… Not that many people put in the effort to sign up on the forums just to upvote an issue that the devs should already be aware of…

Apparently they acknowledge problems after 14 votes, so there is still one missing. But honestly I think they simply don’t care.

I can run Forza Motorsport all day long and it never crashes but FH5 crashes almost exactly after 2 1/2 hours.

This is mentioned in the latest Nvidia Driver 566.36.

Fixed Gaming Bugs

[Forza Horizon 5/God of War: Ragnarok] Game may crash during gameplay after updating to R565 release drivers [4895068]

I will DDU my current driver and install that 566.36 now. I will see tomorrow if it fixed the crashing for me or not.

The game is stable for me now. I did what I said would do and uninstalled my driver with DDU in safemode and installed 566.36 and it’s fine now. My game is running since 2 hours and 45 minutes and this didn’t work since months. It always crashed after like 2-2.5 hours.

The problem is solved.
